I will do it. I will gladly make a Precure OP for yall. Put my name all over it and take all the criticism from normalgaf.
But you have to help me make it.

.

Well I guess two things to address on my end

1) I would be happy to help in this case but...

2) I don't think the thread will last given our general attitudes on our opinions. We'd be locked faster than that one community

Why do you think that? Just have fun with it. thats what this is about. thats what Precure is about!
Well also selling plastic things.

Because PrecureGAF is a community that actually killed itself before we even had a thread. If I had more time to basically state my reasons for not wanting a thread, I'd give em to you (and probably piss people off.)

Or rather, to sum it up, our mindset (AnimeGAF, not GAF in general) cannot sustain such a thread. MahouGAF is a better alternative.

agreed. Once again Madoka treaded that fine line
unless you count the movie hehee
I haven't watched the movie yet, but the Internet already spoilt me every minute of it. :|

Aren't we supposed to start a animegaf news website also?
Can't help with that, but I am currently working on the Dream Machine. (hope thats not self-promotion... well, it is. Not "too much" self promotion? I don't even know. Just NTR my post, when this is wrong.) Its not finished yet, there are many technical things that I need to get right, but the random anime generator works fine.

edit:
If you have suggestions and tips, please share them with me. A friend of mine suggested, that I should allow anonymous submitting and commenting protected by captcha. Would that be a good idea?

the problem with a general mahougaf is it would be difficult to define what a mahou shoujo is unless fringe shows would be allowed. It would eventually devolve into discussing entirely different kinds of shows with just a threadbare relation to mahou shoujo. I predict a lot of infighting there too. If people were mature about things perhaps it wouldnt be so, but I know better.

As I stated with chickdigger, it's not actually a problem in terms of defining what is what. It's a pretty open genre as far as I'm aware, and not really restricted to like say... "Simulation Racing". It's not actually quite as specific as you think.

Infighting would probably be less of a problem, but I do fear that happening. It would be more sustainable with a general MahouGAF though.

Yeah, there's not much that really *defines* a mahou shoujo anime other than "girls dressing up and getting super powers". And as far as I'm aware, Kill la Kill would fit nicely in that regard!

But what would a MahouGAF be restricted to? General fantasy anime? Shows with just magic in general? I'm willing to bet on the latter.

Not a Jdrama podcast?!?!
(What's yours called?)

The site is called Podcastination, it covers multiple themes. My two friends are in all the podcasts, but not me. I'm in every bimonthly manga podcasts (where basically we review the latest volumes of manga we read during two months), and I was also in the podcasts about Pokémon, with other guests.

It's in French obviously.

No Game No Waifu 4

Again, the Phoenix Wright jokes were great. Not sure if it was the translators, chances are it was or that I misunderstood, but the fact that he knew how to run a society because 'he has played Civ. ' made me laugh way too hard if it really was a Sid Meier reference. The anime has been great so far, the lead male is charismatic. I really do hope they kick some ass.

edit: as to the power chart, I still don't get how Kurapika is ranked lower than Killua and Gon considering all the bullshit 'fool this isn't even my final form (chain)' in the previous arc.

Man I'm loving this show and the Civ references was what cemented this show as best of the season for me

I dunno but Saint Tail better be part of the discussion.

There is a clear and distinct style for both pre and post Sailor Moon magical girl shows. Titles that are borderline or grey area aren't that big of deal, and besides, it would be a community thread anyway.

Also, at no point does Ryuuko use magic in KLK. :p

Went for a (virtual) shopping spree.

Having BRs from two regions is great ^_^

I was very happy to find Blue Exorcist coming here and being able to buy at a decent price. Really want to see it in Blu-Ray. I have not watched yet the main series but I was told here that it was not really necessary. I may watch it anyway.

For Fate/Zero, that will be a great motivator to play Fate/Stay. I have heard that Fate/Zero is great and to stay away from Fate/Stay anime. As I planned to play the VN anyway, this works great for me.

Steins;Gate

I can't remember what was the last time I was so into something, this has been an amazing ride and I feel really happy about it.

First I played the VN, I have always been really curious about Steins but I resisted the temptation to watch the anime, I wanted to play the game so it was fantastic when I learnt that it was coming. This has been my second VN this year (first was Danganronpa) and my fourth in my live (Don't take it personal... and Katawa Shoujo were the first ones). And I felt really engaged it, I felt the story made sense within its own rules, I felt really attached to the characters, the art and music was great and the ending was incredibly powerful. Far from being exhausted of 30 hours of game, I wanted more.

My plan was watching the OVA and the film, but before I realized I was watching the anime from the first episode. This is a first to me, I am not usually interested in rewatch something when I know how it goes, but I thought that it would be fun to see the characters in a new light.

It was a pleasant ride, not so intense as the VN, but very nice on its own right. I think they nailed the pace and were mostly spot on how they decided to cut the material to fit in the series format.

Given that I went immediately from the game to the series, thought it would be fun to make a comparison. Heavy spoilers ahead:

Obviously, the VN has much more material and allows for way more exposition for the characters.

This has a positive side and a negative one. For example, the beginning of the VN is really, really long and takes its sweet time to gain speed. The nice thing of this is that you get ton of information and characters are introduced in a more natural way, but it has its disadvantages (not everything is as useful or interesting, you get much more Okabe being a clown).

On this point I found the characters in the anime less extreme than in the VN. In the VN, when Okabe was stupid he was REALLY stupid, but at the same time, when he was desperate, in despair or trying hard to keep going on, it felt more intense in the VN. With Kurisu it was the same, in the VN she was "bigger", at some moments it was even a quite unbelievable how intelligent, supportive, clever and "dominant" of the scene she was, while in the anime she looked more "normal". And it happened the same with some scenes, they were more intense in the VN, especially the one of the Kurisu stabbing, it really hurt to watch in the game after all I had experienced at that point.

