Nintendo E3 2014 - discussion thread for their E3 plans

I only started watching Nintendo's press conferences in 2003 and comparing the two there seems to be a big difference in terms of the stage and venue it was held at.

I was always wondering though, were there live streams of the conference in 2002 or the previous years? From any of the big three even for that matter? I always assumed it became popular in 03 due to sites like Gamespot at the time providing streams and the uptake in viewership rising year on year.
I dont think so or else we would have video of live streams..?

That guy is so far from being the Regginator, it's not even funny.
Yup that was kind of embarrasing watch that getting so used to reggie.. and the windwaker disintntrest really reeks when they say they have another Zelda to show and the crowd goes crazy then its 4 swords and they get humbled.. For shame!

I feel like the main NFC title is gonna be a 3d platformer mash-up, or "Nintendo Party".

Damn, I'm actually excited by the prospect of NFC, insane.

Iwata's basically saying they've already shown how the GamePad can enhance casual, multiplayer games, but he wants to prove the GamePad can also enhance core, single player games as well. Yet somehow everyone thinks Iwata is saying they're going to show even more casual bullshit.

This gets me excited for E3.

... I'd rather nintendo focus on making top tier games without using the gamepad for anything beyond maybe off tv play, because I seriously feel it doesn't lend itself well to motion gaming due to the large size. Anything else, such as dual screen uses or touch screen gaming is pretty much already done better on DS/3DS or tablets, so ...

Imagine Star Fox or a space-sim with X-Wing-like energy management on the gamepad.

edit:

Imagine space battleship online battles where one person's on the gamepad as the captain/systems manager and another on the TV as a gunner. Or vice versa. maybe split screen the TV up and have more mates do local co-op as fighter pilots. And if you're by yourself, hop into a cruiser where you have to simultaneously manage on the gamepad and pilot on the screen for advantages.

Imagine Steel Diver Wii U with gamepad as a sonar pinger. Or split jobs again and have someone in torpedo bay and someone on the helm.

Dang I should just quit TV and make these games.

Something like Artemis Bridge Simulator could be interesting for Wii U, if it supported multiple gamepads. Online play would work too I guess.

That would be a perfect candidate, as you can have that close quarters co-op without needing a LAN.

I'm pretty sad that devs aren't going crazy over the possibilities of the gamepad, which was why I picked up Wii U at launch. But alas, here we are in negativity land.

Doubt it. It'll be the same schtick.

"Yeah Bayonetta 2, Fatal Frame, X, Zelda, SMTXFE, etc etc etc look good but imagine what they could be if not tethered by the Wii U!"

Or

"Imagine the revenue we could generate if Nintendo actually catered to the press!"

FZERO by SEGA. STARFOX by PLATINUM. 3D METROID by RETRO, New CORE IP by RETRO. New Paper Mario like TTYD by IntelligentSystems...new 3D Mario by EAD NEW CORE IP by EAD.....

Believe.

Other than Sonic and Allstars Racing, what decent racing games has Sega produced recently?

Honestly, I think an upgraded GX by Monster with a couple new courses and online would be a more sound investment right now.

Somehow there aren't many rumors floating around this time. Last year everyone was going crazy 4 weeks before the E3 started...but maybe I'm just getting old and I can't feel the hype anymore. :( Anyone else feeling that way?

But I hope I loose my sanity at the moment we get pics of the first boxes arriving in LA.

I think there's a reason Nintendo have been relatively quiet this year, and given what Iwata said about NFC and core gamepad titles I am incredibly excited for this year's E3. I'm ready fro you to wow me Nintendo!

Replace Paper Mario for the new Zelda WiiU with an artstyle like the tech demo and if they announce all this stuff for WiiU in this E3 I'll buy one.

He did say there will be multiple games, from ones almost complete to early in devs.
Hopefully, one of them is Fatal Frame 5, it would use the Gamepad so well!

Not the artstyle.

FZERO by SEGA. STARFOX by PLATINUM. 3D METROID by RETRO, New CORE IP by RETRO. New Paper Mario like TTYD by IntelligentSystems...new 3D Mario by EAD NEW CORE IP by EAD, Zelda U with similar art style like the tech demo and with a big world full of secrets and life.....

Happy now? ;)

Iwata was talking about internally developed games though. (Which is better to me since that means we'll be getting FF + those games instead of FF being included with them)

Has anyone thought about how Nintendo will move forward with the battle system for Zelda? We will be going from full motion control back to sticks and buttons. I was thinking maybe it will be almost like a 3D fighter game now when battling enemies.

Yaaay, finally back home from a trip. Now to fully absorb myself in E3 frivolities

!!!

I wouldn't mind learning about anything regarding Animal Crossing U. Hopefully it's not the main reveal of the show like in 2008 (I really doubt that will happen), but I think the NFC stuff would work amazingly with an AC game.
