When an anthropomorphic rabbit/mayoral candidate from the future named BunnyLord needs a murderous loner to clean up the city during the election, Steve heroically offers up his dubious skills with a gun and lack of self-preservation instinct to this mysterious stranger from beyond. Now Steve must clear five districts of crime and recruit new heroes for his cause by sliding, diving, ducking, and taking cover through hundreds of full-throttle shootouts across the city. Through the power of ISO-Slant™ technology and a wasted youth, London-based developer Roll7 (OlliOlli) delivers the greatest 2¼D cover-based indie shooter of all time ever.

FEATURES

Next Level Shootouts – Use the quick snap cover system to duck behind all forms of covers to dodge enemy fire and strategically plan your next clip-emptying strike. Reload at your own discretion but don’t let the enemy hear you lest they charge your position and put you down.

Roster of Not Heroes - Select between different total badasses each with their own distinct gameplay style and abilities to take out the trash if you consider criminals trash. Go hard with a shotgun, go quick with a dash and a katana, or go raw with your bare hands.

Dynamic Missions – Go ham on primary objectives and risky secondary goals but be prepared for unexpected mid-level events that turn the tables on your hero in an instant. Nothing will put a damper in your perfectly timed-executions like a nosy SWAT team or building security patrol.

ABOUT ISO-Slant™ TECHNOLOGY
Developed over six years and $25 million, the revolutionary ISO-Slant™ technology enables game developers to reach the sweet spot between 2D and 2½D perspectives. Through the liberal, almost irresponsible use of ISO-Slant™, Not a Hero developer Roll7 is able to radically alter the standard 2D pixel art action game into an unbelievable 2¼D visual tour de force and creates a unique new genre sure to entertain for years to come.

While no specific release date was given, publisher Devolver Digital says to look for the game this summer.

You may know Roll7 for critically acclaimed (link to the review thread) 2D skateboarding game OlliOlli (link to a trailer).

Interesting. I need to see some actual gameplay in motion before I can really judge how interested I am though.
Also, no Vita version? :[

Guys I'm pretty sure a Vita version is coming. The IGN article doesn't sound like they're very sure about the platforms ("We've contacted Devolver Digital for specific platform details."). Also their last game launched exclusively on Vita so there's that.

No post-launch support for OlliOlli on VITA? Well that's disappointing to read. I'm still interested in this game, but I'll be keeping an eye out for OlliOlli's PC port to see whether they announce plans for updates. If they don't, then I won't expect much for Not a Hero either if patches were to be needed.

They're still working on a patch for the Vita.

OlliOlli was broken from day 1. Three months later, not a sign of a patch. They are very busy porting OO and making this new game to support the Vita buyers.

They said the following in this post from PlayStation.Blog a few days ago:

OlliOlli will remain a PS Vita exclusive until summer 2014, and Roll7 is very close to fixing the crash bug that some players are experiencing. When that patch is released, we’ll bundle in a nice little update that should put a smile on people’s faces.

So, it looks like they're still working on a patch for OlliOlli. I'm also interested in what other "nice little update" they have planned. I hope they include persistent online scoreboards, with the ability to compare scores with friends. That's a feature the game could certainly use.

TxK had a crash bug as well that was fixed 3 days after launch, and was way less severe than the OlliOlli one. They should fixed this thing day -1, and worry about fluff later. everyone that asks me about OO, I say that is an excellent game, but it crashes non-stop, so dont buy until is fixed. 3 months later...

It is a matter of priorities.

I'll get it if it's good but I'm still annoyed with their support of Ollie Ollie. Sure...A patch may be on its way now but it took 3 months with little to no communication.

jon bones

i'll buy it, but hopefully they hire a damned QA person jesus

worked so hard for bonked trophies -_-

Is Vita your only gaming platform?

Probably not, but when you have one it's hard to play things like this this on something other than a Vita tbh.

Glad to hear they're STILL working on a patch for OlliOlli. I'm expecting the surprise update to at least include friend scores.

Despite the errors, the mechanics were very good and quite unique imo so I'm curious about what this is.

No, I'm a PC gamer first and foremost but I prefer playing smaller games like these on a handheld while lying down on my bed or during a commute.

I don't think all hope is lost, anyways. It's probably a smarter business decision to release on PC/consoles and then port to Vita later rather than the reverse situation they did with OO.

Really? I'd think the opposite would be the best for business. You wouldn't be selling your smallest audience another late port of a game that's already been in Humble Bundles, Steam sales, etc. You'd be selling them a (timed) exclusive, and if it's a quality game you then have critical acclaim to back expansion onto other platforms. You also wouldn't have to worry about Remote Play usage eating part of your sales.

Hehe, this game looks adorable. Can't wait for Olli Olli to hit steam as well.
