The Last Of Us 2 teased?

I don't get how people could not want more TLoU?
It is such a great story. Just think if all good stories were one offs we'd never have the Matrix II & III, Godfather III or the Star Wars Prequels!

If the reveal is impressive I expect the concerns to calm down a little, after how great the story in TLOU was I don't know why people don't believe they can tell another great, meaningful story, they already did with Left behind.

People who don't want an Ellie Last of Us Sequel need to get over it, its really probable.

Left Behind was another story with her, nobody exploded

The problem with a direct sequel is that it hurts the ending of the first game. No matter what they do or how good it is, it'll ultimately fall short of simply letting people fill in the blanks on their own. Providing any more concrete information detracts from that. Even if the first game had an "Epilogue" that was simply one week after the ending, it would've made it worse, much less something years down the line.

Methinks you missed the point of his/her post.

It would be hilarious if despite all the UC4 drama, the game actually ends up being on track to release this year and they announced TLOU 2 for 2016.

Yup.
I actually developed plenty of respect for ND for that ending, something you really don't see often in a videogame, and yet this move would completely undermine that respect, whether the game turns out good or not.

The problem with a direct sequel with Ellie and Joel is that it hurts the ending of the first game. We've already gleaned great satisfaction from the ending of TLOU so a sequel, regardless of whether they continue the narrative, shouldn't detract from that satisfaction. I'm very keen on strong and original narrative but even I wouldn't get upset retrospectively if we see Joel and Ellie 7 or 8 years later. There is still a sizeable gap there for our own versions of what followed to have existed.

Good writers can make any sequel work. You have to take into account that TLOU is more a personal story about relationships and the human condition. It fits into the very narrow category of "literary" gaming in terms of story. And though TLOU had a spectacular ending, there is always this to consider:

In a world where trust is probably the most valuable thing, Ellie was lied to by the one person she grew to trust the most. There's so much story to follow this premise alone. Not only that, but the bigger concept of the human on human fight between the Fireflies and the Hunters. There's so much scope to be explored on a story level.

The real premise of The Last of Us is grounded in human relationships and the familiar existential quandary we all face. Good writers can capitalize on this and explore all of the facets of these deep characters. It leads to interesting questions of the concept of "Us," and should be explored more and more for the sake of the gaming industry.

Tl;Dr---just my opinion

I expect that originally Uncharted 4 was meant to be out this year and Last of Us 2 late 2015/early 2016 so naughty dog pushed out a game every year and a half

But with all the U4 stuff that's all up in the air and I expect they both been pushed back to 2015 and 2016 respectively

I don't mind Ellie being in a sequel, and based on tea art she would probably be 5-6 years older at least. Which I think is the only way to do it without potentially messing up the original ending.

If Ellie is the main character there is no way they can get away with not mentioning the ending of the first game.

That ending had a huge effect on her as a person and character, you can't just ignore it.

Some people have drastically different impressions over the ending, so they are going to piss some part of the fanbase when they reveal her feelings over what went down.

I wonder if this is all a ruse to distract us from Uncharted 4? Maybe they completed a demo or are working on one for Uncharted for E3, things are coming along nicely, so now they are trying to get our minds on something else so they can try to surprise us with Uncharted 4...

I get the point you here trying to make, but it would actually be like matrix ending on the first (no huge loss) godfather ending on the first (big loss) and star wars starting and ending on a new hope (massive loss) and lets throw in aliens and terminator in there too while we're at it.

I don't understand this fear or sequels when there are a boat load of examples of franchises being bettered because of them. As long as ND are behind the wheel, i'm not worried about a sequel at all.

Way too early to even bring a possibility of TLoU 2 to the table.

I'm all for it if it's planned for PS4 though.

Yes I know, but with a large enough timeskip things regarding the ending can be vaguely implied, rather than explained. So it can still remain somewhat open to interpretation. That's the way I feel anyway.
