Pretty much. It could just be about all characters ALREADY revealed. (and it's more likely than Sakurai dumping all reveals in a Cocoroco supplement.)

Considering that I don't think they would reveal unlockables before the game is out, well...

Eh, I think it's more likely they will just have 10-15 minutes dedicated to Smash 3D in a regular Direct in August since the big directs are usually bi-monthly.

Yeah, but Sakurai hates how secrets are spoiled by the internet now so he might just have all the characters revealed before launch like most other fighting games these days. Hell, we still don't actually know if you actually have to unlock characters in this game.

Considering how coy they're being about stages, it's likely there will be a ton of hidden content in that form, along with extra custom moves, music, trophies and costumes/palettes. If that's given enough care, I don't mind having all the characters known at release.
