I've been looking for a new game to buy for a while, but the next-gen drought is real. I can play Killer Instinct forever (because its goat), but it's nice to have options.

Sell your bone and buy ds2 and a PC.

Although KI is really fun, no game touches PvZ in my eyes lol. Once you get a feel for the mechanics and start building your own metagame, especially if you're playing with friends, the game is insanely fun. The fierce competition of Gnome Bomb is something I reallyyyy want to see in Halo where you have to bomb multiple sites instead of just the one base three times; it could be an alternate gametype under Assault.

I've always considered going the PC route, but the games I really want to play are usually on console (KI, Halo, Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, Last of Us). There's never been a PC game exclusive that I've really wanted to play.

Maybe I need to play it, lol. It looks good, I just don't feel like spending 30-40 bucks on a multiplayer only game when I got bored of TitanFall after a couple weeks. Granted they both play very differently I would imagine the number of game modes are around the same.

Let's put it this way: my friends were crazy excited for Titanfall, but I told like 10 people already, "Get PvZ man, you won't regrettt itttt, just trust me." And slowly I've been getting more people on the game.

Once they tried it that was it; they were HOOKED! It's our go-to game and poor Titanfall has pretty much been left behind as the back-up game if we want to mix things up. I can't stress this enough, PvZ Garden Warfare is a game I think people need to play more and give a legitimate shot because why only support the huge titles that rehash the same shit we've grown tired of for so many years? That's just something I have in the back of my mind because the main reason I advise people to play the game is because it's actually insanely enjoyable, especially with friends.

If any of you guys decide to get it, shoot me a message and I'll definitely invite you to some games. Once you're halfway decent, you're going to forget all about Titanfall. For real, Titanfall has nothing on PvZ lol

Sorry for derailing this thread a bit, but there are some things happening in PvZ that I feel would work great for Halo (colorful art style, orgasmic sound effects (seriously, I just feel HAPPY when playing that game), smooth controls, fast/frantic gameplay, skill curve to be nasty with all the characters/abilities, teamwork oriented without FORCING it on players through gameplay changes like increasing kill times and making an inconsistent BR, etc.).

Welp, the E3 hype train is in full motion now.

I hope MS locks all the interns in their cubicles to prevent Halo 5 from leaking minutes from E3 ...

Oh, here is some actual news about Halo.

Showtime Near Deal to Partner with Xbox Studios on ‘Halo’ Series
Xbox Entertainment Studios is deep in negotiations with Showtime to develop a live-action “Halo” drama series that is a high-priority for the Microsoft production unit headed by Nancy Tellem.

Xbox Studios has been developing a drama series spin on the vidgame franchise with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV banner for more than a year. It’s understood that the company is close to a deal with a pair of showrunners to steer the series adaptation of the expansive bible developed by screenwriter Stuart Beattie, but the deal is not envisioned as a straight-to-series pickup.
The deal with Showtime has taken a long time to work out because the sides are charting new territory for a show designed to air on Showtime as well as Xbox, with enhanced interactivity built in for the latter platform. Details are still being hammered out but sources say the plan is to have episodes bow on Showtime first, followed by the Xbox window.

4 or 5 more CODs and Halo will be a spin off of Call of duty.
Cheif will 360 quick scope the Didact in Halo 8 confirmed.
Arcadia City's level took us a good two hours. Had to stop because of boredom, after loosing more than 5 times. But I guess it's because we're still discovering the game. I can see it being easy once you're familiar with the game, though.

I'll probably try multiplayer, even though the last players must be goddamn invincible, by now, right? The only problem I have is that I have a lot of stuff to play, and Wars takes half of my HDD Space. It can't stay there forever. :p
That level can suck, trying to defend the ships is pretty hard on legendary.

Surprisingly not, don't get me wrong there are some insane teams on there that have incredibly well thought out (and fast) tactics. But I've only been playing for a week now and win pretty frequently.

Sweet, I get to use a companion app to look at maps of key locations.

Doesn't have to be mandatory, could be an option in the menu, could automatically activate, it's supplementary to the experience seeing as how Halo Wars worked fine without it, etc.. Also, I play with a little stand in front of me where my mouse/kb are for my desktop, so I could easily stand my iPad on that as a large minimap, and the same goes for anyone with a desk. Shit, it could just be a big ass timer to show your units are recharging; the timers for when units respawn so you don't have to highlight your bases................

