So they expect Japan to sell like 2.5m+

Hmm I'm not sure.

Interesting that Sega is putting both the Wii U and 3DS skus together for Sonic: Lost World considering how different each version is.

Hmm I'm not sure.

I think 2.5 million is posible. I think that prediction is on the higher end though, it'd be nearer 2 million than 2.5 there.

Are they going to mix their financials with Atlus or do they have different reports?

Quite curious about future SEGA Vita SKUs. 1 SKU = 1 package, right? That means that a game that is released in 3 region would be 3 different SKUs.

Can't wait to see how Persona 5 does for SEGA.

Going by the series history, if we assume "2015" is Q1 2015, then ~500-900K between Japan and the West would be a reasonable guess depending on how much the PS3 has eroded by then.

Yeah Sega's SKU calculation method is a bit batshit.

All Sega subsidiaries are part of Sega Sammy's report, since they're wholly owned.

Financials are for the benefit of investors. When Index was a listed company with public shareholders, they released financials for them. Since Atlus is now a 100% owned subsidiary of Sega Sammy, there would be no reason to release such financials to the public.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
I wonder what Sega has planned for PS3 and 3DS with that forecast. I can't think of any 3DS game especially that would bring in those kind of numbers.

What was Lost World numbers for the previous earning release? 700k I believe? Anyway, it's still pretty good, though it's pretty clear it's never gonna reach 1M.

For 3DS, there's already Persona Q, which could potentially reach 500k LTD in Japan alone. There's also that Sonic Boom game. No idea about the rest, though. Pretty sure they got some more games incoming, as Iwata did mention more 3rd-party games yet to be announced.

P4G is at 280k - 300k
SMT4 did around the same iirc

This is essentially an EO game with a Persona skin.

For 3DS I believe we so far know:

Persona Q (3 SKUs, assuming it's releasing in Europe)
Sonic Boom (2 SKUs, I'm assuming it's not coming to Japan)

So we have 8 to work with unless I'm forgetting something.

1 has got to be SMT4 EU

Hey, don't you dare mock my unrealistic predictions!

@Nirolak : hmm... maybe you could add 1 SKU for SMTIV in Europe? You know, that game announced one year ago that, apparently, was still at the licencing discussions part a few weeks ago, according to that Atlus USA employee :p

Your not serious are you lol

I'm guessing it will do 200-250k in JP.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Yeah, I'm wondering what they're expecting to be that big on 3DS. Unless they think Sonic Boom will be much bigger than other recent Sonic titles. ...but just on 3DS and not Wii U? I think there's something else quite important not unveiled yet.

I suspect that Sega hasn't changed their core strategy so I think Atlus likely makes up a lot of the 3DS SKU count.

If we add in SMT 4 for Europe that leaves us with 7, and then if they do another Etrian Odyssey remake thingy that could get us down to 4.

Puyo Pop could get down to 3 and then they'd just need one more global game. The Devil Survivor people haven't shipped something in a while unless I'm forgetting, or it could be that Devilizer thingy.

Persona 5 could reach 500k sales LTD, but I don't think a spin-off will sell that much. Between 200 and 250k is my bet.

Well, Persona popularity has expanded in the last few years and P4G is at 350k in Japan (Digital + Retail) by Atlus words and it's going to get some new sales (probably) with the new anime too. Which is quite good when you consider it's a port released on a platform that was struggling at that time.

Right now Persona and mainline SMT are almost like totally different franchise sales wise IMO. I think Persona 5 will have quite good sales and I think they're going to continue the multimedia push they started a few years ago with P3 and P4.

Possible Sega PS3 lineup:

Through to Q2 - Sonic Racing Transformed (JP), P4U 2 (JP,US,EU?), not sure if they count digital releases as a SKU. If they do then there's Fantasy Zone Complete Collection which was released as a PS2 Classic.

Rest of the FY - P5 (JP,US,EU?), Alien Isolation (US,EU), + something else? Not sure if they will even release Alien in Japan.

Etrian Odyssey was published by Nis in Europe, so I suppose that doesn't count.

