More Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III news coming in future... maybe at E3...

I just can't get excited about FFXV. We have been waiting for so long...and the trailer was running on a high end PC. Who knows how it will translate to PS4? The lighting and physics were something else IMO.

I want to see this game running on PS4 before I get excited

The downgrade is almost guaranteed (Nomura himself said they develop the best they can on PC and then downscale it to various suitable platforms).

However compared to Assassin's Creed Unity and The Division or even The Witcher 3, it doesn't look that insane.

The lighting is fantastic, the particle effects are, too, but everything else ranges from good to bad looking.

Rewatch the E3 2013 trailer and look carefully at the characters' models and textures, they aren't that impressive.
The open area where they fight the various monsters also looks a bit empty.

The truth is this statement is actually an elaborate April Fools joke. :)
Please don't be true.

I do hope though that they start getting Final Fantasy XV into people's hands to play sometime soon. I want feedback for the game so the team can polish it rather than release an poorly made game suddenly.

FFXV and KH3 news during E3:

"We decided to postpone both FFXV and KH3, so that we can focus on our next instalment of FF13, Lightning's Redemption."

There was 7+ minutes of trailers at e3 last year.

But GILGAMESH wasn't in any part of those 7 minutes! For shame!

-----------

I thought the trailers were decent outside of a few things that need work. I was especially irked by the impact of a Iron Giant's large sword being negated by a little stick of a blade. But it looked okay. I just hope it wasn't a smoke and mirror show.

Character models and textures could use some work.

We received complaints for the all-male cast in FFXV so we've replaced them with Lightning (albeit with different costumes for each character).

FFXV will ship worldwide March 3rd 3015!

Don't judge how good a big budget SE title visually looks until the final product is released. We all know they're obsessed with graphics, but they've proven themselves in the past. I feel pretty confident in SE's (how rarely do I say that) ability to make 15 "look" amazing.

It's been a while since i've bought a (Japanese) SE game, so i'll take your word for it.

this actually looks poor. I think these character models are from the PS3 ver. No subsurface scattering on the skin, poor textures.... I am SURE they will improve this

I was really impressed by the physics, It reminded me of Bad Company 2. Every single object had physics to it. From the chairs in the dining room to the small decorative items by the window and the bigger objects like cars also had physics even though it is just a static object in the world. It seemed truly NEXT GEN to me.

Now they will need to utilize PS4's GPGPU for these physics and Xbone simply doesn't have that spare room. Will they dumb the PS4 version down in order to maintain parity with the Xbone version? This is what I am mostly worried about.

I think Square's incredible programming crew can squeeze the rest out of PS4. Great lighting, screen space reflections, good AA etc. I would be devastated if the object physics disappeared

Please at least get a trailer out.

We've had two different trailers, and a nice-sized snippet of gameplay. This is what I hate about FFXV. If you assume game development didn't start seriously until after FF13 (a decent assumption to make), they've made fairly decent, consistent progress since then.

At E3 2011 they had a fairly long trailer that had cutscenes and gameplay. They were quiet for 2012 as far as I know, but then at 2013 they did another four minute or so trailer of story+gameplay, then another one that was just all gameplay.

They've been quiet for a year since then, and I'm not okay with that. But actually if all they have is another trailer, and no release date? I'm not interested. Been there. Done that. Don't care if they do it at Sony's conference or Microsoft's, but this thing needs a date.

The real problem is all the footage we seen are from the PS3 build. It would be interesting to see what the PS4 build looks like. Also, Square is pretty bad about having stupidly long development cycles. FFXII was really bad. The problem with FFXV is that they handed Versus to a team that already had many projects they were working on. Now that the projects are done, I think we will see more complete footage.

The footage from last e3 was running on a high end PC bro. Only that night scene features weak character models imo.

No shit, FFXV is supposed to come out this year for fuck's sake, we've yet to see a real time demo since 2007! There's no way the game is gonna make it this year.

You gotta be kidding me? FFVII coming out and making jRPGs mainstream was around 1998 right? It's been visible only by 16 years. Good job noticing Square Enix!

It is?

I am sure FF XV will look incredible. SE can create some truly beautiful looking games, as evident by their efforts with FF on consoles. Even XIII graphics hold quite well today, and it was unlike any other title on its release.

It is just the spin-offs, that are messed up.

Yea I have no worries about the graphics, and even the battle system.

What I am worried is the character and story/dialogue/pacing, which I felt was horrible in XIII.

The fact that Toriyama is not involved is certainly good thing.

Graphics and battle sytem will be fine.

WORLD DESIGN and progression(good towns, NPCs, Variety, linearity etc) are the main elements I am worried about.

The story will be good this time.Nojima, Nomura and FFXII cutscene director.

Nojima is the writer for XV so have some faith.

But what if it isn't? Nojima isn't perfect.

Didn't he write the exploding Tidus novel?

Yes. Yes he did...

I hope this game sticks true to original concept despite the change of it into a mainline Final Fantasy game. With some maturity, the story may be more engaging rather being one giant suspension of disbelief for the entirety of the game.

Not to mention the KH team and the FFXV team are one in the same. What a strange post.

Man, being reminded that they're the same team makes the whole thing so fucking crazy.

There's no chance they'll be able to deliver KH3 by even the middle of the console generation. This makes the teasers and the promise of more news hurt all the more.

The graphics will be upgraded I expect from the actual gameplay footage. They said they hadn't finished porting it to luminous and some aspects looked decidedly last gen, such as character models and some of the lighting and effects, as well as unique details and object density. I hope they can get it closer to Agni's Philosophy to be honest. It isn't that close yet. If SP can achieve what they have with infamous, they SE can push a lot further than they have shown.

the game isn't running on the luminous engine. it only uses the lighting tech from luminous engine

After all the cutbacks and firings, I think its safe to say, we will never see a luminous engine demo or game in the future. the project is probably dead now

How many days till E3?

Edit: 70. Lol I still remember when someone 30 days ago created a thread named "E3 is in 100 days" or something like that.

Well if XV is supposed to take inspiration from Shakespeare's Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet I hope they can pull it off. I will not expect BERSERK level of dark fantasy. Pretty sure Type 0 was about as close as we'll get to that. But we shall see. Would love to be wrong.

How wrong you are.

Correct. Nojima wrote for X, X-2, and the novel.

At best, I expect maybe a new trailer for XV (and maybe an early 2015 release date), and maybe a short teaser for Kingdom Hearts 3. At best, perhaps the reveal of one new world and a quick story thing.

They're being made by separate teams. Kingdom Hearts 3 is being made by Square Enix Osaka. It's almost certainly not hitting until 2016, though.

I forgot about X-2 the freaking novel/audio.

I haven't really checked the new FFX story content.I don't want that to ruin my appreciation of the game anymore.

I still think that ,on a serious project such as 15, Nojima can and probably will do really well.