Keeping with this about "intensity", I was a bit disappointed in how the anime managed the cancellation of the D-Mails, but at the same time I fully understand that it had to be that way. After all, each cancellation was a full episode in the game, so they were much more fleshed out. In the VN, the episode with Faris allowed to really get into the character beyond the façade, and the train-wreck that was the episode with Ruka in the VN was quite tame in the anime in comparison. Again, the problem of time, I get it, in the game you had a full episode and you were his boyfriend for third complete days plus one more of time lapse, so they could really get down on how much a disaster it was. The final scene in that episode of the game, with Ruka saying "Goodbye my love" was really harsh to watch. In the anime all was less emotional.

And then, of course, there was the fact that in the game you had the false endings, which added to the story in their own way. Those were great stories on their own, especially the one from Suzu, when Okabe almost lose it trying to live a day in eternal loop, and the one with Nae. I was actually surprised they didn't use that plot, but I guess that having a little girl stabbing people is a fast way to get a higher rating. In the game that scene was incredible and I felt agitated when she told me who she was and what was going to happen in the future, all in that child's voice, brrrr.

As another plus of the game, the art of the character really added to them. It´s funny how static images can feel more imposing than animated ones, but I'm sure the anime would look weird it if tried to imitate the colour of the art, so no complains, just an observation

I'm ready to acknowledge that part of the "problem" is that I have experienced the VN before the anime so I knew the story and it lost impact in a second watch, so there is that. But I can't help to prefer how it was in the game, letting clear that I loved the anime too and understood the sacrifices it had to made. I'm really glad I played first and watched the anime after it, it was a hell of a ride and I'm glad of being able to buy the complete collection to have it with the beautiful box of the game, I will smile each time I see them in my shelves.

After all that I watched the OVA and the film. It was fanservice, as I expected, and I am really glad of it because that was exactly what I wanted, a bit more of these characters, some winks and a pleasant way to say goodbye to them. I felt the movie did a risky jump with its plot but I wasn't a disaster and served well for the kind of story it wanted to tell. I really hope they don't think on any kind of sequel (with these characters as main ones at least).

As you can notice by this long, long post, I feel really excited and happy of having experienced this. I'm not a romantic guy, it uses to put me off, but this was the most beautiful and balanced love story I have seen, I loved how natural it merged with the story, how it had the right amount of exposition to not be distracting and how it highlighted the most powerful moments of the story.

Hope it was ok to post all these here instead of the official thread of S;G, I will edit and cut and paste if it doesn't belong here. It's rare I have the time to write anything meaningful in this thread and even when I have it I'm not really confident enough in my knowledge or my writing to try, but after so many hours engaged on this I felt I could bring something mildly interesting to the thread and wanted to share it.

Gundam 00 S1 - 16

A clip show with a bit of foreshadowing. Interesting.

So now we have
these three newcomers joining the fray, and nobody knows anything about them. Okay, well I can expect an explanation for them in the next episode given its title.

Also, I'm getting some serious Valvrave vibes from this super secret organization that appeared in this episode. These guys apparently know quite a bit about Veda and Celestial being and, I assume their keeping it secret from the rest of the world.

Looks like shit's about to get real again really fast judging from the title of the next episode as well.

You know what I hate? When two of your friends stop by to watch the new season of Mushishi at 1AM but instead of watching it they fall asleep in a matter of minutes. I was gonna sleep on that couch. -.-

That's why you gotta get mad hyped before you watch Mushishi by chugging a few Vodka Red Bull's.

I usually watch anime at night, and I always want to be focused for an episode of Mushishi, so now I'm two episodes behind what's currently airing because I can never find the right timing.

Guess I should try harder.

Mushishi doesn't seem the ideal show to watch tired at night haha (just three episodes of S1 in, love it but it really has a kind of relaxing tone).

Ping Pong - 4

Despite the lesser quality character art in places, I think this show does a good job of masking that with its flashy presentation. It also helps that the brisk pacing rarely ever lets up.

The music they used during the set up and throughout Peco and Sakuma's match was so hype.

Man that bluray thread is depressing. Digital streaming will NEVER replace physical media in my heart. I collect things to enjoy them over and over. Ive watched some things up to a hundred times. With digital I just dont see that sorta thing happening or the availability of certain titles, especially rare/oop ones.

all you need is a nice hot cup of morning Thunder tea. Its really great stuff for waking you up.

What certain Anime ending has made you feel like this.

To the point where you don't know what the hell to say.

Evangelion & Soul Eater are really the only two that come to mind.

But fuck them both.

Yozakura Quartet & Problem Children, but that's because they didn't have an ending. I need moorreee!

Those who know the pleasure of having a collection to look at or to watch , will never go digital.
Digital does help in some cases , but collecting and making a collection "your own" is a pleasure that won't be matched by digital delivery anytime soon.

Girls Und Panzer Collection [Blu-ray] here i come !

Seeing all of this multiple region blu-ray talk, anyone know if the PS4 can play blu-rays of multiple regions? I know it isn't region locked for games, don't know about movies.

Subete no aware
Hence aint nobody got time for that.
Indeed, this is why the ToonamiGAF podcast fell off so quickly.
I just think no one wants to actually do it, because you could put out a lazy version of the podcast really quickly if one wanted to. lol

Ah, cool. Do you guys have an RSS feed?
Now do the jdrama cast. lol

Firehawk is #4 in the thread ATM. White people TV must be on the decline.
