Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

Wait, you can't get your actual money back? That's still monumentally shit. I don't buy games just from Steam.

EDIT: lol, even Origin just gives you your cash back. Steam sucks at this customer service shit man
I got my money back once for a preorder with a support ticket before this policy was even in place. But if you bought Watch Dogs from steam for full price I would imagine you to be the kind of person for whom $60 in your Steam wallet wouldn't be the end of the world.

Regardless, whatever you think of Steam you are not stuck with the purchase as you implied :-/

edit: god his approach to that control center was embarrassing :p

I'm wondering what the people who are disappointed in the gameplay expected.

I'm thinking they expected something a bit more methodical. When you look at how the e3 demos were played, they are slower paced, where as most of the new footage is fast, run and gun, almost GTA.

I am hoping the game turns out well, and is more than GTA with hacking. I really don't like the GTA games.

only suckers preorder games. Thats what my marketing friend calls those people lol (although he does other electronics not games)

Eh, I just shift around 5$. I had MGS:GZ preordered but no plat made me skip it, so I switched it to bound by flame, decided not to get bound by flame so I'll switch it to Last of us next time I go in to Gamestop. Rinse and repeat until I actually purchase a game. People act like preordering games is a blood pact with Satan, Another huge advantage with not going digital his gen I guess.

Exactly. It came off more as a thinking man's GTA type game. Making you have to use your hacking skills to finish missions, escape, etc. I expected more reliance on it being that is what we were shown most of the time. So far, it looks like GTA with some hacking thrown in. Definitely not what I expected.

I think the problem is the players we've been watching. They mostly haven't been doing missions and stuff, and have mostly been just driving around trying to show as much as they can of the game. When I play, I plan on taking it a lot slower and more methodically.

I gotta say, based on this stream, the pace all seems pretty set by the player, and I don't think "GTA with hacking" is going to be an adequate description at all. Actually I think anybody expecting that will wind up pretty disappointed it. As specified by one of the dudes in the stream, the "core gameplay loop" appears to feel a lot more similar to Assassin's Creed (not that shocking) than GTA, but it also looks sufficiently different from either to hold my interest.
I don't know, hacking to be more than QTE, for example.
I personally am glad the hacking isn't even QTEs... :p

switching to the IGN stream. :)

edit: Oh this is so much better without the dumb faces in the corner.

AHAHAH suicide.

The deluxe version was $30 on Origin, I couldn't resist. Otherwise, I agree with you.

thats slightly different. Heck I bought a nvidia code for $28, so that is pretty much 'preordering'. ;P

GS is better because you can actually cancel. Digital on pc usually is 'prepurchasing' as in they charge you when you preorder or some bullshit, which makes refund a hassle.

I just don't ever see a reason to preorder at full price unless its some niche softcore porno game on vita or some other niche limited copy stuff. preorder goodies have always been garbage (except for that one sniper rifle in mass effect 2). And its highly unlikely there will be a shortage of watch_dogs at your local shops at launch or amazon.

Wait for reviews/impressions, get the game!

My issue with that is that the allure of this game is hacking quickly and in reaction to events. When you're driving fast escaping cops and you want to hack the street light to slow them down, how else would you want to do that, other than holding a button? I don't think anything in the 2012 trailer or otherwise gave the impression that the impromptu hacking would be more in depth. In addition, there are more in depth hacking mini-games when infiltrating the areas.

IGN stream is so much better than Gamespots which I was watching on Twitch which might have made a diffierence, but even on Twitch I have seen much better quality streams than that one. Game actually looks good now

IGN's stream's video quality is a much better. They also just realized that they can't show spoilers so they had to quit a mission.

From the E3 demo you had a hacking wheel so you had to manually choose whether you wanted your phone in "hack traffic light" or "hack L-train" mode. It was stupid. One-button hacking ftw

really really dug that hacking sequence. So this UFO abductee they got to spy on is just a total random out in the world somewhere?

edit: rainy streets look pretty gee-orgeous to me
