Cobra, look at this.

We have found slave ships. They seem elusive because unlike permanent Roman roads, ships do not have an infinite life-span. The vast majority of ships don't sink. After a hundred years or so, they are scrapped, and new ships are built with their wood and metal. We've found two slave shipwrecks (the Trouvadore and the Henrietta Marie), and they seem shabby because when ships are underwater for hundreds of years, they get eroded.

It's hard to find shipwrecks of any kind, because we don't really know where to look, and the ocean floor is incredibly vast. It took decades to find the huge, metal Titanic. Finding a small, rotted wooden slave ship is even more difficult. Not many wrecks of any kind have been found, and because most ships in the 1700s Caribbean were not slave ships, even fewer of those wrecks were used to transport kidnapped African people.

That thing in the background? I bet it's not even a real boat.
And today I learned that homestead.com still exists.

I made my first website there!

You guys.

You know how sometimes you say "lol" or :dead or whatever because you chuckled a bit? Well.

This thread literally made me hysterical.

It was that damn baseball gif that put me over the edge.

I'm... slowly recovering.

Were the slaves fed food and water and if so where did the supplies go if there were hundreds of them packed on the ship?

Probably in the space where they didn't keep slaves. Transatlantic voyages would have required preserved foods kept in barrels and casks, which could be stored rather efficiently. You're also acting like slaves were well fed on their voyage.

Do you know you can survive literally months on just water if you have sufficient body mass? Or did you think these people were being fed steak and lobster every night?

Does this mean I've never actually eaten food or drank a beverage in my life?

I mean, those meals don't physically exist at this very second.

Am I dead?

Brined Pork etc. Salted food in barrels. Meat can last for long period of times for Trans-atlantic voyages. Salt-free water was moor of an issue.
