How can someone not see digital content distribution and AR (Kinect which is sort of like AR, which listens, and responds to your gesture and voice command) is not the future is a bigger question in my mind.

Well you can do digital on all platforms, but some of us like actually owning something we can play for years go come, not limited to the mercy of the publisher pulling it. If SNES, Saturn, Dreamcast, etc were mainly DD those systems would be worthless if the HDD or console died now. Not to mention something that has resell value is always a better value to me at least, You can't sell a game when your done with it, or buy a copy of a used game that was pulled from the market.

And that's coming from someone that has a 1TB HDD in my PS3 and I have to delete something every time I want to download a new game, damn drive has had less than 10GB free for the last year. My 360's 500GB drive is nearly full now also.

The Kinect point is well, pointless now, without it being a pack-in developers will always aim for the lowest common denominator as to not fragment the install base.

Without Kinect can you even voice chat without buying a mic now?

Honestly? I believe we're at the stage where people buy consoles because their friends have bought said console, which is going to a benefit for Sony. I also believe that Microsoft pushed forward this announcement from E3 because they saw some absolutely dire numbers, and so would need to have some kind of forward momentum. I would question how effective this will be, given that they still haven't really dispelled the ghost of "can't play used games/must always be online" from the general populace (and aforementioned friends factor).

The very fact it is up for debate has to be considered a loss for MS. Would it really matter if Xbone somehow outsells PS4 lifetime in America by a million units? That's still a contraction of mindshare even if they pulled that off.

I believe word of mouth to be way more powerfull than any other tactic. And Sony is winning in that aspecto everywhere. The normal consumer buys what their friends have, not the "best" console.

No way Xbox outsells Playstation in any country.

Depends on E3 showing. MS is focusing on the games, touting their superior lineup. Will Sony do anything about that? Will they get over the few PR setbacks that affected them this year?

Find out next time on Dragonball Z.

Well, they are surely going to sell less between now and June 9th than they were even going to before.

It'll be interesting to see the short term spike of the lower priced console and how it shakes out for the few months after that. But I don't think just dropping the price will instantly make people go and buy one. The PS4 isn't selling as fast as it ships just because the Xbone was more expensive.

No the XBO has a perception problem.Even at the same price the games come in under powered. Even watchdogs .... while only 900p onm PS4 is still 792p on XBO you cannot charge the same price for cheaper hardware and expect better sales. If a game is pushing so hard that the PS4 has to display it in 720p what would it look like on XBO?

Flawed logic. Most of those deals were near the end of march, those sales will be in April, when xbox wins npd.

I'm just going to post here to tell you that you're wrong. Our Best Buy stores started the $450 sales on the Titanfall bundle the WEEK AFTER TF came out. So by Sunday the 16th, Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon (at the least! Most other places were matching this too) had it for 50 dollars cheaper. And that price continued just beyond the end of March and I believe a week or two into April. So your post is hilarious.

Also, the sales momentum picked up in March during the sales, and in April, it uh... didn't stay consistent. So. I hope you're kidding, otherwise, I'm sorry, you're just clueless. Do you really think MS would announce a $100 cheaper version of their console this quickly (albeit without the Kinect), if they'd cleaned house in April? C'mon now.

People making the comparison to the PS3 last generation don't seem to get it. Sony caught up on the global scale, not on the US/UK scale... And in the US, that had a lot to do with the initial mindshare from both developers and customers. People were simply aware that the 360 was the 'better' product in terms of performance of the most popular games, had the stronger online service for the first half to 2/3 of the generation, and was easier to develop for. That simply doesn't exist anymore, and people just want to play their games where they play the best, which is what we've seen on the retail side.

Customers are hearing from mass word of mouth and even the holiday 'generic news' reviews of the hardware, that the PS4 is better. Whether you feel the X1 offers you better games or not, the perception is the PS4 plays the biggest franchises better. That hasn't changed, and just making it level in pricing, isn't going to change that.

Certainly not this year. They could theoretically pull off a PS3 style late generation comeback, but they'll need compelling exclusives to do that.

Check profile. Doesn't even hide that he markets for Microsoft.

Dang I never seen someone side with a console facing a giant and actually admit to doing marketing for said console. His argument is invalid, of course he things it's going to win April, he's not doing his job if he doesn't.

MS has a good chance of overtaking sony for now in canada since the xb1 is cheaper there, but I do not know if this will be true for the US.

They can. Whether they will or not is going to depend, as always, on the games. Price parity alone won't cut it. If multiplatform games on PS4 consistently outperform their Xbox One counterparts I'd imagine it's going to need a lot more than Halo and Forza for MS to come out ahead.

And sony will be pulling off a PS3 as well with it's beautiful first party endgame developers spitting up crazy games. GT7 PS4, ND's second+ PS4 game, Sucker Punch maybe rising to become a ND quality developer, SSM post God of War PS4 game, etc. etc.

The best this will do is stop current core 360 gamers from waiting to upgrade while also making them think twice about upgrading from a 360 to a PS4.

The best I would expect is a tie in sales. The WiiU and the ps4 have been cheaper for some time now so all we can do is expect similar sales. So realistically I don't expect a $400 xbone to come in and start outselling everything and performing better than the PS4 and WiiU did at their then cheaper prices.

Tide will probably turn once the new Halo launches. Then Xbox One will become the number 1 selling next gen platform for many months to come

Halo is a very big and important franchise that will turn the battle

Not sure what to think of Sucker Punch. They had a great chance to do that with Second Son but didn't do it. I loved the game, but that extra bit of content and polish could have easily put them on quite a pedestal as the top 3.

We already know it doesn't work like that, it's never one game.

Aren't they pretty much neck-and-neck in the US already?

Short-term, I'll say that, yes, this will give the Xbone the edge for the time being. The real battle, though, will happen this holiday season, depending on whether Sony introduces any good bundles, and what games arrive for each system.

We heard the same stuff with Titanfall and the firesale deals. Didn't happen!
So we should be careful this time, with these statements.
They will win in June. I agree that most thought it would win in March, but this is a 100$ difference which is absolutely monumental. They'll take the month in NA and after that, who knows.

wanna bet? same thing happened last gen...MS exclusive titles always beat sony exclusive titles.

It will be The Order 1886 vs Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo will easily come out on top

I don't know man, after halo 4 a lot of goodwill was lost.

I mean, I loved it and can't wait for another halo but it's just not the same. I don't think a remaster is going to change much, that's of course my opinion... man

We'll see what console exclusives are coming but if the rumored Xbox and PS4 lineups hold true, I think the Xbox will hold the decided advantage. There's not much that will move consoles games wise on the PS4 boat.

Phil Spencer is hitting all the right notes...I can imagine Microsoft will be really aggressive in the holidays.

It's like people forget The Last of Us Remastered comes out that month. That could possibly help PS4 still outsell Xbone. If they make a bundle for it whoo boy.

But why do you think one game releasing will turn the tides outside of the month it releases in?
