I'm a little bit disappointed with the quality of PS+ on PS4 when you have the best on PS3/Vita it's hard to be impressed with the PS4 offering ... I think i prefer a full indie game than a glorified demo ...

What do you expect? The PS4 isn't even a year old....some of you guys are way too demanding

Where do you expect them to pull the titles from? Thin air?...there is not exactly a large pool of titles to pick from here...the PS3 offerings are much more robust because the consoles catalog was huge when PS+ was launched...

Are people seriously complaining? ITS FREE.
People complaining about a cut-down free version of a game?
Pretty good for free.
driveclub ----free. this is an awesome deal :)
Free game is cool stuff.
Its free, just take whats given
At least it's free :)
But crying over something free is ridiculous
are we really going to lose sleep considering it's free?

It might be a good value, or might not. I just wish people would stop calling games on a subscription "free".
Just like movies on Netflix or financed phones on contract aren't "free".
In any case, it gives people the right to complain if they think they aren't getting enough value.

I would ask not to be lied to, but maybe I'm weird to expect things like that.

Goddamn, I get that some people are a little irked, but really, "lied to"?

Sure, technically what they said last year isn't currently the case - but I really don't think they were malicious in their intent. I don't think Rushy or whoever made that original statement intended at the time to have to go back on it. It's obvious that the size of the delay was unexpected, and that is what caused the change. Who knows why? Maybe Sony demanded it, maybe not. We'll likely never know.

I agree - it's annoying when companies don't follow through on their statements, but I feel like it's been blown out of proportion here. The amount of whining over everything this generation so far has been incredible.

PS Plus still offers some great games for PS3 and Vita, it is unreasonable to expect full retail AAA games within the first year available for it. The package is marketed as access to "free"* games, online access, and numerous other features for PS4. Driveclub PS Plus version was marketed as a stripped down version of the full one. With the exception of a very small amount of statements (the platinum one being the only one at the top of my head), the way that the products have been marketed at have been far from "lies". Hell, I'ld say we've gotten a pretty good selection of "free" titles so far, and we'll likely get a good one at E3 (conjecture).

Does anyone actually remember the PS Plus selection of "free" games before the IGC? Despite the lower quality selection then, I feel as if it lead to less complaints.

Sorry for the rant, but I despise this constant negativity (also note, I wasn't targetting this directly at you, Slashen). I really feel for the devs who pour so much work into their games, and then come onto threads like this.

*Yes, I know they're not free - but let's consider your subscription a sunk cost for now, shall we?

When people say free, they obviously mean at no extra cost. You already know that though.

they should release the ps+ version after e3. could help hyping the full game until october.

That could only happen if it's a demo from an incomplete build of the game, but it's not. The PS+ Edition is the final game, just with less content than the full game.

People, you are getting access to the game as part of PS Plus, it's a great deal. If you want more cars and tracks then pay for them and stop whining.

PS+ is a package of services, one of which is the 'Instant Game Collection', the games are not free, they are part of the package you pay for. If you don't care about them, if you'd have paid for it just for online, if it's the only part you care about, none of that is relevant. They are part of the package, they are not free. However, people say free just because we all (or most at least), understand what that means in the context it's being used.

The PS4 catalog is very small at this point, you can't compare to the PS3 that has 7 years of catalog.

Free literally means at no extra cost. Why would that need to be clarified and how does that take away from his point?

Duhh... He's saying that the demo, or whatever the hell they're releasing on PS+, is not free because you have to pay the subscription fee, which is fine if people were insinuating that the game was free without the subscription, but they clearly aren't unless they're baboons. So in this case, if you're subscribed to PS+ you get part of the game at no extra cost, unlike MGS:GZ for example.

What about comparing it to Vita then?

First month of Vita PS+ games were Mutant Blobs Attack, Uncharted and Gravity Rush. Shortly after we got Wipeout, MGS Collection and Lumines.

I'm not going to go through the points I went through exhaustively yesterday. If your reading comprehensions are so low that you can't keep up with the thread that's a you problem. Since some literaly contested it being free I've had to literally post and clarify and add that "free to Plus members" countless times to my posts. Moving along. The thread ran its course yesterday.

I just wish people would stop calling games on a subscription "free".

What would you (or anybody else) suggest for a precise term that could be used for games that you can access as a subscriber of PS+?

Until there's a better word, I choose to call the games "free" out of convenience. I trust the listeners/readers to understand what I mean in the context.

Well Sony needs to pay for those added development costs, need people to buy the game. Sony is losing me. I still think it's the best option for me, but with the PS4 plus offerings so far, this announcement, studio layoffs and project cancellations, they have fallen a lot from where the company was prior to the PS4 launch. IF The Order ends up getting delayed, which I think is a possibility than I would consider the PS4's first year and Sony's effort a complete failure.
Infamous is great, but when the PS4 was announced and through E3 of last year and beyond Sony was just hyping and hyping and so far they haven't really delivered anything.
I'm not saying the console is failure or anything like that, or that Sony is done etc Just that I feel that Sony did not live up to the expectations they set.