EDIT: Ah, another you said. Sorry, I didn't read correctly XD (btw, again, I think it'd be 2 SKUs, not 3, unless Sega starts publishing them in Europe too).

I don't think they count digital games as otherwise they would presumably have an iOS column and the 3DS should have a pretty big number between Virtual Console and the 3D Classics.

I don't think SMTIV EU will count for Sega unless they take over for whoever was planning to release it in the first place. And with the sale numbers it'd be hard to believe they'd find another EO remake would somehow pull in great numbers.

I think they might be counting games they make that are published by other companies since they're still their games.

Not 100% sure though.

Why would they do that on a report like this? I can't think of any company that does that.

No I don't think so. Pretty sure it's only what they are publishing as a company, including subsidiaries.

There's a way to see if they count SKUs they don't publish: how many 3DS games did they release in FY2014? They say 6 SKUs, and Sonic Lost World was published by Nintendo here in Europe...

Atlus making Persona in a multimedia franchise with Aniplex (?) was one of the best things they did for the franchise.

I honestly don't know why Persona suddenly got popular with 3 and 4. It may be the combination of it being such a unique game, one of very high quality and the lack of high quality jrpgs. It also appeals to the anime crowd but doesn't alienate you if you are not into that unlike Tales.

The next version of Sonic racing?

I guess if it's not on PS4/XB1 it's possible.

The Xbox 360 only has three slots and two of those are taken up by Alien: Isolation though, so it would be weird if they were only releasing Sonic Racing in one region on it.

If they extended their exclusivity deal then yes it could fit in there, but that'd be kind of odd given how much they ended up pushing it on PC.

Well, there's an easy to way find out: Is SEGA usually counting the Mario & Sonic games as a SKU in Japan? It's developed by SEGA, but published by Nintendo in Japan. I don't think they count the Japanese SKUs of those games, so I doubt they are counting titles published by other companies in Atlus's case either.

They released 4 titles in Japan alone - Sonic Lost World, Project Mirai 2, Puyopuyo Tetris, and Hero Bank.

Then, we have Sonic Lost World in US, so 5. Since Lost World is a Nintendo title in Europe, what's the 6th title?

This is why I think they have to be counting the titles Nintendo is publishing.

This report should include Sonic Boom (NA/EU). They're the publisher.

Oh Sega is publishing this one?

Okay maybe I'm just confused then. I thought Sonic was published by Nintendo in both the US and Europe.

As I've already said in the past, I suxorz at predictions (especially with unknown "parameters" like Persona Q : spin-off, first Persona game on a non-Sony platform...).

So yeah, I recognise my predictions are really unrealistic, but I'm still expecting surprisingly good sales for the game (ie: better than people might expect.... not necessarily 500k LTD, I'll grant you that ;)).

Did Nintendo publish Sonic & Mario Olympics globally?

edit: Oh man, apparently that was a Wi U exclusive? Sega got robbed.

I'm wondering if they do count titles they're publishing, despite not being internally developed by them. For 3DS, they say they have 2 SKUs till September (then, 11 SKUs releasing between October and March, wtf). IIRC, the only upcoming Sega title right now is Persona Q. That would mean that there's only one other title fitting the bill: the US SKU of Conception II, since it's published by Atlus (not Europe, since it's digital only here).

I think so. I don't see Nintendo attached, this is a Sega USA gig with the cross-media stuff.

Pretty sure Sonic Boom is part of the 3 Sonic game deal with Nintendo (Lost World, Olympics and Boom), though SEGA still remains the official publishers.

That makes sense, Nintendo doesn't publish all the games they make agreements with other companies for.

Project Mirai 2 had an LE which had a different product code. Would that count as another SKU for Sega? (lol)

TBH that's why I don't try to figure out every SKU lol. Having a general idea is nice, but honestly I'm just trying to figure out what 3DS game(s) would bring in those numbers.

Actually that might make sense. Localizing a bunch of 3DS games through Atlus would raise the 3DS SKU count very quickly.

It is. They mention it explicitly in the press release.

Presumably Sonic Racing 3 and whatever Sonic Team's next game are would be the return to multiplat, though they will assuredly have Wii U versions.
