If you don't like canceling whiffed normals then you can play Vergil. He's the only character in the game who can't cancel normals into special on whiff unless he's in Devil Trigger.

Imagine how dumb he would be if he could as well :D In a sense it makes him the most honest character outside of Xfactor.

Edit: Having spiral swords and the OS's he gets due to the marvel engine kind of negate that though

And yea this is present in many games especially more fast paced games.

Vergil's normals are so good. Priority, distance, speed, and OS's for days.

Wouldn't matter much anyway... people would still put him in the back for XF3 + DT comebacks. It's really something that impacts him as a point which very few people actually do. It would still be stupid because you could keep out so many characters with just st.H whiff into Judgment Cut all day.

Sounds fine for Marvel :p

That edit....I was about to go in, haha.
Hahaha imagine how much more honest marvel would be if everyone had that rule set. But yeah Spiral Swords is dumb and the Marvel engine's OS stuff is equally dumb.

Edit: No one plays Marvel for an honest game anyways :p

I dunno man.....some characters really need that shit. Plus it's a staple of the series....I can't really see it being the same without it.

I think it would just make shitty characters even worse and excellent characters just good.

Nothing changes. VERGIL STILL GOD.

Without resources Vergil is mid tier at best. A character like Wesker can demolish Vergil 1v1 because it then becomes a footsie fight. If Vergil whiffs one st.H or Stinger he dies because most characters move so fast with ground dashes (if Vergil whiffs st.H/Stinger against Wesker he would be able to wave dash in, tea bag and then start his full combo). While Vergil can easily whiff punish other characters, he has to make a solid read or punish where as other characters can play more ham. This is why the percentage of resourceless Vergil wins are low and you can immediately tell a bad Vergil from a good one based on how they play in this situation.

That said he is rarely without meter, assists and XF in a match... all of which make him a huge threat. Vergil is a character who fully exploits the MVC3 engine all the way from the OSs, to the high damage, to the meter gain, XF, the buff stacking glitch, hit stop glitches, weird ass hit spheres, plink options, a hyper that crosses up randomly due to engine bug, loopable hyper due to properties on moves. About the only thing he doesn't exploit is TAC.

fuckin' called it, man

I think Phoenix Wright would be even worse, assuming you couldn't cancel out of normals until the whole animation is done

Not gonna find any Kibry threads. Maybe some Kirby?

Anyway, ECT seemed like it lacked a certain amount of spark to the Top 8s that i watched. The only thing that was really interesting was the Flux/Coach Steve exhibition which was pretty damn fun. Sanford vs Rico was too one-sided to get into after the 4th game.

Also, this is a better BBCP 1.0 tier list than LordKnight's junky one.

That's actually in response to LK's "ease of use" tier list he made a bit after the actual tier list: https://twitter.com/LordKnightBB/status/465698796974792705

These are silly but kinda fun.

Looks about right, Valk's difficulty of use is why I didn't really have much issues with him being dominant as silly as that may seem.

Though I don't think Haku and Mu are as easy to learn as Ragna. Mu's gameplan is fairly simple but you have to learn quite a bit about moving about the stage vs every match up to keep perfect distances or she can get blown up pretty hard. Not as hard as learning that with Nu but still not braindead

The classic difficulty of use versus power level debate.

Yup, because if honestly a vanilla ass character is the best or just as good as a super complex character that takes a ton of effort to play why waste time to learn them. Though I dont think easy to use characters should be bad maybe 5% worse at the most.

Easy characters should win by being able to out play the opponent with smart game basics.

Hard to learn characters should be able to beat the opponent by out maneuvering or overwhelming

Edit: DahBomb you already seen two examples I've made before in private that show this line of thinking from me :p

Artificial balancing and the old debate yeah. It's kinda fun until somebody's feelings get hurt *looks at twitter right now*

Nope. Mu is just dumb.

That whole debate is a big slippery slope right alongside the "let's give this character all the tools but give him low health ala Seth" balance design philosophy.

Seeing this debate on tym concerning martian man hunter alot lately.

I haven't been on tym for a long time since I haven't played Injustice seriously in about 8 months. What's going on with Martian Manhunter? My brother still plays it hardcore and mentioned some shit about him a few days ago.
