As far as the adaptation goes, I'm not sure what the plan is, but when the Scrapped Princess anime started, the novels weren't complete either. The final two volumes came out while the anime was airing, and I think the final volume was actually released in the same month the anime concluded. I wonder if there's something similar planned here?

Scrapped Princess got 24 episodes out of 13 light novel volumes; if Chaika is only 13 episodes (is that definitely right?) then it might be a pretty tight squeeze to do 9 volumes in that time, although I suppose it's not impossible.

[Engage Planet Kiss Dum] 1 - 14

This is a story about Shoe Aiba. He has red hair and wears a cool red jacket, but not like, all the time.

He's got a bunch of nakama who fight these weird giant monster people, and bugs as well. Some of this nakama even look like sonic the hedghog, but with more NTR possibilities. There's also a megane with long hair who he likes.

Anyway, one day they totally fuck and everything goes to shit. It was really dark, which was surprising, because I thought it would be one of the fun anime. Anyway, then like, it's all okay, because he becomes the NECRODIVER.

The NECRODIVER is totally cool because you really get to show off your abs a lot of the time and fuck up bad guys. He's really strong and really cool.

Anyway, another part of being the NECRODIVER means you get like, these goddesses protecting you and serving as your weapons so thats sweet. But they're like, not a harem because they're all tsundairyes.

Unfortunately, after the apocalypse Shoe ends up roaming around with these two girls with short hair and they really suck. All they do is get in his way and tie him down when he could doing cool shit. They keep getting captured and falling off stuff so I think they're gonna die but then they aren't dead and it makes me sad.

Anyway there's also like, a twintails girl in the show and she's like a witch or something? I don't know. She spends a lot of time in the post-apocalypse sunbathing naked and drinking wine in swimming pools.

Anyway this is a cool show with cool music and lots of action so I'd recommend it to be people who just want a cool action show.

This is how you write a fucking anime review right here.

Chaika (or at least this season of it) is confirmed to be 12 episodes, based on the BD/DVD listings. Vol9 of the books is out tomorrow, and Vol10 should be out around the time the anime ends. Since I don't read the novels I have no idea how fast they're going or when the books are ending, but there's always the possibility that 12 episodes will cover half the books, and there are another 12 some time in the future covering the rest, if the novels end up being as long as Scrapped Princess (12-13 books).

You guys should read the Thomas Romain Space Dandy interview, he only mentions it in passing but it gives you a great idea of just what a well-oiled machine the production of Kissdum was:

I got to work for the studio Satelight as background designer on a SF anime show called Engage Planet Kiss Dum. Despite the fact that some very talented persons were working on it, such as Sushio on the character designs, this anime had the most chaotic production I ever knew during my 10 years in Japan. The writing was so far behind that I couldn't work for weeks, so I started to think of my own project idea.

I really recommend putting Kiss Dum on your backlog schedule for next season. It will change your life for the better.

I genuinely didn't realise that all of Kissdum was available in English. I found what I watched so utterly scarring and ludicrous that I think I tried to pretend it didn't exist.

But at least you can all put it on The List now!

So you could argue that weaboos have chuuni syndrome where they believe emphatically that they are "sugoi otaku" and dress and act funny. Until they grow up and look back and realise that talking in broken romanji and thinking harem anime is the peak of civilisation was ridiculous.

Of course calling them chuuni's already kinda weaboo-ish in itself so there's some kind of meta thing there.

(Damn Kyoani for bringing that word into public usage)

I never got to this stage. I was spared. However I did have to deal with the side effects, such as buying absolutely everything which continues to this day.
At least I never went broke doing it I guess.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH MY FAVORITE CHILDHOOD ANIME BEFORE I KNEW WHAT THE FUCK ANIME WAS

Its highly likely I will like Coffin Princess all the way through the way its going so far but it sucks that its so short. Then again that means I will easily finish it in a timely manner.

Hello there fellow Scrapped Princess fan! *waves*

Yeah it's the author of Scrapped Princess, the director of Scrapped Princess, and the same animation studio that made Scrapped Princess. It's pretty cool how they managed to get the team together again to adapt a fantasy series which is basically.... about another scrapped princess. Lol.

As far as the adaptation goes, I'm not sure what the plan is, but when the Scrapped Princess anime started, the novels weren't complete either. ohhh Ohh scrapped princess vibes ?

*Goes up in my watch list *

i loved scrapped princess despite some of the flaws it had.

I remember KissDum back from the old days. Aired at the same time as TTGL and seemed to get routinely slaughtered on AnimeGAF at the time for being just overall bad.

Wasn't there a screenshot where they gave the main character 2 left hands or a 4/6 fingered hand or something?

Probably. If it aired during TTGL then Im not surprised I missed it lol.

I don't think my heart can take Puchimasu. It's like a :cajun bomb.

You can do it with shounen haato!
Be strong!

Knights of Sidonia 2
This really is a dystopian future. Being bullied for eating food instead of using photosynthesis? Let the Gauna win. The way they fit in some of the exposition/world building in this episode is pretty comical, some of these conversations are so amazingly awkward and forced.

Being heterotroph is suffering

Which is a more crippling character flaw, having to eat food or being too awesome to use simple magic?
Don't forget they're both pathetic because they're seemingly normies compared to everyone else around them.

Now that some crazy talk.
Tanikaze is idiot and genius at the same time, while Mahouka dude is 'Jesus onisama'
You could almost swap the two descriptions and they'd still describe the same character. lol

As much as I love the monogatari franchise it's gonna be a while until I rewatch Nise. I've been rewatching Bake and I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy the BD after my next paycheck. Don't think I'll ever buy Nise though

Hitokage

Setec Astronomer
Gundam Build Fighters 1-2

So basically this is YuGiOh, but instead of bullshitting up card properties and rules they just duke it out like a normal robot fight. Working so far!

Oh, and listening to Sei's mom talk isn't bad either.

Hitsugi no chaika - 01
Pretty good start.

I like the fact that it started with a fight, well 2 fight to be exact , and it got us right into the action.

I do like the 2 siblings and their transformation, it works , get to the point and isn't very showy... not really sure how it works but at first glance i kinda like it. It just seems like a stat boost rather than a skill "gain".
Hitsugi%20no%20Chaika%20-%2001.jpg

Well if you have a quest , better make a party !
Chaika is alright, i don't like how she talk and it should annoy me but it doesn't because her actions are not that bad all things considered , i'm hoping that a serious character develloppement will hapen.

ps: That's not how you bake up bread and does she really need the full spiner ensemble to do a location search ?

Great follow-up

i must admit this episode was pretty good.
The plot is rolling nicely, the main character are competent and the fight in the mansion made good use of traps. i liked the fact that they devised a strategy "on the fly" to answer to the unexpected.

That was pretty good.
Hitsugi%20no%20Chaika%20-%2002.jpg

Well you're not right about that

The pursuers deserve some praise too ... they aren't dumb so it seems that it won't be a normal game of cat and mouse... i like that .
It's too a good move that they decided to go by rationality rather than keeping silent for the sake of it BUT if you do that you kinda have to slow down the "high" attitude ..the 2 other with their "mere saboteurs" talk certainly didn't help. And i certainly don't think that sending a unicorn to kill the girl to be something an ally of justice would do...just saying.

Overall i can definitly see that scrapped princess vibes, from the trio to the concept ... This could be a great adventure to follow.
