The Last Of Us 2 teased?

I hope she's 18 so i can finally start fantasizing about her.

I don't want a direct sequel... I don't think I would even like a game called The Last of Us 2 to exist, regardless of how much of a hit it would be guaranteed to be.

It was just such a finely contained story, start to finish, one tale. It's one of the few games I've ever loved for which I actively didn't want to see the story continued.

I could be talked into a game in the same universe with a very different angle I guess.

Yes. YES! Do it Druckmann.
The problem with a direct sequel is that it hurts the ending of the first game. No matter what they do or how good it is, it'll ultimately fall short of simply letting people fill in the blanks on their own. Providing any more concrete information detracts from that. Even if the first game had an "Epilogue" that was simply one week after the ending, it would've made it worse, much less something years down the line.
Yup.
I actually developed plenty of respect for ND for that ending, something you really don't see often in a videogame, and yet this move would completely undermine that respect, whether the game turns out good or not.
I agree with both you, yet I still want a game focused on an older Ellie. :(

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Another game in the TLOU world I am all for, but not with Joel & Ellie. New characters and a new country would ve awesome because you could see this unfold from another culture with different relationships formed and broken.

I have no problems with another Last of Us game, but they should make it focus on different characters. Joel and Ellies story is done. I don't want to dig into it again.

Someone for the love of God post the gif with the man jumping in the car through its open window because I am IN! I said they should leave TLOU alone since it was so good, but grown up Ellie concept art has broken my resolve. I devour crow WHOLE.

I would prefer new characters because Joel and Ellie's story ended perfectly, but at the same time those are my 2 favorite characters in video game history and i would love to see them again.

Hype at maximum if/when this gets announced.

It would be pretty sweet if they treated each as a different apocalyptic event. Each could take place during different times and different cataclysmic situations would come up. First one dealt with infection via spores, next could be a virus, another could be aliens, next could be whatever. A bit like final fantasy in how each numbered entry is a separate world and whatnot.

And on the sixth day the LORD David Bowie created man and woman in His image. And he saw that it was good. On the seventh day the LORD created videogames so that He might take the bloody day off for once.
It's always tricky when artists try to depict aged versions of recognizable characters. It often runs the risk of looking "off", or just plain lame.

But not in this case. That's a damn solid (and badass) interpretation of an older Ellie.

Even if it ends up not being officially related to TLOU2, I still wanna see the rest of that amazing art.

I hope it's set at least ten years in the future, so there can be substantial environment changes and new areas to explore. Plus, with the evolution of the cordyceps fungi, even new enemies. 5-6 years doesn't seem like enough time.

Please God, no.

I'm not sure you fully understand the IP.

If they really wanted to, they could continue Ellie's story without spoiling the ending of the first game. Have the story focus on her doing something that doesn't involve Joel and leave his fate and the status of their relationship vague. I don't think that would go over too well with the general audience but it is something they could do.

I was hoping for a prequel of sorts showing what happened before the 20-year time skip. A game could fit in there. There's a few things they could show.
>What happened with Ellie's parents? Why did they leave her? Or better yet, why did they have to leave her? Could they have met Joel at some point?
>How did Joel and Tommy survive? How did their relationship sour?
>How did Joel meet Tess? How did he become a selfish bastard?

The Last of Us: [prequel name here] and then the proper sequel, TLoU 2, a few years after. A 3rd game seems like too much right now, but I can see them milking the TLoU name, not that I want them to but if it's good why not? Btw, I also think The Last of Us ended perfectly. But it's done. I don't see how a new game can/should ruin what I've already experienced. I'm up for a sequel or two though I'd still prefer they make that space game.

So will this be
  • The Last of Us 2: Kill Strain ? or
  • The Last of Us 2: Entwined ? or
  • The Last of Us 2: Bloodborne ? or
  • The Last of Us 2: Beast Souls ?

Now all I can think of is The Last of Us 2: Ellie vs. The Demon's Souls, some sort of Demon's Souls 2 with Ellie as the main character, and God I want that game.

Also, I both want a Last of Us 2 with a grown-up Ellie, and do not want any kind of sequel to that game because I hate this idea that we always have to have sequels. I'm so conflicted.

Was thinking the same thing. Leaving a decent enough interval between the first ending and picking up the story say 10 years later would cater to both camps.

Worst idea EVER! :p

I don't really see how that's possible, seeing how it ended. There would be MASSIVE gaps in the narrative simply for the sake of being vague and open ended. If anything, I would prefer that they answer questions that the ending to the first game presented and then leave a general open ended scenario for the second, as a final conclusion to the IP as a whole.

I hope they only make a sequel if they have a relevant story to tell and not just something they quickly thought of just for the sake of a sequel.

What do you mean? Their story was pretty open and shut by the end of the game, and it wasn't all that great of a story to begin with. It just had a great presentation. No need to keep piling on top of it. Not for me anyway. It's not as open as something like Uncharted. I don't believe so anyway.

It's not really done at all necessarily. There is a HUGE bombshell that Ellie doesn't know about. Anything could happen when she figures it out.

Ellie's mother is dead and we know nothing of her father.

Joel did some pretty bad shit to survive during the early years, Tommy mentioned it when they met at the power plant when he said "I've got nothing but nightmares from those years." That's why they had a falling out.

There's plenty of stuff that we don't need to see that's implied or mentioned second hand when it comes to Joel, that's what makes him such an interesting character.

This is pretty much my sentiments. Joel and Ellie's story is done. But I would love to see some one else's story in the same world.

Never before has "be careful what you wish for" been more appropriate. Can't believe how fans were demanding a sequel for a self-contained, one off story.

This would be ideal for me. I'd like the story to move forward. The original game's ending doesn't need to be directly addressed, but they could leave a few subtle clues for us to infer what transpired since that fateful day..

TLOU 2 is so obvious.

I'm surprised people are in denial about this. These statements about TLOU ending perfectly and being standalone are so asinine it hurts. What do you know about the world and characters ND is building in this universe? Just hating on sequels because its a sequel is so weird. Many great works of fiction are serialized to great success.

And yes it will be with Joel or Ellie or both.

Part of me would rather TLoU be a one off masterpiece and leave it at that, but the other part of me really wants to see joel and ellie embark on a new journey.
