I think the Rufus/Sagat matchup is very slightly in Sagat favor and with all the damage nerfs Sagat got it might even be even. I have literally never heard of Sagat beating Rufus really badly before this thread Rufus just has to play a safer game. Zangief is a lot harder for Rufus than Sagat IMO and lately they've been making that matchup look like Rufus wins easily. Should have at least switched after game 1 when Bonchan takes care of their "counter pick" so easily.

Justin beat Ryan Hart at UFGT when Hart hadn't had any MU experience....Bonchan's been playing the arcade release for 3+ months.

I'm not saying don't switch characters ever, but Sagat is not someone you need to switch for unless you're a grappler.

And yea Daigo should have switched to Yun with da quickness.

Id definitely also say the Sagat Elena MU is in gats favor....big time.

Eh dunno but I doubt it. Just don't jump and use your walk speed and better buttons. Slide under obvious tiger shots and just walk Sagat to the corner and bully him.

Is there much of a difference between the Fightstick Pro and the KE? Was planning on buying one tonight as my first stick but I'm not sure if I should just wait for the TE2 for the PS3/PS4 toggle

No replay button for matches? No improved netcode? :(
edit: But as expected I don't think there will be major balance changes beyond fixing hitboxes because it took them this long on a shoe string budget to produce USF4 as it is.. Move on to SFA4 pls..

And give the STreet Fighter Alpha series the darkstalkers and mvc origins treatment pls :((

why would they make that?

considering gats low tiger eats slides and can potentially make EX rhinos whiff I dont see how it can be anything more than a 5 - 5 at best. Gat can also punish Elenas specials at most ranges as well.

Elena can beat high tiger shot from almost full screen with a slide that's nearly safe on block. She can beat low tiger shots from nearly half screen with Ex Mallet, which is 250-450 damage depending on meters/ultra.

If she has a meter and half-screen positioning, he can't lay out tiger minefield. I'm pretty sure she can counterpoke stand roundhouse just out of range.

5/5 at worst at this point IMO.

I wonder if they'll bite the bullet with a classic costume later on or save themselves the embarrassment and make a fresh one lol.

Jonathan Holmes from Destructoid thinks that Randomness in fighting games is okay...
Every game needs a certain level of "randomness". That's what allows for dynamism in matches. Someone wrote a long blog post about the benefits of randomness in competitive gaming it a while ago, I'm sure someone will link it.

9 times out of 10 people use the term wrong though.

slide is not safe....at all. At absolutely perfect spacing its -1. 95% of the time it wont be perfectly spaced and will be very punishable.

gat doesnt have much reason to throw many high tigers against elena considering she has such a floaty ass jump. Even with 3 frame additional recovery you can still recover in time to knock her out of the sky with srk. low tigers will eat slides up all day and provide trouble for EX rhino horn...I dont know why youd want to focus on throwing a lot of high tigers against elena considering this fact.

EX mallet can not do up to 450 dmg unless you use a fully charged ultra and ex mallet can be beat by literally any normal thrown out. EX mallet hits from around the range a medium tiger knee would hit.

and no you cant easily counter poke a standing roundhouse with elena's normals. his higher hurtbox makes counterpoking it not that consistent.

Harada talking about the next Tekken game on Fab's stream. Said most likely solo, less characters 35-40 (TTT2 has 60), easier for new players. He also mentioned that backdash cancel is integral to Tekken so it'll most likely stay in. THANK JESUS.

Was really worried about the next game, but this is really reassuring.

Damn. I have to watch that. Can't believe I missed out on all this because of no real internet access. Ahhuugh.

As long as both Williams are still in Tekken 7, I'll be happy. Losing even on one (will be Anna if it happens) would be a tragedy. Anna Williams moveset too good to just let go of.

Please don't cut Dragunov or Baek, I was in the middle of learning those two

Anything of note happened on the Atlus stream? I took a quick browse through it and it just looked like casual matches of people trying the new characters.

Someone have that stupid post AAK kept making everytime someone brought up a Tekken related announcement as if it was god's word that there would be nothing about Tekken this year? Anyone?

