From the Giant Bomb PS4 QL.

Only Jeff + Vinny could make such a boring looking sports game fun to watch :p

So Um... I am having an issue with my game. Out of the blue the below happened.. I have restarted the game.. it still happens. I had played about 15 RTTS games and the save originated on a PS3 which I pulled down from the cloud. Anyone else have this issue or know how the crap I fix it?

I forgot about the screen capture feature so reached for my phone.. but you get the point.. even the crowds are gone...

Odd, are you sure your PS3 isnt dying? Normally if you see video glitches that are really weird, chances are your console's gpu is dying or so.

I don't see what the point of letting you install the game when there's nothing you can do initially.

Yea this whole system was a dumb idea.

3 Hours after I launched the game my install is at 78%. My initial download was only 6 GB so I guess this "install" is me just downloading the rest of the game from the (terrible) MLB servers that are getting hammered?

Ok so if I close the game while its installing is it still installing? I wish you could see progress outside. I think hearing my PS4 is a sign that its installing...

Quick counts is actually pretty neat. Keeps the pace of the games nice and fast. Still last about 30 minutes a game though. =P

Loving the game so far.

Its my PS4...I just was pointing out I pulled the save from the cloud which I originally had on the PS3... and it better not be dying already!!

When I'm the the menus, the install process is stuck at the same percentage, only when I exit the application and go to the PS4 menu does it advance.

these are the best 6gb menus I've ever played

forget that meter -- go to home screen, press options -> information on the mlb 14 tile and you will see the real install progress

Game was installing so I played a quick exhibition match and beat the yankees. It's done installing now so time to mess with other stuff. Game is fun!

Hmm what if all the data hasnt stalled yet? Like textures might be missing if data installation process is still running? Dont know but thats weird and no, your PS4 is fine. But a PS3 normally has these symptoms when its dying lol.

The thing is this happened mid game.. like my 15th game. Gonna just let my PS4 sit for the night and hope it works tomorrow.

I just won my first Diamond Dynasty game 7-3 over the Expos (complete with Gary Carter and Dennis Martinez) and the game froze for at least 2 minutes before finally segueing into the end menu. I thought for sure I was screwed.

Is it just me or does every menu take at least 30 seconds to load? I'm on disc, by the way. It is really bad and will definitely inhibit my desire to make roster moves and generally mess around if I have to do everything at molasses speed. This is what ruined the NHL online franchise for me (powered by slow-ass Verizon!)

I'm very surprised at the posts in here today. My initial install time was 20 mins tops and I'm using the HDD that came with my PS4.

As for the game itself, the gameplay is very smooth and quick-counts is a godsend, but it's true the framerate dips badly during cutscenes.

mine didn't take very long either but i think its more of setting the expectation (as it has been in all other games) that when the "install" is done on the main OS menu you can start the game. but HERE, you get done with that, then start the game and there is a 300 mb update, THEN you get into the main menu and its like oh guess what there's another 30 gb or whatever to install so you have to wait!

Holy shit, this opening video.

Its dope indeed bro - i was like "Now that IS bad ass!"

Man i am totally loving this game on the PS4...compared to the PS3 version...oh my goodness...im telling you guys if you played both the PS3 and PS4 version of MLB 14 it is a VERY NICE upgrade, mind you, for a first year effort. I truly expect a much bigger improvement in the next year or two of MLB The Show once these developers truly harness and get to grips with all this extra power they have vs PS3.

I think one of the biggest problems why some people do not see that HUGE LEAP in visuals is for this very thing. The PS3 version is squeezing every bit of juice out of that machine to push MLB The Show on PS3...while the PS4 Edition of The Show is using the raw straight forward horsepower of the PS4 like almost all of 1st year launch window PS4 games have been doing but once developers get that time needed to get familiar with the hardware, find the most optimize way of coding to the metal of the hardware,etc,etc...there should be a another HUGE leap of visual quality coming.

If anyone remembers MLB The Show the first time it came out on PS3 and i can quite remember if it was its 2nd or 3rd year on PS3 but it was just a MASSIVE LEAP in visual quality. I expect something similar like this to happen with the PS4 version of MLB The Show but probably much quicker seeing how exotic and weird the PS3 architecture really was and how hard it was to grasp...this time its a bit different but we are no where seeing what MLB The Show on PS4 will/should look like yet but for this first year effort....OMG Im so freaking impressed and what a blast it is to play with that game speed improvement...making games go much quicker, etc

Another thing i heard one of the dev's say last night during a streaming session is that they are using like around half of what the PS4 can actually do right now...but he said it in a way in that he was referring to this years edition is just using its overall raw power to push this years game..next year it will be using more of PS4 visual effects and newer cutting edge graphic techniques....which really had me excited because this is coming from a group of competent developers that walk that talk..they mean what they way.

But i must say i have to give 2ksports props for doinng what it did its first year effort with their basketball game that is multiplatform...Gosh the talent those guys have over there rivals that of the guys making this MLB game. Imagine what kind of football game we could have from 2ksports.

I was in a forum where NBA2k dev's were answering questions and a fellow forumer made a comment to one of the 2ksport dev's about making a College football game now that EA backed off...i forget the exact wording but he said that they are "looking into" that idea but right now the dust is still settling so it will be a year or so before they know what to do as far as maybe doing a college football game. Hell..i would be almost as stoked for a 2k College Football game as i would be for a 2k NFL Football game...really, i would drool for even a full fledge college football game by 2kSports

But back to MLB The Show....yeah this baby plays so great and looks and sounds so freaking awesome. Off to play some more!!

PS The MLB Show dev said that the PS4 network code was re-worked from ground up for PS4 version vs PS3 version and there is a new notice flashing when you play PS4 MLB stating that there is a maintenance period coming in the coming days to fine tune everything for smooth online play!!

I'll play you if it'll work for me. My PSN is in my profile

ok send me challenge or i can send it. i tested a game online earlier direct connected and now i'm going to try wireless. if it's too laggy i can do the wired connection.

the earlier game that was direct connect wasn't too bad. couple instances of jank but overall ok

Wow, so I guess we got 30k MLB points for preordering from Gamestop, I'm really not into the whole buy currency thing but I noticed it costs 20 bucks for that many. Not a bad preorder bonus honestly.

That's happening to me too. It eventually loads after a long time though I was thinking it was my connection. I sent you a challenge I think.

Edit: seems to be working a lot better now.

Same here, installed fully in under 20 minutes.

I haven't played The Show in a few years. Anyone have suggestions on which batting/pitching set ups to use? It started me with TIMING, but that seemed to easy so I've been using pure analog a bit.

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Playing The Show at 60 FPS is truly the best thing ever for this game. I can't believe how much smoother it plays. I've been playing the show every year since it came to ps3 and man after just 5 innings of 60 fps baseball I know I could never go back.

Gonna be hard playing on vita again now.
