Destiny's closed beta will land on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in "late July", a trailer for the game has confirmed.

The date suggests that the beta will arrive on Xbox platforms 1-2 weeks after it hits PS3 and PS4 on July 17.

It's four days. So, the 21st.

No big deal.

Yet no trailer with that actual screencap on the Xbox or Destiny YouTube channels.

As such, take it with a grain of salt. Also, I have to say I didn't expect such a sketchy report from Videogamer.

I thought bungie said PS3/4 get the beta ~4 days earlier than xbox. So if the beta starts on the 17th for Playstation then the beta starts around the 21st? I thought I heard something like this a while ago.

The more the merrier.

Will be great when Destiny threads are about how great it is rather than "omgthislooksboring"

Not really surprising is it? Has been stated that the Destiny beta will be on Playstation platforms on the 17th and that it will be exclusive for 4 days.

17 + 4 = 21 aka Late July.

No need you can view it yourself from the games section of the store on the X360 not sure about XB1. It's called Get Ready for Destiny.

Late July is cool. There are a few people on my Xbox friends list who are way more stoked than I am to play this and won't be bothered by the VO.

Even though the co-marketing deal between Sony and Bungie can be annoying for people just with an Xbox, four days wait for a beta is really negligible.

The codes for the beta were only with a preorder right? I'm a bit confused...

Although they already announced this at E3, why are they so prominently advertising it (I guess due to the boatloads of money Sony must have spent to secure it)? I truly wonder if any one would be tempted to get a PS4 for the 4 days, or if any one really cares? I imagine it must be due more to gaining mindshare, and attaching PS4 to Destiny as much as possible, but sheesh. The 4 days thing is cringeworthy (just a simple "Experience the Beta First on Playstation" would sound a whole lot better).

4 days beta exclusive...

Sorry to turn this into a pseudo sales thread but I really interested to see the sales split between PS4 and Xbox One. I doubt it would be as significant as it has been for Watch Dogs.

With all the advertising Sony is getting with it I would not be surprised if it's a significant lead.

Too early to say. I mean, I'm positive that Destiny will sell more on the PS4 but it's too early to say by how much. Multiple factors.

PS4 has all of the advertising on top of the exclusive content and the white Destiny PS4 bundle which will definitely sell well. Xbox One audience loves multiplayer shooters though.

If I had to guess, I would say that the split will be less than Watchdogs but greater than Wolfenstein (so in between the two). We'll see though.

I don't know about that. The exclusive content for the game is expected to stay exclusive until at least Fall 2015. And if the exclusive advertising deal follows Watch Dogs lead it will be 60/40 at the least.

I do, the marketing push will be strong for this, with Sony platforms at the forefront.

I'm probably getting the Xbox One version due to friends and controller preference

Can't wait for the Xbox guys to get their first taste of Destiny. Gonna be fantastic reading all their gushing comments in the official beta thread.

Seriously guys you'll love it. I always thought it looked boring as hell in every game-play video I watched until I got my hands on the alpha. Hopefully the beta will run for a few weeks or more and we can all get a good taste of it before launch.

I'm lucky I got 2 beta codes from Amazon.
I'll be able to play the PS3 beta for the extra days and then the X1 beta when that starts too.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Looking forward to the beta, impression for this game is solid from people who have played Alpha. Beta should be almost the final build I suppose.

Is it possible to get access to the Bone and PS4 beta via the same Bungie account?

The reason I ask is I've got both on pre-order, and I want to check both betas out to determine the final version I purchase.

I suppose at the end of the day I could create a new Bungie account for the Bone beta as I've already registered my PS4 code.

Dope.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Alpha and can't wait to play more. The more people experience Destiny, the better. We are united under the same Bungie Flag lololol

Played the alpha. Gotta be completely honest, felt weird playing a bungie game with the playstation controller. You can really see the halo inspiration. Can't wait to play this on xbox. If anyone wants to add me on xbox live for this my gt is OfficerV

I didn't think it was possible so I made a new Bungie account for my PS3.
Didn't want to waste a code if turned out it wasn't possible.

The beta is a free opportunity to try out the game to gauge interest.

Yes no one is contesting that.... Why already decide to cancel before trying it out? To me it's logical to cancel after trying it out and not liking it. Then you can say "yeah this game isn't for me I'm cancelling my pre-order". The interest has been gauged, the dude didn't like it. So it's strange seeing someone trying to play the beta who already decided not to get the game. He may re-order again, but iirc the beta spots are finite, so if the dude likes it and re-pre-orders, he's getting another code, which means he's likely taking someone's spot in the beta.

I think that was the point he was trying to make...

PS has many advantages over the XB1, why do they need to do this silly 4-day headstart which is not going to change (m)any minds?
Did you play the alpha? . Have you seen the withdrawal thread? . People would have killed for a few more days of that extremely limited trial run

Us folks that like to buy digitally didn't get thrown a bone.