Ticking all the boxes right there. Call it Tekken 7 as rumoured, make it PS4/Xbox One/PC and we have ourselves a game.

Come on now. That post of his was legitimately based on Harada and Murray's own tweets that there would be no Tekken announcements "this year" or "anytime soon."

You shouldn't be jumping on Gat anyways, if you just block and play patient he's going to have a hard time getting damage. Mid range is heavily in Elena's favor and that's where most of the match is going to be played considering full screen tiger shots means you're just giving her more life. I actually think Sagat should be the aggressor in this matchup lol.

I'm not getting why Elena is considered a bad matchup for Guile because she can run the same gameplan on Sagat except Sagat doesn't even have the midrange game Guile has.

So wait your telling me a developer does NOT want to talk about projects untill they are formally announced? Even.going so far to say there is not going to be anything announcec? Im shocked!

Tekken fans: what do you want from T7? What is the next step for that series?

I kind of want to see some sort of implementation of a super? Like with what we saw in SCV. Kind of. I want to see some more new characters. More 3D stages (along the lines of DOA stage type. No more infinite stages). Not cross gen pleeeeease! Full 1080p/60 action.

With mechanics, bound CANNOT go away. I am hoping movelists aren't trimmed too heavily either.

But as far as characters go, the following will likely not be a part of Tekken 7.

Miharu
Tiger
Forrest Law
Michelle
P. Jack
Alex
Ogre
True Ogre
Angel
Combot
Wang
(he officially died in Tekken 6 story so I don't know if we'll see him again).
Baek
Unknown
Violet
Slim Bob

In addition, Christie/Eddy and Panda/Kuma will likely go back to being palette swaps.

These subtractions alone take out 17 characters.

As far as Jun, Jinpachi, and Kunimitsu, I think they have proven too popular to be eliminated now and won't be completely surprised if I see them in Tekken 7 (even though 2 out of these 3 are presumed dead in the canon story, I think?)

That leaves for a roster of:

Roger
Mokujin
Raven
Yoshimitsu
Bruce
Jack-7
Steve
Bryan
Paul
Marshall Law
Bob
Miguel
Nina
Anna
Xiaoyu
Asuka
Lili
Kazuya
Lars
Heihachi
Jin
Alisa
Devil Jin
Julia
King
Armor King
Marduk
Ganryu
Leo
Zafina
Hwoarang
Christie/Eddy
Lee
Dragunov
Lei
Feng
Panda/Kuma

Plus the three characters I assume/hope are returning:
Jun, Kuni, and Jinpachi

This leads to a total of 40.

Clearly, at least five or so of the above listed characters won't make the cut to make room for newcomers.

Please do not remove Anna.

Release with 30 or whatever characters, take all the compliments about how its now more accessible and so on and then release all the others as dlc for Tekken 7 whatever-R. I think that's what people actually want.

.

I know you shouldnt be jumping on gat, which is why I mentioned why a gat player would really wanna be chucking lots of high tigers against an elena player of all people. Chuck those low tigers and limit her options severely. I also dont see how the midrange is heavily in elenas favor considering said options already limiting her tools and that Gat's tiger knee destroys almost all of Elena's options free? there's nothing she can do to stop a TK except st.hk which has tendencies to trade or get beaten outright. Her normals do beat his, but then again they beat shotos as well and I wouldnt say any shoto MU against Elena is in her favor at all.

I'm not getting why Elena is considered a bad matchup for Guile because she can run the same gameplan on Sagat except Sagat doesn't even have the midrange game Guile has.

Because once again, guile doesnt have an option that beats Elenas most effective moves against zoners, slide and EX RH. Also playing the gat MU with healing is a lot trickier than the guile MU with healing considering the speed of guiles fireballs fullscreen vs gats. Guiles midrange also isnt nearly as effective at shutting down Elenas options vs sagat. b.hp/s.hp is beatable by most of her crouching normals which low profile it and most of Guiles normals lose outright to her c.mp.