What is the correct adjective for something 'taken' from a library? On Netflix people just call it streaming, in physical libraries I think I'd say 'I got this from the library'. Neither really applies here.

Seems to me Sony pulled a 180 on what was promised based on what they said in 2013 before it was delayed.

They raised expectations to create a buzz for the game (and PS+) so fair game if they're called out on that.

Tired of companies overhyping their products and then they can't be criticized.

'games that do not require an additional charge over and above that of my Playstation Plus subscription in order to play them until such a time as my Playstation Plus subscription expires'.

Or, GTDNRAACOAATOMPPSIOTPTUSATAMPPSE for short.

Here's a different take and also not even on topic. Pathetic.

Ugh, over a promised free to Plus members game? That's hyperbole.

Have they confirmed the platinum is even still possible? If you can't play in 4 of the 5 countries how can you get a platinum? I look forward to finding out this too got changed and being told by the Sony apologists that I am an entitled whiner.
I do not know if they have. If they have then yes you would have justification to moan, because it is either true or false, 0 or 1. Not any decimal point in between.

Just because you are limited to one country does not mean that you can't platinum the game. That would just simply imply there will be no trophy related to things like 'complete a race in every country' or 'complete a race with every car'.

Alternatively, they could have two trophy lists. It would be lame but not outside the realms of possibility.

Edit: looks like you got your answer whilst I was posting, platinum still possible. I guess you'll have to vent your anger on something else ;)

I'm not too concerned with Driveclub PS+ having content cut, I'm worried that other games will follow suit

It's more or less a demo with a discount for Plus. Let's not jump off the deep end here. The free version is still going to be free to Plus members.

And you still can. Nothing has changed.

You said:
- You can earn the platinum trophy in the PS+ Edition, remember its the full game minus a few cars/tracks.

If nothing has changed, is the game severely lacking content or was that second part of the statement a lie?

What on earth. I don't even...

Way to highlight what works well for you. The whole quote was " IF The Order ends up getting delayed, which I think is a possibility than I would consider the PS4's first year and Sony's effort a complete failure."

And yes if Infamous Second Son is the only GOOD game that Sony was able to get out on time in the first year of the consoles release, then yes I would call that a failure. Again, didn't say the console is doomed, but that is not a successful first year for me a consumer. For Sony, it was great they beat their sales expectations which everyone seems so happy about, because that really helps the consumer right? All I've seen is Sony's sales numbers go up while their first party studios continue to have projects canceled, layoffs, departures and delays. Once again, IF The Order is delayed, explain me to how that was a successful launch year for Sony? From a consumer prospective. You don't need to blindly defend Sony because you bought their console.

This sentence makes no sense. For Sony, or for the PS4 owner, it's two separate questions. Sony is having an astounding first year, they've done nothing, and they can't make the consoles fast enough.

Here's a different take and also not even on topic. Pathetic.

How is it not on topic? Driveclub on PS plus was a selling point that Sony used for the PS4. The delayed the game almost a year and now are giving a game that's closer to a demo, not saying it's demo but it's closer to a demo than a full game. To me that's just one more in a string of bad moves on Sony's part. If you don't agree, that's fine but back up your opinion. What has Sony done for consumers in the PS4's first year?

You can call it a "rental". Its a far more accurate term than calling them "free".

People are flipping shit because they went from "slightly scaled down" initially to mean more than half the content removed which we learnt recently, not because it is a scaled down version alone.

This thread is truly disgusting. I can't believe how people are complaining about this. At this point Sony should just not offer the PS+ edition anymore.

Do we know the full car and track list? I haven't seen one so how can you say 'half the content removed'?

They talked about there being five regions even before the delay. Only one region is in + version of the game so unless every other region only has one track in it then it's pretty easy to assume it's only at most like 20% of the full game.

When was it "slightly scaled down"? the only thing ever said about it was that you can get the plat trophy in the PS+ version which doesnt tell you how much content there is at all, really.

because you don't pay for the games, period.

you pay for the online services. the free games are value-added content.

if you are insisting you're paying for the games, might as well say you're paying for the discounts, for the deals.

so 5 bucks a month divided by everything, including cloud saving, discounts, online mp access, themes, wallpapers, avatars, timed trials, automatic game and patches downloads while on standby, games across 3 platforms.

so you're whining about something you'll spend less than 1 dollar in the month of october

yet you feel you are entitled for more content.

The platinum is "hours played" isn't it?

It might be one of the easier platinums I guess. But good to get clarification. The 'how many tracks qualifies as a few' is a pointless argument open to interpretation so at least we have a clear statement on the platinum.
