are people expecting this to be a bad thing for Brit? The AutoTune CONTROVERSY YOU WONT BELIEVE! In what world is britney supposed to be.. marriah carey/whitney houston/xtina -- though..? Pop and autotune seem like good bed fellows. Britney also lip-synch's during her vegas shows. -- How much singing talent is brit credited for?

For someone like, adele.. sure. This might be telling of covering up a bad voice. But..

cmon.

She sounds good when she 'sings' in lower register. They always made her sing in this sweet girl voice, and that is not her voice, so it sounds horrible.

She also isn't a vocalist, but at least be an alto if you're an alto or a soprano if you're a soprano.

As a resident Britney stan, I admit these sound bad (actually don't think it sounds that bad after the first chorus) but I also don't think they're completely untouched.

The first bridge which goes out of pitch and the progression of those notes doesn't sound like a natural progression. They're not even that difficult notes to reach, she's certainly reached harder before in live videos.

If you listen to the audio quite loudly with headphone it also sounds like there is manipulation of the voice there.

My guess is that it's a first automatic render of auto-tune before somebody has gone in and manually adjusted the wrong pitch.

She doesn't sound THAT bad until she tries to sing in those higher notes. When shes lower, it sounds... passable. Not amazing, but not ear gouging either.

But those higher registers... auto tune sure is neat, I guess.

Ummm, wow. She sounds terrible. I never knew her vocals were autotuned or that she lip syncs her performances. I knew she wasn't a great singer, but I always thought she could at least hold a tune.

I kind of like it. I mean, not that I would buy it or pay for it, but I'd let her sing to me, like I wouldn't tell her to shut up or anything.

What really REALLY bothers me isn't that she is auto-tuned, of course she is auto-tuned. What kills me is that she was paid a lot of money to judge people on their singing abilities on x factor. I mean good god, this is poor. And do not believe what her sound engineer or whoever says about it being a "warm-up" take or her having an "off day". Having majored in music performance, I can tell you even the worst singers I knew didn't sound this bad on an off day. When I pick up my instrument to play, no matter how sick I feel or how much the take doesn't matter, my instrument is never that wildly out of tune. It's just sad is all

I have perfect pitch. Listening to that utter atrocity was like hearing nails on a chalkboard.

Not only was she off-key the majority of the song, but her pathetic attempts to hit some of those notes---and subsequently failing---left me wishing she just didn't try in the first place.

It really makes me wonder how much she can actually sing, and how much she's just a prop for people to idolise.

Someone should troll Britney by going on stage lipsynching to a pre-recorded auto-tuned Britney song.

Hold the phone! You mean pop music is a corporate scam based almost entirely on manufactured images and almost zero actual talent?

Shocking.

Britney Britney is a prop. She doesn't write her own songs. She can't sing her songs (as proven by this video). She doesn't really interact with her fans (see below). She lipsyncs at her concerts.

She's just a sponge to soak up popularity, fame, and riches while the hardworking people behind her talent get much less.

That's the tragedy of it all. She shouldn't get so much money for doing a disproportionate amount of the work.

This is just another unfortunate drop in the bucket. I don't know exactly how many of the major pop divas are also props, but something tells me it's the majority. Especially once they rise to super-stardom and their focus drifts towards sensationalism and building their brand.

Is she a robot? Only the executives at Sony Music Entertainment know for sure.
