That's right. The best is always front and center.

It is known.

So if I preorder on Amazon it doesn't charge me until the game is out?
Ive preordered PS4 and Dark Souls 2 both on Amazon and for some reason I can't remember this answer.

I read the OP. I get that they have different abilities: double-jump vs. glide, etc. but do they actually play differently? Is one, for example, more DPS and the other support (or insert some other gameplay relationship that fits)?

They're both lightly armored but, from what I can gather, the Warlock regens health faster. So would that make the Warlock more midrange and the Hunter long-range?

It's true that Hunter moves quicker and Warlock regens faster. But that doesn't mean one is more midrange or long range than the other. I played all 3 classes in the alpha, the majority with Hunter. I played them all exactly the same style. I'd run in to melee when possible and use my jumps to dodge enemy fire, and shoot shoot shoot. Maybe others used the classes differently, but no one ever told me that my play style was very different from theirs.

I suppose that the warlock would be more of a support class since their second focus can heal/buff the fire team. And hunters are quick, so they can play close range more often. And since titans are more durable they could possibly tank. But when I played in a fire team where every one was a different class, we all played similarly: shoot, retreat to cover, push to new cover, and use super when it was good to do so. It's possible that in later Strike missions, using more complex strategy will be required, but the alpha didn't require it.

The only thing that dictated the way I played was the weapon I was currently using. Scout rifle (semi auto rifle) or pulse rifle (3 shot burst rifle)? I play mid to long. Auto rifle (standard assault rifle)? Close to mid range. Sniper rifles were always long range and shotguns close range.

TL; DR: In my experience, I found each class to play very similarly (except for the supers). The only difference in play style came from using different weapons.

I don't understand what you mean. The best is obviously on the left, and wielding Space-Kamehamehas.

The space magic also has a magical hum. You can hear it faintly and grows louder the longer you charge it. This magical hum also has the ability to attract any person you so desire. It is canon.
I will convince someone at bungie to make this canon through much money being thrown at them as well as begging

As we all know, Peter Dinklage is a Warlock (see outfit).

Just go ahead and add his votes to the Warlock. Doesn't look good for the other classes :p

I played Warlock in the Alpha but I think I'm going Titan for the BETA. Want that extra armour advantage, plus I prefer the look of Titan armour above the others.

FML, hunters move faster? Guess my main will be a hunter then. Unless the faster movement speed isn't hardly noticeable. But if it's enough to notice, even like 10% faster, I'd prefer that to anything else just for getting around places quick like a bunny.

But I do like the Warlock so damned much. Plus my main in any game with multiple classes I've ever played has almost always been a mage class. Even if the space magic takes 2nd seat to guns in this game, it's still magic. :)

Ooh, can I join? Submitted to join earlier today. Still deciding on whether to get on PS4 or Xbox One. Guess it depends on whether I like remote play or being able to yell at my xbox to turn the volume down. I may have preordered both editions just to test them each in beta.

Bungie name: jkanik

Pretty sure things like exclusive games should matter more than those features XD but that's just me.

Looks like a poor mans Airbender.

Are we going to have to fight?

As much as I love A:TLA and A:TLoK, Dragonball trumps it. Therefore Kamehameha! :p

YES I was just about to say it.

That is fine. Welcome to DestinyGAF Guardian!

Thank you !

Looking forward to shootin' and exploring.

Accepted - Welcome to DestinyGAF!

Also all this pro-gunslinger and anti-warlock talk makes me want to throw up all my space magic i had for breakfast.
While Walock would be my main, i will of course have all 3 in beta and launch. I <3 them all.

For the other redeemable codes, were there only 17?

Yes. I would like to say so far but i don't think we will see any more this close to release.

You can't really avoid shooting. It just wouldn't work.

The Titan has the most melee centered-moves, including falcon kicks, falcon punches, and hulk smashes. However, a Hunter subclass has the Arc Blade (an area of effect chain melee) and a super melee with the Golden Gun, so it's also prominent in CQB. Warlock has just the one default melee, but it has a bit more range normally.

Since you want to do the least amount of shooting, you will probably find solace in the Titan.

That's going to be tough, since your super charges very slowly on its own, and you can only have 1 (out of 2) super abilities equipped, though you can swap between them once you have both. Killing enemies add a little boost, but if you're planning on not using a gun, it would be like a 5 minute wait or longer. You can melee, but you'd have to duck in and out of combat to let your shield recharge, and you can bet the enemies won't wait for you to get back to full. And each class has class specific special melees (Hunter has a throwing knife, Titan has an energy punch), which also has a recharge time; otherwise you just do a regular melee. One of the main game mechanics is gunplay; Bungie designed Destiny around it and is including a lot of guns, some rare with special abilities, in this game. No matter what class you pick, you'd have to use a gun at some point because the wait time between supers is too great.

Too bad. Charge and punch vanguard was my favorite way to play Mass Effect, was hoping it would be viable in this game too.

Whoops, I applied to DestinyGAF and seem to have made the same mistake. Bungie and GAF handles are the same: IronRinn.

Ooops - finally found your app. Added, Welcome to DestinyGAF and apologies guardian for the long delay.

Just requested to join DestinyGAF!

Pfft the other two just make the Hunter stand in front 'cause if he gets taken out first, the most important members of the team will still be alive.

Here's where you're mistaken - if a Devil Walker for example hurls a shell towards those Brave Guardians, you know who's the least likely to die? The Hunter.

-Titan will put up his shield.
-Warlock doesn't care; will just resurrect.
-Hunter will triple jump the fuck outta there.

There are abilities that can spawn on Uncommon or better armor that reduce the cooltime, but they require you to use a gun or grenade. In the alpha, I had armor pieces that help reduce grenade cooldown time if I used melee attacks to kill the enemy.

And, from the Destiny Wiki:

Defense, Bonuses, and UpgradesEdit
Each piece of armor has a base defense level.[5] The base defense level reflects the strength of the piece of armor and contributes to the player's overall defense level.[5]

Some armor may include bonuses to certain player attributes, allowing for additional bonuses as follows:[5]

Discipline - Decreases grenade cooldown time.
Intellect - Reduces the cooldown time of the player's Super Ability.
Light - Boosts the player's level, increasing the damage done by subclass abilities.
Strength - Reduces the cooldown time of a player's Passive Ability.
Additionally, some pieces of armor can be upgraded by gaining Experience.[5] Upgrades may grant additional boosts to various statistics, such as the armor's defense level, faster reload times for certain weapons, or faster cooldown times for grenades or player abilities.[5]

The cooldown times can get reduced. I had a ton of total Intelligence from my Armor in the alpha, which reduced my Super cooldown by 33%. But it was still a 3+ minute wait to use it. Maybe high level gear might make being a Mass Effect Vanguard style character viable, but we'll see. But Mass Effect was more RPG than Shooter (compared to other TPS), in that you were encouraged to use your different skills throughout a battle, but Destiny is more FPS than RPG. Use your guns whenever, your super is like a panic button you use in emergencies.
