Nintendo E3 2014 - discussion thread for their E3 plans

E3 is too far away and I've been too busy lately to be all that hyped, but I still have my fair share of hopes from Nintendo.

I hope they finishes things they started. Art Academy on Wii U is still missing bits, the virtual console has been weak, and there are features in the Wii U that haven't been used to their full effect if at all. That we're this far into the Wii U's life and I still can't play Mario 64 on the gamepad is a shame. NFC stuff is coming but there are other Wii bits that I feel went underused. Were Wii Sports and Zelda all they could think of to use the Motion Plus gyroscope with?

I hope they bring back their neglected franchises. 1080 and Waverace and be combined into one package (and use the balance board for some bits), a cell shaded Sheriff game could be a nice contrast to Red Dead, and Mr Game & Watch could star in a dark, hyper gritty and realistic game.

I hope they make a new series on their home console. They made some neat new characters for the 3DS but Wii U is starved for anything. They have some really creative people working for them and making a new franchise would probably mean getting into a genre they've never dabbled in.

I hope we get a new Punch Out!! game. It could be great in 3D and it could be great in HD, I just want it. It might be neat to revisit Metroid Prime Hunters as a Free-to-Play Wii U shooter.

The Digital Deluxe promotion is ending this year and I hope they either extend it or replace it with something else.

I hope they don't delay DS virtual console until 2016. I don't know if I'd prefer HD remasters of Wii and Gamecube games or just add them to the virtual console, but I'd be satisfied with either one. I would like to revisit Eternal Darkness sometime.

I hope they surprise us and the majority of us aren't disappointed.

Yes. And it's fake.
I'm sure Nintendo will have Platinum make another game, but I doubt it's StarFox.

Oh of course it's fake. Not one of those have ever ever been real, but I still love to read them :)

Isn't the other rumor that platinum is working w/ sony microsoft on a game next?

If they had needed the time they probably could have got it. Most likely they felt it just wasn't worth it.
And that happens. Studios nearly complete entire segments of a game and just decide to cut it because it's really not needed.

I'm not entirely sure how likely that is. Sure, we were never given an official reason for its exclusion, but we do know that the game wasn't going to be ready by its deadline, and Takahashi had compromises in place to make it. The logical conclusion here is that the cutting of the Bionis' Shoulder was one of said compromises. A real waste and shame; you have one of the biggest and best maps that only needed to be populated that's just sitting there in the disc. I really don't want to see that happen again.

Likely fake since CBOAT's sources turned on him.

But the interview also said they were allowed all the time and resources they needed to finish.
That's why I think they just didn't need it at all.

Nintendo rarely starts a partnership with a studio and then doesn't continue using them.
I even would bet on another Team Ninja game with Nintendo, at some point.
another platinum nintendo collab would be awesome and I really hope it's StarFox..... team ninja I hope it's working on Xtreme beach volleyball Nintendo princess edition Believe

Forgive me if this has been posted and discredited, but I didn't see it anywhere and need a confirmation that this is bullshit.

Here's my bingo card, tried to keep it balanced, but I actually had a bit of a tough time with the 3DS side, also the bottom right should be 'limited 3rd party'

I hate how people making these put no effort in those at all. I could shit a more believable Nintendo leak list than that.

Me want an MMORPG like this with Kingdom Hearts-esque Nintendo worlds.

I think even a normal cross-IP Nintendo RPG would be fun. They could let Intelligent Systems make it. Put in some NFP and I think we have an idea here.

Thanks brah, doing my best

BTW, I wonder why nobody talks about the new firmware update that'll speed up the Wii U if I understood Iwata correctly; will it come after E3 or with MK8?

It will speed up launching a game on the system a bit because you can bypass the OS and go straight to the software. There's a video of it on this page. They just said it will come with an OS update "either before or during summer." So around Mario Kart 8 launch sounds possible.

I don't exactly see it that way. They were given an extension and got most of what they wanted out the door. Suppose there was some Xenoblade re-release in the future, I don't think it'd be unlikely to see the Bionis' Shoulder included that time around, seeing how very close to completion it was. Anyways, my point in all of this is that Monolith should be given all the time they need; their games can only come out better because of it.

What are your opinions for what they open with?

E3 2009 opened with NSMB Wii (Unannounced, unrevealed)
E3 2010 opened with skyward sword (Announced but unrevealed)
E3 2011 opened w/ zelda 25th anniversary (not a game)
E3 2012 opened with pikmin 2 (Announced but unrevealed)
E3 2013 opened with pokemon X/Y (Announced AND revealed)

Personally, I like opening with announced but unrevealed games. We know it's coming, but haven't seen it yet, so it's exciting to show it off.

What about what they close with?

E3 2009 closed with other m (unannounced, unrevealed)
E3 2010 closed with Kid Icarus uprising/3DS reveal (KI unannounced unrevealed, 3ds announced, unrevealed)
E3 2011 closed with Wii U revealed (announced but unrevealed)
E3 2012 closed with nintendo land (unannounced and unrevealed)
E3 2013 closed with smash 4 (Announced but unrevealed)

Personally, I like closing with absolute surprises. "One more thing before we leave." Something we're hoping for, but nintendo has said nothing.

That SAID, even though I prefer they open w/ something announced but unrevealed, I really want them to close with Zelda this year. I want to see if they can try to recapture the majesty of 2004. I think opening with some smash 4 revealed would be nice, as well. The game is announced, but those CHARACTERS are unrevealed :)

I feel like if they do open with Zelda it will just be a some amazing trailer that turns out to be a horrible tease by Sakurai to announce Ganondorf for Smash.

I hope Nintendo announce a new Account system similar to PSN, also i would like to see an update that can make Wii virtual console games playable on the gamepad! (want to replay mario rpg!)

Would have been a believable list if it didn't include Symphony of the Nights 2 and Beyond Good & Evil.

That's believable. Well maybe it's a little early to show gameplay but we can be pretty sure that the folks who made Rayman Legends are making that now.

You can already do that.

Lol, why on earth would all 3 be on the same page? That would mean that each of the 1st parties would know what the other one is showing, which isn't true. They watch each other's conferences and find out from them, just like we do. They don't hang out back stage and discuss what one is doing to the other. They also don't have to share that information to E3 people, especially since these keynotes are done off-site. So dumb.

Aren't they making that game that uses the Legends engine? I remember seeing it at E3 last year, but I haven't seen it since.

Who would the document be for? The 3 big ones have no obligation to tell the E3 organizers about what they're showing in their pre-E3 conferences.

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Good to see that I wasn't the only one that, when "Symphony of the Night 2" appeared, thought "FAAAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEEEE".

We only know two games after Rayman Legends that are using UbiArt Framework. Child of Light (that was already released) and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. Valiant Hearts is indeed developed by Ubisoft Montpellier but it's a small project compared to Rayman Legends. Ubisoft Montpellier works on more projects than just one at the time.

Lists like this one always "leak" before E3. There was a very similar one last year.

Well... I've been out of the loop. Guess it is possible for an announcement, but I'll keep my expectations low on that.

I would *LOVE* if they opened with a smash bros fakeout trailer. Make it look like zelda, fire emblem, X, anything, and then just reveal a newcomer. Segue into smash bros info. Close w/ Zelda or some unannounced revival of a franchise. That's my ideal this year.
