If it was propaganda, then why tell your subjects that they were brutally ripped from their homeland?

If the goal was to legitimize the takeover of the Americas, why teach that another group (Native American nations) was living there first?

Because the story has to be believable, of course.

Who would guess that underlying the slaughter of an entire race of people there was actually the slaughter of an entirely different race of people? In space. But no slaves.

That's a bit of a misnomer.

Moorish transportation vessels are strictly atmospheric. They use of a form of FTL drive that allows them to exist in two place at once, thus allowing for travel BETWEEN planets but not outside their atmospheres. I've detailed the principles behind the devices in my manifesto.

To make him easier for people to acclimate to, thus easier to accept Christianity.

Aren't all ships technically spaceships, in that they technically navigate through the space of the universe? The Moors could have built space ships that traveled upon currents of congealed hydrogen and oxygen in a liquid form.
