Was that the first time MH4U has been officially announced?
Nope, did you miss the thread? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=758354

Their output is actually pretty strong and frequent. The problem is that it´s still not enough if you have to support it alone. But the myth has to stop that their output is slow or mediocre.

Their output is strong - nothing in my post suggested that I thought it wasn't. I honestly think the quality of games under the Iwata era is irrefutable.

The games aren't nearly frequent enough, especially on their consoles. I don't know how you can claim otherwise... unless you think the droughts from the last two years of the Wii and the first two years of the Wii U are acceptable. This year alone we're going from DKC:TF to MK8 with nothing inbetween.

Nintendo just needs to stick it out for a four year cycle to satisfy their existing Wii U user base and to make sure that they are happy enough to migrate to their next hardware. Nintendo needs to find a way to slow the bleeding until they can launch new hardware. The NFC figure is a decent idea to help, but they really need to find a way to improve their margins on the Wii U box. Gotta find a way to cut the tablet controller out and hit a $200 or lower price point.
Removing the tablet would prevent the former for me.

The gaming industry is really creating a monster. Some day there will be a Nintendo console that CAN be completely upheld by only first party releases. What then!?

That should put all those "NINTENDO MUST RELEASE NEW HARDWARE NAO!!111" ridiculousness to rest. You don't kill your main system in a generation just to release a new one, just so you can "keep up" with the competition. That will destroy what faith and goodwill you have with your remaining audience.

So basically, as Nintendo fans and consumers, we should cheer on Nintendo languishing with dated, ill-conceived hardware because that's what they initially went with? They made a bad choice, and rather than fix that choice, they should keep motoring on with it for at least half a decade to make a small buyer base happy?

Do people get angry at Nintendo still for not sticking out the Virtual Boy for at least 5 years?

Maybe I'm not understanding it, but it still sounds like the NFC figures are basically memory cards, but probably with added features.

I think you completely misunderstood what was said.

Did he announce a way to quickly return to Nintendo like profits? That is what he repeatedly promised in the past.

Did he continue making the absurd.claim that one game can turn it all around? No, forecasts are for another year of miserable sales.

And when is QoL, which remember Iwata just brainstormed prior to the last fiscal meeting, supposed to actually drive growth? Fy 17.

I am pretty sure I got what he said. He is all out of ways to turn around the failing home console business. But get, the never ending.move to a new building in kyoto is almost done. Finally, nintendos employees can communicate with each other!

"Fixing it" wouldn't fix anything, though. And that is the problem. You kill the WiiU now, you kill all future consoles.
And the Virtual Boy isn't even close to the same thing. It was not their main system. It was a quickly and incompletely done side project they toyed with.

I feel like that's actually where nintendo is deliberately heading. A bunch of partnerships and nintendolike games exclusive to nintendo systems. Would be bananas if pulled off right.

Easy. Compare all their output (pls not just Mario & Zelda) with other first party efforts. They shit out a lot of software. Problem is that it´s not enough if you have to do it alone.

Yes. I wouldn't buy the next Nintendo console if they showed no confidence in the Wii U. They don't want to go down that path that Sega had where the quickly put out and then abandoned consoles.(CD/32x/Saturn)
