TLOU: Remastered pre-orders "looking strong"; getting extensive marketing campaign

In the UK at least, surely similar for NA?
Speaking during an interview with the latest issue of MCV, Sony Europe’s John Walker revealed that The Last of Us: Remastered will be backed by an extensive marketing campaign that will see the post-apocalyptic adventure strutting its stuff on everything from TV ads to London train stations.

Walker also said that pre-orders for the Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 4 debut title, which adds 1080p visuals running at 60fps, plus a host of other cosmetic touches, are “looking strong.”

“The Last of Us is the game of a generation, winner of over 200 Game of the Year Awards and five BAFTAs," he commented. "It is now fully realized for the world's most powerful console. Pre-orders are looking strong and we're currently hitting our trajectory targets so we expect it to sell well."

In terms of advertising, expect to see hero Joel’s chiseled features plastered across ad takeovers at Waterloo and other underground stations, “male lifestyle publications,” YouTube and social media.

In addition, ITV, Channel 4, and Sky will be regularly running adverts for The Last of Us: Remastered later this summer.

people need something to play....even if its a remake, why Tomb Raider sold well on Xbox One & PS4.

For better or worse I'm slowly playing this for the first time on PS3.

I would much rather play the PS4 version but not even close to enough to get a PS4.

Thankfully the story is pretty good. Gameplay is meh. Enjoyable enough.

And yet, no gameplay screenshots

Does the game have replay value?

This game honestly has the most replay value of any single player game that has come out in a while. I usually don't replay games that much but I replayed this 3 times and am looking forward to doing it again with the remaster and I'm not the only one. Multiplayer is also great.

Good for Sony and ND.

But I really hope single game remasters for $50 don't become a trend this gen.

Does the game have replay value?

mmm not that much.

I mean, it's a great game so I had no issue replaying it. But other than a harder difficulty there isn't any difference. Even so, if you play it on normal the first time then play it on hard without listening mode the second time it's going to make it feel quite different.

There is also the multiplayer, which most people (and reviews) didn't talk about very much but is actually really enjoyable.

So all in all, if you haven't played the game there is more than enough content for the price

Any good pre-order bonuses? I still haven't ever played it. I was going to pick it up at Best Buy since I have a little bit on a gift card somewhere.

It didn't sell that well. It was like 150k in NPD. I expect it to be greater with TLOU but not by a whole lot.

Sony wouldn't have had ND port this game themselves if they think it's going to sell that poorly. The pay roll at ND is a lot higher than what they would have to pay someone else to port the game, have to imagine it would have to move more units than that just to turn a profit for them, especially if they go heavy with the marketing.

Sony should pay top dollar for the ITV World Cup final break (yes I know BBC have it as well) but would be a good spot similar to the Dawn of The Planet of the Apes buzz from the Semi Final.

Difference between TR and TLOU is TR was a multi-plat with a PC version so people already played a fancy version before the DE. With TLOU, there is no such version for people to have played.

Most people that own a PS4 and haven't played it will want to check it out, especially with the current drought.
Most people that have already played it enjoyed it enough to double dip for the upgrade.
So yeah, not surprising.

Depends on how you view it. Single player wise? Dependent on your immersion and liking of the plot. I have played it three times just because I love the story so much, with intriguing characters and great relationship building. But that's not for everyone. Some people can't play it multiple times.

Multiplayer? Again, if you enjoy the combat in the singleplayer, the multiplayer is great fun. Very tense gameplay. A little imbalanced, but it works well. But again, if you do not enjoy the combat in the story, I would not recommend it.

You sorta just need to play it and see. I love it, but some hate it. We all have different tastes.

I believe the timing of this game is excellent, it could cement the PS4 domination. This game was already too good on PS3, and x360 users who missed it could more easily justify to invest in a Playstation platform now than back then.

If they have never experienced a Naughty Dog game, they are in for a real treat.

I just have a feeling there are a few minor surpises in there that won't be spoken about until after it releases and gamers find them. I'd like to see some of the cut content from the original reveal make it.

I've beaten it four and a half times, plus a good thirty hours in multiplayer. Only reason I stopped playing was to not burn myself out for the Remaster.

So yes.

Also lol at calling Joel a hero.
Joel is definitely not a hero. What video game hero rescues a girl by killing a bunch of dudes? Not very common. One of the many revolutionary aspects of TLOU.

I am getting it. Several of my friends that played the PS3 version are getting it. People I know who never had a PS3 and now have a PS4 are getting it. This could be a multi-million seller again.

Does the game have replay value?

My second time through, I tried a lot of different tactics and strategies, most encounters allow for plenty of improvisation. And I found some new stuff in the environment, easter eggs and subtle world-building details and whatnot. It's definitely worth replaying, even though some of the puzzles and "walk and talk" sections can get in the way.

I'm more hyped to replay this than anything new on the horizon

Lol at so much anger over lack of footage. As if they're gonna just sneak this out as the PS3 version on a PS4 disc.

It's going to be the exact same game, it will run at 60 fps and it will look sharper. I don't get how hard that is to grasp. I'm certainly CURIOUS to see how it looks but I'm not losing sleep over it. My preorder is safe.

I still can't help but feel disappointed there was never a co-op option or mode for TLOU. Even the most basic horde mode would have been a fucking blast. But still, day 1 for the multiplayer and grounded mode.

They've already teased that it's happening next week

What they need to do (after the 1st batch of new shots and videos) is release videos and shots of side-by-side comparisons between the PS3 and PS4 versions. Why? So far, the remaster looks no different (to me) compared with the PS3 version. I want them to show the differences so I can finally see what is better (visually speaking) about the game (besides 1080p/60fps).

I'm surprised they left it so late for screenshots and video.

I wonder if they feel we won't notice the difference much or what?

I see comments like this a lot but I don't know many people that buy things they don't want. If that was the case all new releases in the launch period would sell well.
