No Witcher 3 presence in GDC? Has anyone heard anything?

I haven't seen any news come out of GDC on the Witcher 3. Is CD Projekt Red attending?

Here are some pretty pictures

It takes time to put together a demo or a presentation. Considering this game isn't releasing this year it would be a waste of time/resources to show up. Look for the game at E3 for sure though.

It's not a trade show. Some games get shown off but it's not strange if another one doesn't.

Agreed. Seems to be forgotten that this event is for developers.

We as consumers just poke our noses everywhere and judge.

OP wait for E3

I wasn't really expecting any big reveal or anything, just some discussion about their technology, or the Red Engine in general

On the schedule they had 1 talk about landscape generation in Red Engine, and 3 talks with 3rd party plugins that they used. All of them were today, I believe.

Probably nothing that major though because most of the core features of Red Engine were shown off during Witcher 2's dev cycle.

I imagine most of the delay is getting it to work on console. Witcher 2 PC -> 360 took almost a year itself if I remember correctly and those of us who played the first could tell the changes in 2's combat system were clearly aimed at getting it console ready in the first place. CDprojektRed has replaced Crytek as the dev who loves to push the boundaries of what a PC can handle. Given the consoles are all of average hardware compared to a Top End PC or given the fact any super high visual fidelity open world game is gunna be a tough task on the consoles would most likely explain the delay.

oh c'mon this so ridiculous...I bet they are wasting too much with this fancy tech that's won't even make it to the console versions and will only be possible on the highest PC settings.

Nvidia engineers help out with these kinds of effects. And I'm glad they're implementing stuff for high-end systems, I'm planning to upgrade for this and fancy high-end PC tech is exactly what I'll be after. I legitimately want to play this game the best it can be, without compromises.

Please tell me this is sarcasm, please. My sarcasm detector is busted and out of warranty.

I actually cannot believe I have seen some idiots on twitter say that it got delayed because of the DX12 announcement and was going to be a Xbox exclusive because of it. I know people cannot wait for the game but that is lunacy.

PC games used to do this kind of thing all the time. Games were routinely released where the highest settings would be unplayable on literally all existing hardware. It was pretty cool to go back to old games a few years later to see how much better they looked.

I'd love to see modern developers doing the same thing.

This game is PC first and foremost. At least this time is getting to consoles for people who don't have a good PC, but for the ones that have, don't piss on their parade.

Yeah, wait for E3.

In addition, CD Projekt tends to host their own events where they've divulged news, footage, etc. I don't know when their next one is though.

Obviously technology should stagnate and wait for consoles to catchup in order to advance any further.

GDC really isn't as much about games as it is about the people behind them. Video game news out of a show like it are a luxury, not a commodity. As such, you shouldn't be surprised not to hear about one game or another.
