Xbox One July monthly OS update detailed

There's a lot that needs fixing.

You're joking right?

Now? Or at launch?

On topic though, I always suspected snap was the new "guide". Looks like they'll just continue to incorporate more and more into the snap area as a replacement for the old guide. I have no issue with that.

Some good stuff in there. Stuff that should have been there from the start (especially controlling snap with your controller) but at least they're working on it

So clearly the "Future Digital Bundles and Compilation Discs." Is for bundled dlc onto full digital versions of games.

Would imagine it's going to be like GOTY editions of games, created digital bundles. Give publishers the ability to add content to digital games, create bundles easier.

The digital bundles thing is cool, but I'm more interested in digital pre-orders and pre-loading. Yea, I know, pre-ordering needs to die. But as long as companies are doing pre-order bonuses, I don't want to miss out on them because I want to stay digital. Also, It sucks buying a game at midnight and not being able to play it for 12 hours because it's 50GB and I only have an 8Mbit connection.

I'm still waiting on my cobgratulatory PM.
Maybe scroll up and look up my other post? But here, I'll give you another one. How about fixing the mess that is the frontend user interface? Tell me, how do you like sorting out your pins? It's a mess.

Your post history is rather enjoyable. Everything is a snarky anti-xbox one liner. I know it's a gaming forum and both sides can comment but can you just stop shitting on everyone else's fun for once?

Anything planned for Kinect-less XBO owners to "speak" to the console using the headset?

I'd love to say "Xbox, record that" instead of passing thru all the steps to save my gameplay.

Ya probably not, they for sure want you to buy kinect... I do hear what you're saying tho, thats like the only kinect feature that really fits a need. For me (i have kinect) 1 valuable feature is not enough to keep it plugged in though.

This is one of the reasons I came back to XB1 a few weeks ago. Love the PS4 but its basically a BF4 machine so far. Can't believe Sony made a big deal about suspend/resume at the PS4 reveal almost year and and half ago and haven't delivered. Its awesome when I turn on my XB1 and the Forza 5 race is where I left it the day before.

..until I try and snap TV next to it and the game crashes.

I feel it's safe to assume if you're buying an Xbox One you probably have an Android or iOS device.
Really? I think that's definitely reaching and if they're designing their UI with that in mind then that's a major misstep.

And who said they did design their UI with that in mind? You can rearrange your pins on the console right now. It's currently a tedious process, but it can be done. I'm sure a future update will make it easier.

So yeah, the new patch re-introduced the ****ing static back into any headphones I plug into my XB1 adapter. Thanks, Microsoft.

My only wish is that they'd make snap more like picture in picture so the game doesn't get smaller on my TV.

Trying to play a game while snapping something messes with how the game looks, whether it's aspect ratio or fidelity.

It'd be nice to just have a PIP window open in the corner of the screen, whether it's your party, achievements, or whatever you want to snap to. Let's take it back to the 90's.

I can honestly say I've never had my game crash while using snap. I've had issues with Titanfall and Battlefield crashing occasionally , but never because of Snapping or moving to the home screen even.

Double-tap to snap between apps has been an active function since launch. Double-tap to open snap though, that's new. Makes sense.

The headset adapter has been working perfect for me since the May update, and I haven't seen anyone complaining about it on the preview forums.

Also, I haven't had a game crash when snapped since the launch version of the OS.

The external HDD implementation in the final June OS is still a bit rough around the edges, so I'd expect some fixes for that too.

"Your Achievements" now available on Xbox.com

You can see every single achievement, ordered by unlocked/locked, including those nice achievement pictures.

I think slowly they are integrating the Xbox One system @ Xbox.com.

I'm also noticing peoples recent game clips are showing up underneath achievements as well. Looks like the site is getting a bit of an overhaul.

wow, was able to easily scroll back to my first game I unlocked achievements in
1000 points for beating King Kong, haha

Also, you can very easily right-click and download all the achievement pictures as well. On Xbox One, it looks like they're 1138x640 pics

Um...?

Why would they do this and give you reasons not to buy a standalone kinect when they come out?

This!

Kinect-less X1's just miss out, plain and simple, you want games right? Well the kinect-less X1 gives the gamers who screamed "I dont want to talk to mah Xbox, give me teh games!".

So now you have it.

Anyways, I love the monthly update roll-out. This will make the X1 a well-rounded digital entertainment hub in the future.

Some neat stuff there.

I have a question. I'm getting an Xbone next week, mostly due to Halo Collection, and because I always end up with all the consoles anyway, but, will I have to download all the previous updates seperately? Or am I looking at a huge mega-update? Or maybe some of the updates come preinstalled?

The newer the X1 (manufacture-wise) the smaller the update.

I really wish that they would change the label to all of the XBLA/Indie games to make them consistent. Drives my gaming OCD out of the roof when I see inconsistent labels:

It should just do a single, full update to get you up to latest. I imagine they update the consoles that come out of the factory every now and then, but considering the pace that MS updates the xbone, there's probably a newer update by the time you get it.

It's all good that I get an update for the xbox one OS every month but when are they going to have an update for the sluggish way the OS feels at times and please I don't need xbox fanboys telling me the OS runs smoothly cause at times it doesn't and no its not only my xbox one.

There are others on the Xbox forums complaining about headphone static too.

It behaves exactly as it did when the problem showed up the first time. A little static at first, then constant. Pulling the headphone wire out of the adapter and plugging it back in takes care of the problem for a minute or so before it returns. I'm getting really fed up with my XB1, mainly because I have a young child and using headphones at night is my only option.

Are you referring to how sometimes when you're playing a game and you press the Xbox button it can take upwards of 3 seconds for it to register? I have that too.

Yeah man and other things to, I mean the OS runs better than when it came out but they need a stability update cause its laggy at times and it shouldn't it has enough ram or maybe just poor optimization idk I'm not a programmer lol.

You should probably back out of the preview program, because you are going to deal with more bugs because you're basically "testing" unfinished OS updates.
