Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

Question about Megas though: If groudon and kyorge really had megas wouldnt we have seen it in the game data for x and y? I mean thats how it has always worked. Furthermore, if they did have megas they wouldnt be the only hoeonn pokes to get em. Thats way too much data to hide without being found. I seriously doubt that they are megas.
Latios and Latias have mega evolution data in XY so that's something.

Lol @ betrayal. Sure, dude.
I have no idea why I took you out of my ignore list, but back to it you go.

Ah, the ol' "If I can not see the monsters then the monsters can not hurt me" routine. Brilliant.

The games were not considered the low point in the series for no reason. Hell, its even satire now. That says that its at least a common viewpoint.

Well, we haven't found alternate forms for Groudon and Kyogre in the data either to my knowledge. Some people think new megas will be patched in, some people think the two are new forms. Either way, something's gonna have to be added in.

There's also the weird mega disparity of Torchic vs the other two starters, but I guess that's solved by Mega Blaziken being event-only.

I consider Diamond and Pearl the low point of the series, although that might just be because Platinum was such an improvement.

Of course, I don't speak for everyone, but neither do you.

Sounds good to me, I think either Z or 7th gen we'll see full 3D. (if we get 7th gen on 3DS)

They can? They are able to patch in new pokemon? I mean essentially the mega evolutions are that.

I would be surprised if they can

You realize you can patch anything into a game right? They could replace every pokemon with a taco if they wanted to.

Never really happened to me that a 3DS game wanted to update or to dl a patch. So I know that patches could do that, but I wasn't aware that the 3DS has an active patch system like PSN or XBL, don't use my 3DS that often.

Next question is would they do it.

This is to be expected though. Gen 3 basically was a betryal for the original fans. New very different Pokemon designs (When I saw the original designs for Kyogre and Groudon I thought they were fake), bad selection of old Pokemon with most of the decent ones trapped in the Safari Zone. Having no access to old Pokes unless you buy a GameCube and a bunch of add-on shit. A shame a generation of kids was started on this version, the experience of an introduction to the series and then a direct sequal does so much more.
But the LTTP people are much worse from what I've seen. Look who gets bugged out of their fucking minds in overall gen popularity polls show that the first two gens still dominate.
This is why my son is starting from the origin of every game series in the home.

I applaud the fact that you're starting your kid off on the old games, but betrayal? Oh whoops, I mean betryal, obviously. :p

Just want to point out that there have been form changes introduced mid generation before. They just didn't change appearance in the versions without them. See- Giratina, Kyurem, and Rotom. I think for Rotom the forms just couldn't be used in multiplayer though due to type changes

The 3DS doesn't have an active patch system, you have to grab the patch off of the eShop, but you aren't allowed to use the online functions of a game if you don't have the newest patch

How could I make such an obvious oversight!

No but seriously - I wouldn't be surprised if Blaziken gets a second Mega Evolution this time.
I'd agree, but would that require them to change the original's name? Also, I can't help but imagine a second mega blaziken form would suck compared to what we have because it probably wouldn't have speed boost

Ahahahahahahahahah jesus christ you can't be serious, this is screencap worthy.

They have pushed out patches before. Pokemon x and y are already on version 1.2.

I shot people I like more for less.
Can't believe that nobody in this entire thread has mentioned that there should be a mega evolution for Camerupt. Shame on all of you.

Maxie could even have one.

The Rotom forms didn't change type in Gen 4. That was added in Gen 5, and by Gen 5 you could use them in multiplayer.

However, I feel we shouldn't hold Gamefreak to the same standards we did in Gen 4.
Why can't the US get cool shit like colored boxes?
I miss colored cartridges. Just doesn't feel the same now.

Mega Sharpedo and Mega Camerupt? I like the sound of that.

You could even give the two Drought and Drizzle, since it's thematically appropriate.

They have different markings than the originals. Check out Groudon's tiger stripes and the lines on Kyogre's face.
I didn't notice the difference in Kyogre's stripes. Fair enough then. If they are indeed new forms/megalutions...they're very underwhelming.

Then again, a good majority of the Mega Evolutions last time took a 'finished' design and just added some more spikes or hair to it, so maybe less drastic changes are for the better.

Wrong, they appeared in gen IV, but I think they were locked behind an event. That said, I made one mistake which is that they didn't shift type between forms until gen v

I think what's really gonna make them is if the translucent parts are always like that or if it's just something that happens when the Pokemon attack. Mega Groudon with lava constantly pumping through its veins would look awesome, and I love the transparent parts of Kyogre's fins.

It was? I loved Ruby the most as a kid, and I played through all of them. Best legends, cool removed mechanics (berry mixing, hidden bases). Calling it a 'betrayal' is very silly.

Only thing that bugs me is that Ruby should have been Alpha and Sapphire should have been Omega so the naming doesnt sound weird and out of "order" if that makes sense.

Awesome announcement.. I feel teh hypes.... but...

You would think with Nintendo's recent struggles financially that they would figure out Pokemon = Hype.

Wiiu= No real hype.

Pokemon + WiiU = Super Mega Hype.

We have had plenty of portable pokemon experiences. For once I would like to just see what they could do on a home console.

Just once.

:(

Kind of funny that in the same year Stardust Crusaders gets a full anime adaption, a Pokemon game is released with the initials ORAS

At least you could play pretend with a Black cartridge.
