Nintendo Downloads - March 2014

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
On the Gamepad you have the table viewed from above:

and you move a piece by touching it and then touching the destination cell.

Wow, that seems very good, isn't it?
It's the kind of interface I'd like to have, indeed. And not only for this game, but for many others (like a Fire Emblem, for example)
Thank you for the update

I really like it. I haven't play chess in such a long time.
The Gamepad is ideal for convenience in playing in this case, while the nice music (and you have options about the genre - classical, jazz etc) and what you see on the big screen provides you with such a lovely atmosphere. I haven't tried yet the multiplayer, I have to train my rusty brain first.

Sounds nice. Does it have local multiplayer, too?

Oldish news but the NOE list of eShop demos has two interesting things on it.
Mario Golf (guess this is coming soon, or the usual NOE website mistake)
Pullblox (on page 4)

Is the latter recent or was it once on the eShop and taken down and NOE don't update websites. It seems like the kind of demo I would have downloaded yet I do not own it. Limited use demos for a limited time seems like the kind of thing Nintendo would do.

To do something completely random I just visited the Turkish eShop to see exactly what "A variety of Nintendo eShop services are also available in the Czech Republic and Turkey." meant. It is patches for the following games:
MK7, SMT Devil Survivor overlcoked, LEGO Chima, Style Boutique, Mii Plaza, Mario & Luigi.
Notice something missing? You know, Pokemon. Then again it might have been banned in 2000 when those kids jumped off a building (they survived with broken legs...for all these years I thought they died) but I thought that was only the anime and I guess it didn't get lifted.

Also Youtube which needs an NNID to download (like you would lock yourself into Turkey...as amusing it is to say you are from Van in Turkey, hmm might have to try this) and Letter Box (aka Swapnote, you can tel NOE care about the Turkish eShop). It appears you can add currency too (I did not try selecting the setting to see what the wallet limit was).

As for the Czech Republic it is a fully fledged eShop so NOE need to update their site (surprise, surprise). Prices are converted at about 25 CSK per Euro which is within 10% of current rate.

Oh, how did I miss this? That's very interesting. Didn't M2 make the Arcade ports on Wii? I hope they are doing it again.
The only Arcade game I bought on Wii was Gaplus, but with a bigger selection I'd buy a lot more on WiiU.
Arcade games on Wii were handled by different companies depending on the publisher. M2 only did Sega's games, Namco Bandai did theirs internally and so on.

Ah, okay. I only remembered M2 somehow being involved.

Anyone been able to find and/or download the Conception II demo (US)? I've search, and though I have found the game page, I don't see the demo.

Demo will be out this Tuesday (along with the Vita demo as well). Not sure on time, though I assume perhaps at Noon PT considering that's the usual update time on Thursdays.

Pretty cool that the SMK promotion also works if you upgrade from the Wii... too bad I never purchased it on the Wii :p

Other than that, pretty lackluster week. So it'll be "just" Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright : Ace Attorney for me!

I suppose Adventure Island II is the NES version. :( The GB version is so good.

Also, is Devil World the European version? Just curious.

Is the NES version noticeably worse? I loved Adventure Island II on Game Boy as a kid.

The Game Boy game "Adventure Island II" is actually a port of the NES game Adventure Island 3. So this is a different game anyway. The first for Game Boy is a port of the second NES game.
I think the NES version of 3 doesn't have a world map, it's linear.

One of the first games I imagined getting the treatment when I heard about the 3D Classics. Glad to see it finally happened. I might get this & Fantazy Zone if they come to the US.

....Though I would totally buy the hell out of 3D Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

They'd probably do Sonic 2, first.

I'd buy them all.

Yeah, I'll probably buy that as well just to support it & hopefully fund S3&K...plus I'm sure the special stages in S2 will look good.

Would be AMAZING if it was the version that added in Hidden Palace Zone. Been wanting that on the XBLA/PSN versions.

That supposed to be pretty good, right? Looking forward to it.

Well, this is what people have said about it in this thread:

Thanks again for the Steel Empire recommendations. Second best shooter on 3DS after the PC Engine R-Type!

spent some time with this during commute to and from work. Nice shooter, looks good, runs smooth in 3-D also. Played on normal difficulty which seemed a bit too easy so will play on hard from now on.

I have never played the original version though so cant compare it to anything. I do think the price maybe a little high though.

you have any questions?

I logged a goood hour on the game as well. Beat it on normal (yes, fairly easy on normal) but there is still hard and extra hard.

Gorgeous game. Sprites are big and pretty. Sound is off-the-hook and way better than genny/gba. It is like an HD version of those games. Things flash red when hit instead of white like the originals. Otherwise , basically the same game structurally. No flicker or slowdown. Achievments and local leaderboard.

I dunno about price as $30 is really nothing for a shooter for me. Guess your milage will vary. I've got every shooter on 3DS and this and the nee Fantasy Zone rank up there at the top. Washes the bad taste from the two Milestone junk titles recently released.

That reminds me: Did the Milestone games really end up bad? Disappointing.
