This seems...expensive. But its Europe with VAT and all so I'll assume this would be $550 in USD.

It does, if they are going to bundle the Vita I think it should be $499.99 max. Unless they think the power of the PS4 sales can move those units regardless. I love my Vita, it's an amazing system and was made for the PS4. Has some great games too. It's just too expensive.

It looks so right, too bad it took them so long to make the bundle.

absolutely. $499 puts it parity with the more expensive Xbox. And give people a choice between Kinnect and a full fledged portal system with all the cross play functionality and I think that's a no brainer.

Seems like a 549.99 bundle, hopefully it's 499.99.. What are the odds of this hitting the us? E3 surprised exposed? Or Black Friday incoming bundle?

works for Gamestop (lol)
Best Buy is selling this next week. Could mean nothing though since this is a Best Buy bundle as noted by 2 SKUs (seems like this was already mentioned but here's the ad)

Of course these start popping up just after I get a PS4. But with the offered prices, I feel a bit better about that decision. Those aren't really that great of a deal, in my opinion. No, I'm not expecting Sony to just give away the Vita for free, but $50 isn't that much of an incentive overall.

Yeah, the inclusion of BL2 says they just slapped the PS4 and Vita together. I can see the actual bundle in the states being $499 to fight the xbone kinect bundle.

Yeah I think $499 would be best price point. Gives Sony their own 499 sku like Xbox.

I love my Vita and I think this could help it just a tad, which would nice.

They need to get it down to $499 to be successful in my opinion. And even then, I don't think it'll move that many Vitas.

If it's 580 there it'll be close to that here (NA). Sony isn't in a place to take a loss just to move vita hardware.

A lot of unsold Vitas out there collecting dust though, the system is very much dead worldwide aside from maybe Japan.

And at $580 its not much of a deal.

The purpose of the bundle is to move vita hardware. If they are gonna take that big of loss why not just price the Vita at like 120$?

This bundle was inevitable. Probably going to be fairly popular as more people see remote play in action IRL. It's truly amazing to play your ps4 anywhere you have either WiFi or 3G.

Also Killzone Mercenary baby

The PS4 is profitable, so they can dip with less risk this way. Plus, merely advertising this combo reminds or informs people about Remote Play and other Vita/PS4 perks. It could end up selling standalone Vitas.

They're just breaking even on PS4, which begs the question, would they make a profit on a $99 vita? I very much doubt it.

Probably not, but how many Vita games would the need to sell to make one? That's the big question. Or how many people would that entice into PS+ knowing the vast collection of Vita stuff on it?

So price the Vita low and with the new price commercials show the cross-buy and remote play perks. Not to say they wouldn't do this bundle but 500$ is eating way too much into profit margins of a company barely turning it around to move dead hardware.

Alright, I'll take this and your first quote to try and articulate it to you better:

There are two SKUs being combined here, one for $399, one for $199. Both are profitable as is, and have a margin Sony cuts into whenever they drop below MSRP for pricing. Combining them means they can use both margins for both devices combined and give a more substantial discount.

Dropping $80 off the $199 Vita alone is a lot, lot harder than cutting $40 off a $599 package. Do the percentages. Putting these two devices together is also a great way to put the product, tangibly, in front of people in a way that says "these go together." The PS4 is also selling like a sonufabitch right now, so this is also a sign that Sony is trying to co-opt that success into some extra Vita units moved.