Tekken 7 could take a risk and do what Tekken 4 did: have a slimmed down roster. I honestly wouldn't mind, I just hope Marduk and Anna are in. You can add whoever you want, and add whatever new characters you want, just keep in Marduk and Anna. Marduk I think is a definite addition, as he's pretty popular. Anna is kind of a character I can see them not adding, unless they want to make Tekken 7 the final tale in the Nina/Anna rivalry, which is also possible.

I don't see them taking out Marduk but Anna is a possibility, which kind of would be really tragic for me. One of the most interesting characters with what I personally consider to be the most fun moveset.....gone. :(

Keep this duo alive MarkMan.

Honestly, if T7 is indeed having a roster cut, almost no one is safe. They can delete storyline wise (Baek, Wang, Pachi, Ogres, Devil Jin, Zafina, Alisa etc), they can delete "clones" (Anna, Armor King, Kunimitsu, Michelle, Jun, most of the top roster), popularity (most animals, Ganryu, Raven), and even a possible generation change (Heihachi, Paul, Marshall, Lei, Bruce, Lee, even Nina). As long as your char neither has Mishima Blood, young, easy and mostly used, replaceable generation wise, or hot female schoolgirl, your char isn't safe...

Either way it's gonna be a tough game to transition especially with Tag 2 being too awesome.

Been picking up KoF XIII again. Also been thinking about picking up 3D fighters again whenever the new ones come around.
Been out of the loop with Tekken, and it would be a lot easier to transition to a new one while messing around with the copy of 6 I have.

I think it's great if tag 2 ends up being the KOF98 or ST or CS1.6 of Tekken, but Tekken really does need to have an entry that lets new players pick up and play. The transition from 3s/CVS2 to SF4 was really painful for a lot of SF players as well, but ultimately I think it was necessary.

I think Anna should be kept, but most of the other clone chars should go.
I want a Devil asuka customization for Asuka now.

Gameplaywise: I want throws to work like VF. Tekken has such cool throws but you rarely see them in high-level play which is a shame.

About Tekken I had Harada in interview two weeks ago. We talked for one hour about the future of Tekken. To make it short here's what he said to me :

- They had complaints that TTT2 had too many characters so they'll stop at T6 number.
- Tekken Revo worked great in USA, for younger players, and it also had people (casuals) coming back to the series after leaving it for years. It means the F2P model, even if he didn't talked about making money with it, can help people play your game, find a new public, by lowering the entry charge.
- I told him that in my opinion, Tekken was a game from the nineties for people that grew in this period. Because the game is full of colors, electro, nonsense, light hearted things. You can have the old master Baek, then the stylish nineties hwoarang then a bear so I asked him if he realized that maybe, it was too much for people born after 2000. I feel that younger players want cool but "serious" things and that being funny and absurd was maybe is ok but for one character but not for the entire game. He told me he agreed on that and that he has to work on this while still staying true to Tekken, and that it's hard.
- We talked about tutorials and how everyone says fighting games are too complicated and people wants to get in without making any efforts, and they want tutorials. So I basically said what I said here : http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=840119
Harada told me he agreed somehow, but that if learning was a too hard, people would stop playing the game, even of the tutorial is great. He said he wanted some tutorial with a cool coach maybe, something funny that helps you feel good.
- We tried to talk about teaching the meaning of mechanics, and not just the theory, but it was hard because of the translation (and because I had two car accidents on the way, so I was exhausted). What I said to him and since he practiced Judo (I practiced french kickboxing so we could talk about this) and knows what it's about to learn how to fight, maybe it would be better to just mimick reality to show people how dangerous a fight is, even in a videogame. As it's "just a game" people does not take care about their life, their decisions, and then complaint they lost. He agreed and then we joked about a tutorial when you fight a tree and broke your leg on it, and electrocuting people when they loose. :'D
- We asked him to make a french character and had a bug discussion about what french players thought about their representation. He cas curious about Abel in SF4.

If I remember other things I'll write it here. Harada is very nice in interview.

I just saw the NLBC vs WNF exhibition - people are blowing that shit way out of proportion. Yeah, the set wasn't close but the actual matches were largely competitive. I honestly don't think the results say much, even though I did expect WNF to win.
