That really sucks. Speculating and arguing with other fans is half the fun. I'm sure the bullcrap outweighs the fun in your case, though.
Am I remembering correctly that you were told the Poke roster for Melee, denying any rumors that didn't include Mewtwo or whatnot? I was considerably young back then so I may be botching my memory, but I'm wondering why this guy would have even listed you as his source when you're more in the know of everything Pokemon.
Regardless, must have been annoying as hell to watch all this go down and not be able to post. Seems most users here called the BS for what it was though.

Well Chrom is a final smash so my bet is still on Gematsu...

Leaks supposed to be from early in development
1st Gematsu leak- post on GAF day before E3- Wii Fit Trainer, Mii, MegaMan, PacMan, Little Mac, Villager
2nd Gematsu Leak- day before direct- Shulk, Chrom, Palutena, Chorus Men, Pokemon From X/Y
3rd Gematsu Leak- day before E3- calls Mii Mii Fighter, Lucas is fighting for his life
4th Gematsu Leak- Shulk to be shown Monday (Update to this one: Sakurai changes his mind a bunch, Namco-Bandai can't predict reall, but Shulk for sure on Monday)
I still think parts of it are true though, 8/11 is too good of a record

It's entirely possible that he was intended as this iteration's Marth clone but was swapped out due to the popularity of Lucina.

Whose to say Sakurai won't reveal more stuff before that CoroCoro issue publishes?
With Greninja, Sakurai mentioned at E314 that going into SSB4, the game had an open slot for an X/Y Pokemon, so who knows how/who is giving the info and what part of the character development was known at the time.
I like to think Sakurai told the Xenoblade guy to retweet, so we can assume Shulk from the leak was gonna be revealed just so he can go "ta-dah it's not Shulk and lol Chrom"

I'm already happy with the current roster. People seem to forget just how beastly it is. I mean... Mega Man, Little Mac, Rosalina... What ground didn't Sakurai cover? He paid tributes to most of the recent 3DS hits but left most of the relevant vets in, with more to be confirmed, I'm sure.
