Over the past couple of days I've gotten a lot of tweets about my resemblance to this character on Watch Dogs. pic.twitter.com/YU48cdkNvm

lol

Hold on, so shes modelled after a porn actress, or is it just coincidence?

Who knows. Probably a coincidence...?
Kinda reminds me of this.

Based on leaderboards after 4 days there was over 400K PC players. So day one sales need to be higher than that.

The chart only counts physical copies, and I'm guessing leaderboards show global stats, and not UK only. iirc, PC sales have shifted primarily to digital.

I'm torn: on one side I am glad for Ubisoft and the development team and on the other side it's no wonder they sold that much (which bugs me).

- No real alternatives for AAA games on PS4 & Xone

- They promoted the shit out of it

And that's what makes me somehow angry. Ubisoft gets now confirmation that they did everything right - i mean the game's selling like crazy! But they sold it under the wrong assumption: people were expacting something different und didn't get what they want. I mean that's pretty obvious... but I don't think that anybody at Ubisoft cares because they made it (sales-wise). Maybe I'm just frustated.

In the UK charts, bundles are counted as physical copies iirc.

About Destiny, I really don't see it being able to pull off the same thing. Not nearly as hyped as Watch_Dogs. You could hear chatter about WD a year ago, 3 months from Destiny, and no real chatter. Most consumers probably don't know what it is yet.

Not saying it'll tank, but it won't do WD numbers, and probably won't boost PS4 sales as much.

I'd agree with this, Activision have crazy expectations for it but they've done a terrible job promoting the game or even what it bloody is.

That in of itself is weird, Activision always market well :/

It is all about the money. Which is what a business should be focusing on.

huh?

The game was exactly like I expected it to be. The gameplay is what you would expect from all their promotion.

I don't know where you're getting this from. There was a clear graphical downgrade since the reveal, but it's the same game they have always been showing.

Great news for the industry but I hated it within 10 minutes of starting the game and its tiring cut-scenes. It's not for me, at all. But I'm glad that the industry seems to be recovering again after things were going so quite before the generational transition.

yes and no. in the long run, you'll hit a wall if you just concentrate on the figures. and no it's not just about the money - games are art and in that regard i don't understand that kind of thinking.

Really? The ultimate hacking experience: please press square. I expected more and I'm sure I am not the only one. btw it's not that i don't like the game, don't get me wrong on this.

I think after e3 Activision will start marketting Destiny*. I like their approach to be honest. Not showing us content every week unlike Watchdogs. So Lets see after e3 or the beta

Wow, gonna be interesting to see the numbers Destiny pulls when it comes out and how beneficial the marketing deals have been for Sony. Grats to Ubi though.

From last page.

Thanks I found it at cvg, this crucial info needs to be in the info, not tucked away.

So next gen acounts for 3/4 of the sales, once again another game that shatters the silly belief that "bbbuuuut last gen has 160m install base so they will outsell the next gen versions". This was never true other than casual titles such as CoD and Lego titles.

That's one spicy meatball.

My feelings on the game are mixed, but I'm always happy to hear of new IP doing well. As for the split among the consoles, that comes as no surprise to me.

I'm not talking about the graphic - that's another (sad) story. The game, at least for me, lacks in completion. From the beginning to now soon the end of the campaign it felt half-finished. It's not nearly as polished as they promoted it.

Publishers are insane if they still release cross gen games next year ( I am looking at you Konami).

TPP is already in development for last gen consoles, so it probably wouldn't make much sense for them to cancel them after years of development. Same goes for other third party devs. I don't think that they were expecting the sales for those platforms to drop off so hard. But they've already invested in those platforms for upcoming games and they'll still make their production costs back. So there isn't much reason for them to can them. It's not like canning them now will really change the quality of something that was already being built with them in mind.

Last-gen sales have cratered.

Both are in need of pricecuts.

Old IP's (CoD/FIFA/BF) will still sell huge amounts on last-gen, new IP's not so much. So it's still too early to do the old yeller treatment to last-gen for publishers.
Also, as other have said, Next-gen sales are probably very front-loaded, last-gen sales will have much longer legs.

But I'd expect pricecut for last-gen at E3.

Not surprising, they probably spent more money on the marketing since the game is everywhere. I'm more curious to see if it will have legs.

Jesus Christ, all this fuss over a gta clone :/

Not that I have an opinion on the game yet, but isn't this like seeing Halo or Call of Duty sales and saying:

'Jesus Christ, all this fuss over a Wolfenstein/Doom clone!'

Surely all games are derivative in some way.

Wait for the beta test. That's when Titanfall really exploded in media coverage.

1. Hardcore gamers are migrating over to the PS4/Xbone faster than I thought, which is very good news.
2. I just finished the game last night, and what a ride! It lived up to expectations IMO.
3.Glad it seems to move PS4s.

Yeah, they both have guns, cars, and a city. You should try playing it first before saying something ridiculous.

I've finished it, it's an extremely derivative take on the open world genre, so calling it a gta clone really isn't that far off, given that it is the bar for the genre.

Not at all, those games are all distinctly different, whereas watch dogs defining feature, the hacking, is merely a gimmick. Even many reviews that praise the game aren't particularly impressed with it.

The game has no other defining characteristics to make it stand out.

Sure with TPP it's probably too late to change it. Still I think cross gen might damage its sales more than improve. Last gen software sales are almost dead next year when it launches and by being cross gen title it limits what they can to with the graphics and that puts it in worse position when customers are making decisions between it and some this gen exclusive titles. Also I can imagine that development can be little harder too as they have to test that all new mechanics work across the gens.

And how well did it really boost sales? not well enough. If Titanfall is anything to go by, Destiny won't do much for console sales, for either Sony or MS.

By the time those games come out sales would be even worst , i don't see TTP selling even 20% of it's LTD in the west on last gen consoles .
