2014 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of the Last Hope for Image Quality

Unfortunately I have to agree with this. Watermarking almost implies you think you are good enough that someone will obviously steal your screenshot and claim it for themselves.

OR

They've just had a bad experience or something.

Putting it in such a blatant manner and place within the shot though, completely takes away from the screenshot itself for me.

At least put it at like 10% opacity in a very hard to see place

At least you know how to say it right. Not reacting like some almighty god of thy game screenshotting...

Very very subtle, but it's actually an in-game grainy screen in first screen and an in-game dusty effect in second shot, which makes it grainy yeah.

Looks good either way. I'm probably one of the few who likes grain. (usually when done right though. There are some out there that are ugly/low quality. Left 4 Dead's Grain is probably my favorite.)

Damn it's fun playing around with Extended Cinematic Tools.

200% resolution+MSAA+PostAA(which is FXAA) = that? God damn man, someone over there on the Frostbite engine needs to fix something. AA has always been ass in this engine. And since it's DX11 now, we can't exactly fix it with SGSSAA like you could with Bad Company 2. (Which looks amazing with SGSSAA+Downsampling in DX9. The DX11 MSAA was absolutely awful)

They are nice shots though. Wish you could get better IQ easier.

This thread makes me want to upgrade from my lowly GTX 760 :(

Just don't have the money right now considering any substantial upgrade would be like $400-500

So it's not just me then? I've always felt like BF3 and BF4 suffer from aliasing more than other games, even with MSAA + FXAA. Probably due to all sorts of chroma subsampling.

Never tried SLI but I hear bad things. Stuff like incompatibility and stuttering is a huge turn off.

I've had SLI for over a year now. Can't say I've ever experienced any stuttering. I have 2 4GB 680s.

There are a few games that don't support SLI, but it's rare. In almost every game I play, 2 680s has been better than 1.

Just my $0.02. I'd have no problem recommending SLI to anyone.

That looks insane for New Vegas. That second one is fantastic. The first is cool but impractical, is it all done in game or did you do some post processing with photoshop?

Yes to mobo, not sure on PSU. It's 750w.

Same here. Just a thought though.

As far as I understand it, the stuttering issue has mostly been rectified in the 6xx+ GPU's. Anything 500 series and older still has the issues however.

And also, generally, SLI is usually supported in games and it's usually a better bang for your buck to buy another GPU to SLI + a new PSU if needed than buying a new GPU.

Grand Theft Auto is so god damn whacky

It hasn't been rectified (we're probably a ways off from that), but it isn't as pronounced as it once was. It's just something inherent with how the technology currently works.

I was worried about microstutter when getting my second 780, but I've been monitoring frametimes and as long as you use vsync or cap your framerate in another way, in my experience you see an imperceptible increase in frame times and variance. I have yet to play a game with them where I can perceive the microstutter.

And I do know and have experience what microstutter is. I used 2x ATI 5850s for about 3 and a half years, which were truly awful for microstutter because crossfire generally isn't as good as SLI (for various reasons), and they were miles behind back on the 5850s (a significant way into the 7000 series before people saw meaningful improvements).

Frostbite has had horrible aliasing issues since Day 1. And their attempts to address it have been really subpar.

Check this shot of BC2 in DX9 with 4xSGSSAA with 1.5x1.5 downsampling (essentially the same as 200% resolution)

It's not 100% Perfect but it's better IQ/AA quality than you can get with any other solution with Frostbite. The MSAA in DX11 BC2 is terrible. It barely AAs anything and it has issues resolving around objects that have alpha effects behind them. (Which is an issue that Black Ops II on PC also has but the console versions don't ;which also use MSAA; Same thing with Saint's Row 3/4)
(Don't mind the contrast differences. One of these shots was taken like 2+ years ago. And the above shot a few months ago with less contrast so less detail is crushed)

(4xMSAA btw)

I feel like that shot would benefit a ton from some good SSAO

Same here, I love using my 4GB 670s for games as well and helps at 1440p and downsampling.

That bottom screenshot...hot damn. Are these playable settings/what is your setup? Looks stunning.

Its not wonderfully playable. On average around 22 fps. Game is maxed, with a bit of EnvMap tweaking (and there's HBAO now, woo!), at 4k. I also use SweetFX, for contrast, bloom, and CA. I have a 690 and 3930k.

Definitely playable on some machines :p

Hmm 4k! I guess I could get this playable at 1440p with a 780 Ti, then! Can't wait to try it out once it's released. There's no legit way to acquire the game as of right now, is there?
