'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' trailer (PC/XB1/PS4/360/PS3, Nov 4th) [Up: Info]

I based my conclusion, by watching the Call of duty games released on Nintendo system in the past years. I don't see a reason to skip the Wii U now. And Diablo is a complete different story (Maybe more hardcore oriented game).

Example of Wii U's irrelevance when it comes to Call of Duty:

NPD data:

Call of Duty Ghosts - 6.1 million copies were sold in its debut month (November 2013)

360: ~3382K
PS3: ~1856K
PS4: ~451K (on a brand new system)
Xbox One: ~392K (on a brand new system)
Wii U: ~20K (on a 1-year old system)

With these kind of debut numbers, what's the point of porting to Wii U, honestly? So Activision will lose out on 20K sales? 40K sales? That might not even cover the cost of the port.

The only financial gain I see for Activision is if Nintendo partially finances or sponsors this port.

Good lord this looks sick. Those guys at CoD sure do know how to hype up a game -- no wonder they rake in the money so well.

Looks good. I'm actually interested to see how well this will do compared to previous entries.

Also respawn are basically cracking open the champagne with this. Obviously this game has been in development for a while but it further legitimises the idea that shooters this gen have to have advanced movement options and a future motif.

This insures that there will be a lot of overlap between players of Titanfall Halo COD rather than they being wholely separate fanbases

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
Kevin Spacey channeling Frank Underwood in a video game is a pretty good hook. But I want to hear gameplay details before getting hyped / disappointed.

If true that is crazy.. paying $60.00 for a 6 hour game, and not playing the games best feature (online) is tough to imagine.... What a waste. For all the hate CoD gets for it's online play, it's still a good game to jump online and play a few matches. I've actually found Party chate is a good way to zone out the random 10 years olds crying into the mics, screaming racial obsenities, or the random "online tough guy (huge e-pein) " trash talk that is rampant in CoD MP..

It's the best feature for you, and there's nothing wrong with that. For a bunch of other people, the best feature is split-screen co-op.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
So are they going to pretend that this is exclusive to Xbox and quietly release it on PS? I don't understand these marketing tactics. A game releases across multiple formats but they go "No, no, this belongs on Xbox (but please, by all means, buy also on PS).

If it does come to Wii u, we won't know for many months. They always announce the wii u version very last for last 2 versions

But, I'm fairly amazed that COD immediately ripped off Titanfall Parkour. I guess they really thought it would be the new hot thing?

So, they started development in 2010/2011. Long before we even knew what Titanfall was all about or how it looks.

How do you rip off something you know nothing about?

Wow that actually looks awesome.

I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've said that about a CoD since Call of Duty 4.

Keep up the good work Sledgehammer.

Yup. Ghosts has around 700-800 players in mp at night right now on WiiU. It's a shame because Gamepad and Wiimote integration are so great.

Also, nice avatar :)

I know! I played CoD exclusively on the 360 last gen and went with the Wii U for Blops 2. If it had the player base it would have been great. I loved playing on the Gamepad.

its like when two similar movies release in the same year.

two movies about mall cops in 2009. This year we get two movies releasing a month apart about doppelgangers. stuff like that.

Thanks for the Info. And what are the lifetime sales of Ghosts on Wii U?

And, sorry, but that suit just reminds me of this:

G.I. Joe "Accelerator Suit". Lovely.

Boosted jump = parkour now.

No wiiu? Not surprised.

Black Ops 2 and Ghosts were both announced months after the original platform announcements. So, that may be what's happening here. It's also possible that Activision has just decided to dump the console when it comes to CoD because of how poorly Ghosts did.

I'm a bit disappointed by how it looks... Cross generation is really holding those games down, I feel.

But it looks like it could be fun, so, eh!

It doesn't look bad, but I hate how conservative they're being. I understand there's some fear of losing the casuals if they go all out, but honestly, just bring on CoD: Intergalactic Warfare already. Show some guts, do something obscenely creative with a creatively struggling franchise.

