Trust me when I say you guys DO NOT want smooth and silky hair. Its the complete opposite of manageable. My hair is naturally shiny and soft, its like what BadTaste has in that pic but without product. I can't style my hair AT ALL; heck, its so unmanageable that I don't even know why I'm in this thread, lol. Zero volume, resists all products.

Be happy if your hair is thick.

It's only really good if you want to wear it down/long, tbh. It's a blessing for women, but if you're a guy who has short hair... you might be totally out of luck outside of getting a perm or something.

Planning on getting a haircut later today, and I have a question about the name of a particular style: It's a short haircut, 3 on the sides, and the top and bangs cut a little short, but not too short. The bangs are parted up while the top is combed down. The only actor that I can think of is Matt Damon's haircut in the Bourne films.

Anyone know the exact name so I can mention it?

Thanks

My hair just really doesn't like clay, wax, gum or whatever you throw at it. It won't stay at all.

This was a few years back when I had that mullet look going on.

Looking it up, it seems to be an "Ivy League" / "Harvard clip" / "Princeton" but the best bet is to just bring a photo in.

So, pompadour is the mullet of the 10s.

Pomps will never be at that level! :(

Searching for a way to restrain my hair to keep out of my face at work. It's getting long, but still not long enough to tie back, which is my ultimate goal. I'd be doing it for work, so I can't wear a hat or beanie. Some people have told me hairspray works well, but with my thick heavy hair, I'm not sure how strong I need it to be.

A plastic hairband/hairclips could work if you can't wear a hat/beanie. A Buff fabric cylinder works as a beanie/makeshift hairband/etc. if that is an option at all.

My hair has started curling a bit now that it's growing out. Anything I can use to keep it a tiny bit straighter without having to use a straightener in the mornings?

When Layrite said their Super Hold Pomade had a super hold, they really meant it. Might've been a mistake to order the Super Hold version over the regular pomade, but it does a very, very nice job of grouping my hair. Much better than both the d:fi (cheaper stuff made by American Crew) and American Crew pomades I've been using.

My hair does this, too, and I haven't found anything that works aside from getting it cut when it starts becoming too much of a nuisance.

Girlfriend put my hair in a quasi man bun when I got home from work yesterday. She says it don't look too bad, so I may use this outside work as well. Thanks for the advice!

Have you tried this?

Smells great, easy to wash, the shine it gives is just right. My go to styling product right now. Not greasy and doesnt leave that much residue in your hands so you can pretty much use it anywhere. I even have it on my desk.

The look of It's finish is very similar to Rick's of TWD.

What's the difference between Murray's Beeswax and the one that comes in the orange container? They're both pomade, look the same and smell the same.

I use Bumble and Bumble- Sumotech. I've only been able to find it in stores at Sephora. Fantastic hair product, kind of expensive- $28 for 1.5 ounces

looks bad cos he got an obscene receding hairline.
Want to add 4 inchs to your forhead!? pull your hair back with super slick gell and let the sunlight bounce off your newly uncovered second forhead.

what do you call this type of hairstyle or haircut:

where the sides are real short but the top is still long??

last haircut time (2 weeks ago) I asked for a close side fade, leave the top, but it still didnt come out good,

my hair's always poofy and it's still poofin out at the top...

I've usually not had hair this long since like 10 years, just shave it, grow it a bit til it's spiky, shave, repeat,

also I'm so hiphop so hats have always been a wardrobe staple

but I've been single for almost 2 years and I also turn 30 soon so I'm really trying to work on me

and it hasn't worked out... my confidence and self esteem have been at a new low due to appearance and self image, I really do hate who I see in the mirror every morning getting ready for work.

so any help / advice? I've asked for fades / taper fades / so one when going to barbers, but I feel like there's something I'm not saying or asking which is causing me to stay looking the way I do...

It's called an undercut. It kinda looks like your barber cut off a little too much on the top, or you don't have any pomade

I went to one barber once and asked for an undercut and she's like "what's that?"

she did a nice job regardless, she said the key was to blend the faded part with the top part,

but a week later it had all grown back and looked like crap again lol.

anyways I dont really go to that place anymore, I believe that stylist there is more for women,

the place I go now is all guys as clientele, but yes when I go I will ask undercut!!

thanks!

also I do use pomade but again my hair is so poofy that it usually defies any product I put in it.

I really do hate it >_<

Jekki, since you're in socal, i suggest growing your hair out, then heading to Baxter & Finley.

I went there and they did a kick ass job, its a bit pricey, but i've been maintaining the cut they did for me for a while now and i love it.

I was at the salon and got my hair cut, I asked for just a trim and she cut it short..like really short.. I should cut it myself next time.

Is there any difference with getting your sides cut with a scissor rather than a buzzer?

Depends how you prefer it to look. Scissors create a softer more natural look and the person doing it can more easily adjust for the shape of your head or bumps. Buzzer will create a sharper and crisper look but gives less control over head shape and bumps.

will consider it...

I'm actually in OC so I have looked at local stylists where I'll be paying quite a penny for a cut

problem is if my hair's growin out longer ever 3-4 weeks I can't afford to go all the time,

so I wanna find a way to cut my hair that isn't gonna sacrifice a few meals every month.

but if it's just a one time thing and you can maintain it for cheap from there, I'll weigh it against my local spots.

that is, if and when I decide to venture to a pricier stylist

Try going to Rtistic salon or Ahsi. Logan Bros if you like barbers.

This fucking sucks man. If I go a day without shampooing my hair is so god damn oily I can feel it all over my hands if I run them through my hair.

Some ridiculous shit.

Same.

I think to lessen the oils, you gotta start spacing out the shampoos/washes in general and letting your hair get used to it. This takes time though and can be pretty annoying x_x

I used to shampoo everyday, and the days that I skipped a wash would result in the grossest hair ever. Now I shampoo four days a week tops and my hair is far more manageable. Love it.
