'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Well see.

I just don't see how 60FPS is needed. As I noted earlier, MG:R and COD have it, but they are also fast games. TLoU is slower paced, so therefore, what is the point?

1080p isn't "needed", but looks better. Regardless of game pace, 60 fps looks better because anything in motion is smoother, even slow moving things.

No, I'm certainly down with 1080P. No reason not to be Full HD. FPS on the other hand determine how it is perceived during movement, and well, there is a reason these things are played with a controller.

Why would you not want 60fps? Its not going to do anything but make the game feel and look better.

There's like three people in this thread that are actually excited about this games release and everybody else is concerned and miffed about performance and price.

Fucking sad
I'm excited and was going to get it either way but let's not demean people for what they find important.

I'll probably pick this up once I snag a PS4.

I really doubt there's going to be subsurface scattering.

Its just changing their current skin shader. Should not be hard at all really considering they already have more advanced skin shaders which they use in the prerendered cut scenes (as stated in uncharted 2 pdfs).

So everyone's cool with rereleasing a game that came out last year but everyone was upset about Wind Waker HD because ???????

Show me a person who was not happy about Wind Waker HD and is happy about this...if you can't then you are talking out of your ass.

I think there's a lot of developers like Bluepoint that people would take issue with being called "peasant developers", never mind how ridiculous that sounds.

But I'm glad they're killing two birds with one stone this way. Great to get some of the groundwork laid out for next gen proper while updating a great game.

I was joking and No I dont think BluePoint would fall in that "category" as they have made great PS3 ports and the recent excellent Titanfall port on x360.

But I'd rather the original devs work on the "remaster" is possible because they know what needs to be fixed and are legendary masters of PS hardware. So im excited and happy they are the ones handling the job. Anyone else though I would of been alittle uneasy. Im sure I would of been content with BluePoint or Bend if ND couldnt do it themselves.

Right here! Although I bought it anyways because there wasn't much else to get for my Wii U, but the shader changes don't really shine outside of dungeons which is what I had a problem with.

It'll benefit animation a lot and for anyone with an LCD it'll have a higher temporal resolution. As someone who's very sensitive to shifts in motion resolution, that's the biggest thing about 60fps for me, the motion clarity.

Slightly OT, but what might it do visually for an LED TV?

I sold my PS3 a few months before TLOU came out. I would pick this up on the PS4 if they did a Tomb Raider style remaster with all the additional content. Hopefully $40? Plz.

I'm getting it. Again.

I wonder how would 60 fps "aesthetic" fit this cinematic game (not a bad word here).

Maybe the look of 30 fps suits it better. Or maybe they'll implement some cool technique to avoid that amateur video look of pure 60.

Gameplay would benefit from 60, of course.

The OP has listed out everything revealed so far as to what you can expect in the Remastered edition. It's also $60.

A month after release and it will be $30. People are really killing me with the "omg $60 lawll" . This isn't for people who own TLOU already , it's for new comers to ps4 who haven't played. It's also a great deal. I've already spent around $90 on dlc plus the game . I my self wouldn't buy it unless it's cross save or it's price drops to $30 (which it will guaranteed )

My brother plays Dark Souls on PC at 48fps instead of 60fps, because "60fps looks wrong."

And he's a damn hardcore gamer who knows full well, that a higher framerate plays better. Says 60fps ruins the look of the game. Logic says, that there's no way my brother is the only one like that.

It will definitely drop in price... but, by half? A month after release? I'm sure you'll find a crazy good deal come Black Friday but for an everyday price cut? Maybe 4-6months out, and even then I'd be surprised if it was half.

Tomb Raider DE had a flash sale with its price cut In half. I fully expect a summer deal to make TLOU DE cut in half as well. The price is irrelevant, considering it will drop after a few weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if it came to ps4 plus early next year either.
