Firefight was ODST. Reach's sucked.

Reach's MP sucked. The campaign was a good story. ODST had an amazing campaign, maybe the best.

I didnt like ODST's firefight mode because you had to build a team to play. In Reach I could just join a random. I loved Reach's campaign. Hell, I loved the campaign in all of these. It's just PVP I don't like outside of Blood Gulch CTF.
 
What's funny (and kind of cool) about Halo is there is so much disagreement about each installment.

Very true, but we can all agree that CE and 3 had the best campaigns by far. (even counting the horrific Library and Cortana levels from both)

The Campaign was pretty good though.

Agree to disagree. I thought it had the weakest campaign of all the Halo games. That might have more to do with my hate of the changes they made to the series though....
 
Reach was a great game. Ultimately flawed because of Bungie being pulled in a dozen different directions, and I also understand elements that, on a base level of the experience, do turn some people off, but just to say "it's garbage" because of loadouts is pretty petty and senseless, especially with the insinuation of placing all the blame for Halo 4's loudout/perk system on Reach.

congrats frank, you sold an x1 with the mc collection.
but you should really think about an option to limit the framerate to 30. the animations in h1+2+3 will look super shitty when displayed at 60 fps

now please: dont fuck up the story of h5.

-i want to understand everything without reading a fucking book trilogy
-no more "master chief sad cause no cortana". we already had plenty of that in h3.
-no more "chief is the one" stuff
-bring back arby!

Halo 2 and 3 multiplayer (never played 4 and forgot how Reach was) was great for two reasons:

1. Rankings determined by wins/losses
2. No unlockable gear/weapons/perks
3. No worrying over K/D ratios

It was fantastic always being matched with players of equivalent talent. COD-style blowouts (ex. 75-25 on team deathmatch) just didn't happen very often as I remember it.

Oh wow I never knew that. That's something I've been wishing more shooters did.

I dont understand how the game gets away from any criticism, easily the worst campaign of all the Bungie games.

It feels like they just spat it out to finish their obligation with MS.

I agree, since it's garbage for more than just loadouts. But that's for a different thread.
 
They are not just prerendered, they are CGI done by blur, and will be as close to photoreal as it gets.


We are probably 3 generations away from doing that in real time.

I thought they were. The arbiter's teeth gave it away, but that Sargeant Johnson model is almost believable, but just too many skin effects and material simulation.

I think it's probably in the works but won't be announced until early next year.

I don't see them porting Xbox's bread and butter on another platform. Which is why Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo Reach and Halo ODST never came. It's a pipe dream thinking that they will come to PC anytime soon. It's like Dreaming that Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3 would come to PC.

Fair enough. What I meant is, it is not in engine prerendered like you see in Ryse, Uncharted, TLoU, etc. It is a full on outsourced to CGI company, CG movies. Semantics, but the difference is tangible.

Oh. I play Halo with a group of people, so finding 3 others wasn't an issue.

Are those cutscenes in Halo 2 Anniversary real time or pre-rendered?

Also with the games running at 60fps, will animations for enemies and the players be updated to 60 as well? Halo 1 on PC had this issue with 30fps animations and 60fps gameplay, where things look odd.

Frankie let the cat out of the bag on the IGN livestream i think.

And this is different. Halo 2 was on PC. So why not halo 2 anniversary? There were also those steam listings for Halo 3 on PC in the past.

When you switch to "OG realtime", can you do so with new engine as well? Either way that sounds awesome.


Also, not to beat a dead horse, but will there be any sort of collectors edition that I can spend my life savings on?
 
Reach is better than 3 and 4 in campaign, and the firefight mode was amazing with friends. It's the only big omission from this package.
