Still coming? That was never supposed to come, and it never will. The reason you can have both a game and Netflix running at the same time (actually, they aren't technically running at the same time - the game gets suspended (still in RAM but not actively running anymore) when you start Netflix) is because games and OS + apps have separate parts of the memory dedicated to them (5 GB for games, 3 GB for other stuff, as far as we know), so they are both in RAM at the same time. This allows the system to very quickly switch between them. But that wouldn't work with two games. A running game can use up to 5 GB of memory, so two games couldn't be in RAM at the same time. The first game's RAM data would have to written to the HDD (like when you put a PC in hibernation mode), and that would likely take longer than quitting the first game and booting the second.

What we are expecting to come is standby suspension of games, i.e. the game still being kept in RAM as the console is put in standby mode (not when it's fully powered down) so that you can jump right back to where you were when you boot the console again.

You can already do this on Xbox One, I don't believe it's a technical impossibility.

No, you can't sort alphabetically on the PS3. You can sort using triangle, like you said, but alphabetical isn't an option there. I forget what the options are: date, type? But not alpha.

It's not actually instant. There's a 5-10 second delay with the game title screen. That's when it loads it into ram from the hard drive. It's like a hibernate option on Windows. It offloads the RAM contents into the hard drive, then reloads it when you ask for it.

It is "instant" for gaming purposes, but not instant in the same sense as netflix/game are which is the equivalent of snap. Truly running in parallel in separate areas of ram.

That would be an excellent feature to come to the PS4 though. That and sorting of games and friends into groups would make my day.

Actually didn't know the XBO can do this. But no, of course it's not impossible, but as I said it requires dumping RAM to the HDD every time you switch. There are certainly both positives and negatives about that.

And anyway, I'm pretty sure Sony has never said this is coming to the PS4, which is what the original question was about.

That still sounds too fast to be true to my ears. Not saying you're lying or anything, but dumping up to 5 GB of data on the HDD, plus loading the data for the other game, in 5-10 seconds? How is that possible? And how many games can you hibernate at once like this? Surely there's some limit to how much space these hibernation files are allowed to take up.

I've been having an issue recently where all my screenshots display as a gray screen. The only fix I've managed to find is to upload a screenshot, which then displays them all properly. Problem is I have to do this every time I boot up the system, as they appear gray again.

Is this a known issue that will be addressed in the next fw update?

I've noticed this too, especially while in a game, if I close the game application then it lets me view them