I agree. And what are the supposed to do? Continue to pump out the same game with the same mechanics? Hell no. They're just adapting to what seems to be gaining traction.

Also, wall-running =/= climbing walls and jetpacks =/= super jumps.

Huh, this is the very first Call of Duty game that I might actually be interested in. I always liked sci-fi or "advanced" scenarios moreso than historical based (WW1/WW2) or the Modern Warfare stuff. The trailer actually got me a bit hyped.

It's definitely a pretty annoying and deplorable marketing tactic. Xbox started it first back with MW2 and GTAIV, but now we're seeing it with some PlayStation ads/games.

It seems like every game company is looking for some excuse to either attach a game to particular platform, or just to show it off on the big stage of the next big games convention.

Yep yep. Though I imagine COD will continue to come to the Wii U despite poor sales numbers.

Well it is the Xbox One version -- could possibly be 720p again. Should be 1080p/60 on PS4 with better AA.

Both MS and Sony have been doing this for a long time. They want these big franchises to be associated tightly with their console.

Activision has never abandoned Nintendo. On the other hand they haven't really shouted for Nintendo from the rooftops either. historically.

Remember, this is the publisher that actually botthered to port three Tony Hawk games to the N64, including releasing one after even Nintendo considered the N64 dead.

You know somebody's going to bring up Yves Guillemot's quote about how it cost them €1M to do a Wii U port and thus they only need to sell 50K copies to break even without considering that A) not all games will cost the same amount to port, B) Activision isn't interested in just breaking even on their products and C) whatever development resources could be used on a port could be making something much more profitable. Or they'll pretend that COD has some sort of long-tail on the Wii U beyond initial month sales, so the numbers are obviously much better.

I'm 50/50 on whether there's an SKU. It's probably one of the few third party "core" titles that does recoup costs and make a profit. But then as noted above, that team could be making DLC for the other 6.09M buyers.

Don't care on any moral or philosophical basis about COD ripping them off. But let's be honest here. The massive hype of Titanfall and the supposed parkour elements of this game are no coincidence. ~1 year (or even half a year) is plenty of time to make some major changes to game mechanics and balancing.

We don't even know if any of these mechanics are implemented into the playable built yet, at this early stage. For all we know, this trailer could have just been for show--a proof of concept, of sorts.

CoD used to hype me but not anymore. MP will play the same and after playing other shooters I really prefer high skill ceiling, more recoil and less aim assist. Just can't tolerate CoD's MP any longer.

Before WE knew.... But these industries are full of low level people who share information all the time. It's not coincidental that stuff like Antz / a Bug's Life or White House Down / Olympus Has Fallen exists. Big names leaving studios may make headlines but these games are made by hundreds of people - it's inevitable that someone at some level is sharing information, whether on a casual level with a friend in the industry, or whether they are changing jobs and bringing some unwritten knowledge with them.

Thanks man, I love me some Rooney Mara.

They only have to port the old gen version to Wii U. So i don't see the problem. And sales are sales for them. Its activision, they are not going to skip any platform. Thats for sure. And they know that the Wii U is going to have a big momentum with the release of MK8.

Come on son...if you honestly believe this I do not even know what to say.

Probably the latter given the abysmal sales and that it's a "next-gen first" production.

I'm kind of excited to see some new things in a COD, but as a fan of the franchise, I'm also a little afraid of how much they're going to change in multiplayer.

Indeed. I think Nintendo has some sort of deal with Activision to bring COD to the Wii U so long as it's cross gen.

The last cod I bought was MW3, havent bought a cod since... also the last cod I played online was MW2. I only bought the Modern warfare series for the story but now, after seeing this trailer, I think I may dip my hand on some more cod.

I recall it starting with MW2 and GTAIV on the 360. Sony only first started following suit with BF3 in 2011, and now Destiny/Watch_Dogs, etc.