Can't shake the feeling that means "Halos open spaces were kinda cool I guess BUT HOW ABOUT THEM CQC THOOOOO SO GOOD AMIRITE HALO FANS"

The problem is that, with regards to open playspaces, Combat Evolved hit a decent mix by being in the shape of a bottle: it starts out as tight CQC and inviting to even the most babby of babby, before opening up into the titular vista we all know and love. Even in its most linear levels, such as the Library, it's counter-balanced by the game throwing as much of the weapon sandbox at you as it can.

By contrast, Halo 4's janky-ass bong-shaped sandbox curve starts out linear, opens up with no fun open things to do save for a 10-minute drive, climaxes early at Reclaimer which is still admittedly on-rails, and stays hella linear up until you get a certain level of "Library Sandbox Openness" in Midnight where you're stuck in linear corridors but get a shitton of weapons. Since 4's Forerunner sandbox involves taking a UNSC weapon and exponentially roiding it up, the effect isn't as pronounced.

Nothing about the mission really felt like Halo: CE. If anything, it felt more like Halo 2 , with the enemies coming in through the tubes in the windows, and cortana's voice as some parts sounded near exactly the tone of voice she used in Halo 2.

Also literally every Halo game has had close quarter combat levels in it. I don't see how his tweet could be new or shocking

The problem with this viewpoint is that the two or so instances of actual non-linear objectives (from memory) in Halo CE are the end of the mission Halo and the Silent Cartographer. (Saving the marines is boring, I generally shoot them). Otherwise it's just the Master Chief traveling from A to B for the rest of the game, although I agree that some missions threw most of the sandbox at you as a consolation, e.g. AotCR.

I agree, Reclaimer was pretty disappointing, as were the Promethean weapons. I still can't get over the fact that the Chief had to designate the target for the Infinity when it was literally right next to the gravity well.

Exactly! Didn't feel like CE's first mission. In fact, even with CQC, it wasn't all that linear. You could still approach most of the encounters however you wanted. Same with The Maw.

Halo 4 wasn't really like that. Felt more like Halo 2, like you said.

Is that satire?

>Complains about normal difficulty
>Didn't understand what happened in Halo 3
>Unscripted events are "boring"

I can't

I liked this review better

Its satire bro. Kinda. You never watched Yahtzee's reviews? They all rip the game apart in funny generalizations.

He's on point with some things though.

IE the game being about going from different USB ports so Cortana can do work. Pressing buttons and all that.

And the ghost (librarian) downloading you a file so you can beat Didact

lol

Pretty interesting POV.

Was Scott there for Halo 4 or one of the new hires? Also no wonder the starting of Halo 4 felt great,it did feel like Halo and i enjoyed that part. Later on though i disliked it all the way. As much as i bag on the campaign for Halo 4, i think the start was nice. I guess the new enemies aren't fun to fight especially the nights. I don't mind the little doggy guys.

He previously worked 343 as lead designer on H4, now works at Visceral. At least that is what his twitter bio says.

Sorry to be off-topic, but I'll be hopping on Halo 4 at ~10pm MDT tonight, gonna try out multi-team and Heavies. Gonna to try to play into the wee hours of the morning since I haven't been on in couple weeks.

Yup. Probably one of my favorite levels in the game. It instantly reminded me of Halo's opening level and Halo 2's opening level. It was like a combination of the two. You had the corridors of Halo 1 and the hanger bay feeling of Halo 2. I know most of us I included give 343 shit over Halo 4 but ti did have a couple of levels which were good. If they can have more open levels in the vein of Halo 1 & 3 and reduce the whole go here hit switch then Halo 5 could be right up there with the first 3 games.

It's weird though. Halo 4's campaign is growing on me slowly the same way Halo 2's did. I thought Halo 2's was very linear and wasn't as good as the other 2 games for a long time but slowly grew to love it as much as 1 & 3. I have a feeling I'll end up doing the same with 4.

Now multiplayer wise unless they get rid of armor abilities and the random ordinance shit in 5 there isn't a chance in hell I'll seriously play it. But if the campaign is good I'll be happy since that's always been my bread and butter with Halo.

Wow, story is getting pretty enjoyable, implications at the end of the issue are pretty big!

When do we get #6?

All this campaign talk makes me want to run through H4 again.
