No, I think it's:

Halo 1 multiplayer w/ Halo 1 maps
Halo 2 multiplayer w/ Halo 2 maps
Halo 3 multiplayer w/ Halo 3 maps
Halo 4 multiplayer w/ Halo 4 maps + 6 remade Halo 2 maps

Am I right or way wrong?

Each game runs on it's own engine with it's own multiplayer.

I'm not too sure about the 6 remade maps.

But what you said about each game with it's own multiplayer is true.

What a waste of time to re-ship Halo 2 with all the bugs that were in it from Bungie having to make a date tatooed on an MS exec's arm.

This is pretty cool as someone like me who's never really played much in the Halo series. I've only played the Anniversary Edition of Halo on 360 last year and ODST. Now that they're doing this, having everything on one disc, I can buy it and catch right up.

They clearly took no notes from Halo 4 bringing back armour abilities to Halo 5. No, changing the name to "spartan" abilities doesn't magically make them something different. They will still completely break the game.

It was a 20-second teaser, and already you're so sure about this?

We really need an update for the OP for clarification. Too much confusion about what this game actually contains.

This is essentially 4 complete games in 1080p/60fps with original MP included. Only one of the games will be remastered with new textures, cutscenes etc. (Halo 2). All engines will be accessed seamlessly on one disk.

I wonder if there will be any minor upgrades at all. For example, increasing the object budget in Halo 3+4 Forge. Probably not but it would be a nice touch.

Also, I know people are most hyped for CE and 2 multiplayer but I also can't wait to play Halo 3 with dedicated servers. That game was always held down by crappy net code and I imagine it will play much, much better with dedis.

The 6 remade maps are in Halo 2 multiplayer along with the original maps.

First tragedy, then farce.

I said this before. I would much prefer that everything that happens once the Brute's show up be redone with the AI from Halo 3.

That said, the Library was still in CE Anniversary. So yeah.

Keep in mind, it's each map using the engine it came from.

Yeah, I think that is what some people are not realizing is that it is using their original engine, so it is not like they are redoing the textures or adding more polygons to character models etc. With that said however, pumping the resolution to 1080p and giving 60fps is really nice and they all will definitely look a lot better because of this.

I hope we get some better video's or direct feed capture. I would love to see what Halo 3 looks like with the better resolution and of course the fluidness of 60fps.

So this collection actually renders my 360 disc useless pretty much.

Yes. This becomes the defacto way to play Halo since both Halo CEA and Halo 2A will be able to bounce back and forth between original and updated graphics with the press of a button.

Did they mention if they will be selling 'Halo 2 Anniversary' separate as well or do you have to buy the collection? (i'll be buying the collection anyway, i just wondered).

The question i have is... is superjumping/bxr/bxb fixed? Or are those considered "how the game launched"
Maybe that's the real reason; maybe it's not. Whatever the case may be, it's just cool to see online multiplayer returning for those earlier games--all of which run in their original engines, exploitable glitches and all. So yes, according to 343, all those tricks and exploits (think EXP boosting) you discovered in earlier games are still there, because the developers wanted to preserve the original character of these games--like a snapshot in time from before the dawn of patching and title updates. Except, you know, with all the downloadable maps included.

So on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the Silent Hill HD collection and 10 being Metroid Prime Trilogy, what would you rate this collection?

The IGN stream post-show guys just discussed this. The code is entirely unchanged, so all those things are returning. They said the standbye glitch is gone due to dedicated servers, but I don't really remember what that was...

So will my dream of finally playing Halo 1 with the original physics and multiplayer online (on a console) come true? I am still skeptical that it will be identical. I need my crazy Warthog physics.

Uh, they explicitly said Halo 2 is getting the remastered treatment. Why would it be for Halo 4? They're remodeling 6 Halo 2 maps for Halo 2.

Not interested in XB1 just to play these again, but that is one great value package and the Halo faithful will eat it up im sure. Clever way to transition Halo fanbase to XB1.

I don't get why they're doing MP for each game. The user base will be split (and no one will play Halo 4).

Right except the remade Halo 2 maps. They play within the original Halo 2 multiplayer, and you can simply select an option to switch between new and old graphics, including during the multiplayer for these 6 maps. All the other Halo 2 maps simply don't have a "new" graphics layer created for them.

They've done the same thing for Halo 2 Anniversary that they did for Halo CE Anniversary - you have the ability to switch between new and old graphics engines. The rest of the code, such as physics and gameplay are left intact.

Standby and modding were the worst parts of H2

Modding is obviously gone

Standby was people who had host would press the standby button or disconnect and reconnect their cable and everyone else is in handshake mode while the host runs around killing everyone

Ah, okay. So will Halo 1 multi use the original graphics?

Here we go:

"What you can expect, however – and this is huge news for fellow old-school Xbox gamers – is that Combat Evolved’s multiplayer will be playable, online, in its original form. No more Halo: Reach map packs or excuses about CE multiplayer not “feeling” right online because it never had net code to begin with (let’s leave Gearbox’s Halo PC port out of this). This will be the OG Halo 1 three-shot death pistol, the OG “Blood Gulch,” etc"

yesssss

How does this work, though. Are all the games on a single disk? Or will you need to install four disks and run them all from one.

I hope over time all the Halo 2 maps are re-done, it's gonna be strange jumping back in forth between them when playing online.

fuck it, Halo CE online...I didn't even see that. Will buy.

The standby glitch was when the host would put his modem or router on standby and then be able to kill players at a whim for a bit while other players were caught in lag, and then re-enable the modem.

So very stoked for dedicated servers in Halo 2 and 3 multiplayer!
