Battlefield: Hardline trailer Leaked?/Intentional? - Release Date: October 21.

I'd argue BC2 had far more building destruction, and you could level an entire playing field where as Battlefield 4 will keep certain structures in-tact. Each to their own though, I personally prefered BC2 over BF3/BF4 purely due to the art style and more enjoyable flight mechanics.

BC2 had buildings and structures that couldn't be destroyed too. The main difference between the two is BF4 has far fewer buildings on a whole, but that doesn't mean the destruction itself is worse. Far from it in fact. I liked BC2 better as well but credit given where it's deserved.

Bitterness aside from getting burnt by BF4 and Premium, this was a bad, weak trailer. Don't care for the visuals, not much direction, not much of anything really. I'm sure we'll see more very soon, but not really impressed thus far.

Given BF4... yup. I am totally going COD this year.... I am not kidding... if the exosuit in muliplayer handles like the Nanosuit in Crysis 2 did.

Don't expect Visceral were allowed to deviate from what's unfortunately become the standard formula for Battlefield single-player. This will not be SWAT 5.
So far the multiplayer looks like Battlefield. But I like Battlefield MP, so I suppose I'm fine with that. It's just I was expecting, and kind of hoping, they'd do more with the concept. But then I haven't seen much yet so...

Might pick it up at some point
Told you guys October is gonna break some piggybanks
Hopefully not because of this game. Buying a Battlefield game the first week it's out is an objectively bad idea.

I love battlefield, but something about this should look better than it does. It looks too much like BF4 and doesn't have enough of its own vibe.

If the single player goes the HEAT route, it could be seriously amazing. Still not sure about the multiplayer after the leak as it merely looks like a BF4 skin and not much more, but I'll wait and see.

From that trailer, it's more "Bad Boys" than it is "Heat".

I have to believe this is intentional. Otherwise that means I have to believe a fuck up on this scale is possible.

No. BF4's destruction is objectivity better than BC2's. It has full destruction on buildings with most able to collapse, micro destruction on walls pillars etc, levolution, and full terrain deformation. There are a lot of debatable arguments you could make about BC2 being better but that is not one of them.
Not really. Levolution is an abomination in both name and design. Destruction as a central game mechanic has a lot to do with map design and the balance of other elements. BC2 uses destruction better and is also the better game even if the BF4 inclusion is more technically robust. It doesn't seem like BF:H is doing anything to address that, thus my point. I don't care if this game uses Frosbite 7.0 that allows me to selectively damage steel rebar. It still won't be as good as BC2 from what I've seen so far. In the demo video they showed microdestruction, breaking glass and columns, but nothing like Arica Harbor or White Pass. It seems like a BF3-esque implementation.

Thankfully this game won't be a part of it for me.

Ok my opinion it looks incredibly uninspired and a complete rehash of BF4, which I've already bought once.

Quoted for total agreement. I am not some BF hater either, enjoyed all the battlefield games up to this point even BF4 with all it's fuckups. This one looks extremely boring on every level.

Well this cements no Evil Within or Evolve purchases. Sorry but October is too packed

I played and enjoyed BF4 more than any other game since it came out, so I will be there again. Hopefully it's a smoother launch though, obviously

This had to have been an intentional leak along then, right?

Right?

Tbh, I'm not getting as much hype as I would having this announced at E3, or at the very least, "leaked" slowly. The whole large/fast influx of info is really just taking down the mystery(?) of the game.

Still this whole setup for the game is something that I'm a sucker for and I'll gladly buy it when I get the chance.

A couple questions. Was development on this started before DS3 shipped or has it only been in development about 15 months so far?

Also, are you guys still working on a new IP?

Worth a shot haha.

Well, development sort of ramps up rather than begins all at once. There was a core team on this for about a year before DS3 shipped, then the bulk of the team came over.

We always have multiple things going at different scales. Star Wars is our other thing currently going, but we always have some other stuff simmering, including the New IP.

Oh hey so that does still exist.

However... I wasn't under the impression Visceral was large enough to juggle that many projects even switching staff around in pre-production on one/production on the other... hmm... *goes to detective board*.

Anyway, on the note of something you might actually be able to answer (since I assume you're trying not to say more about Hardline prior to E3), was the new logo supposed to come with some kind of general studio rebrand and the whole leak saga just threw a wrench in that, or was it just to look a bit less horror themed in general?

After the shitshow that was bf4 i will never buy a battlefield game again. That game came out broken and EA KNEW IT!. There was no reason to release the game in that state. Thus I am done with the battlefield franchise.

Just felt like time. It wasn't so much to specifically less horror, just something that was a proper logo and less of an illustration as the old skull.

Heh, the leaks threw a lot of wrenches, but the logo wasn't one of them.

Dead Space 4 please.

My man.

Playing Dead Space 3 last night with bone controller on PC. Do it guys. Plasma cutter in this game for breaking into vaults is acceptable while we wait.

A bit mroe of topic: trailer is fine, I do hope that is supposed to be the *teaser* and not the main sp trailer, it's not the best I've seen. I would lvoe for the campaign to be more like the shield than it looks but Visceral SP campaign, I'll definitely play it.

And well yeah i can agree with this. I talk a lot of shit around CoD..but here i am playing Ghosts on my PS4. At least to me that game is not totally broken because you can play it day 1.

Can you guys say what DICE helped with?

When does a new objective mode or two warrant a full-priced release plus premium? Did those dog-tag modes in Call of Duty do it for you? They changed the dynamic of the gameplay, yet not enough to overcome complaints leveled at the game for feeling samey. That's what I got from all the leaked footage. Yes, we'll shootbang with new guns and have new maps to play, but I'm looking for more of a departure in a spin-off. And the aesthetic goes a long way in that. Bad Company didn't have this problem; BC had its own identity. It's just that BF3 looked a certain way and BF4 looked a lot like BF3 and now BF:H looks like BF4 and so on. The SP is likely to be improved as anyone can do SP better than DICE and MP also will likely be better (not saying much), but I guess it's a matter of degree for me.

And I can't remember ever playing a beta for which the final product was unrecognizable or changed my perceptions in retrospect. Betas really are representative. They're just rougher around the edges.

I completely agree with what you are saying but the reality is that with this game Battlefield has now become a yearly franchise, and with that I don't think we can expect much variation at all :(

Chances of this having campaign co-op?
Looks like it would suit it nicely.

PRetty sure it has some sort of co-op, there was 4 player split screen in that leaked trailer, but I'm not sure it was billed as being part of the SP, maybe it's own mode. Fuzzy on it right now. If you check out the leak omaha trailer I'm sure it has the answer to that Q.

I think that was just supposed to be four views of the action at once.

Given this is a cross-gen game I'd be surprised if there was campaign co-op since it feels like they would hit the memory wall pretty quickly and most of the footage was of just one player.

I do think a co-op mode might not be out of the question though, but just that I'd be surprised if it was the main campaign.

Damn man, good shout, I assumed it was co-op when I was watching it; apologies Kenny.

Gonna take a guess that Ea won't be reviving the MOH franchise anytime in the foreseeable future. So turning Battlefield into a yearly deal is the best way to compete with COD. As long as this shit doesn't turn out like the clusterfuck BF4 was, then they should take all the time they need into getting it right.

What a horrible trailer, yes i'm biased. BF4 screwed me over and now i'm mad.
No, but i am interested in some real gameplay, i won't trust any teasers/trailers.
