I worry about the amount of content with a level cap of 20 and leveling up to 8 so fast in the beta

what I gleaned from interviews is that they want to get players on an even playing field asap. so when you are level 20, and your friend just got the game. it won't take him an insane amount of time to get to the same level. Also lvl 20 isnt a hard cap. You can level beyond 20, via .. motes of light. Trailers show characters around level 29. No idea on what the hard level cap is tho

Do we know what the level cap is for Beta yet?
8, just like the alpha

I'm also kind of worried about the amount of content now. Level 8 felt like it took two, maybe three hours to hit. If the cap is at 20, that's not going to take long either.

Even if, maybe most of the content is available to "max lvl" players. I am not sure how content is connected to the players level.

Graphically, the beta is much slicker than the alpha. But (and maybe this is just more my memory than anything?) the audio/engineering seems massively improved.

I thought levelling was accelerated for the Alpha (is that the case?). Seems no different in beta from the few hours I played last night.

I remember Bungie lettin' us know, that gettin' to max lvl cap won't take long, cause they want us to lvl quick and concentrate on all the fun stuff to do. So...

If they came to see me grind, they will be disappointed.

Yeah, I figured it might be a Guild Wars style thing, where the level cap was 20 and once you hit it, 90% of the game's content still awaits.

I like the progression of leveling though.

Got my human Warlock to level 8 and played a few rounds of Crucible. I'm on PS3 and the graphics are meh, but the game itself is the most fun I've had in a VERY long time. I haven't sat and played a game for 6+ hours in one sitting in forever. Looking forward to getting the PS4 version on launch - playing the beta on PS3 will just mean I"ll be more impressed!

Probably going to roll an EXO Titan tomorrow after work. Can't wait for 9/9 to get here so I can wake up with a PS4 and the Ghost edition at my door!

Started downloading the game at 6:00PM EST yesterday, got to about 35% in ten minutes. In four hours, another .2% downloaded. Left my PS4 in standby overnight, now at 6:00AM it's only at 48%.

Anyone experiencing similar issues? I have Verizon FiOs 25 Mbps and all my devices are connecting at optimal speed, so it's not on my end.

Trust in Bungie, my child.

If the whole game had the abbreviated feel of the Alpha and Beta, you'd see everything within about 8 hours.

This truly cannot be.

Leveling has been increased by quite a bit for the beta as it was the alpha, don't expect it to be this easy in the retail game!

Played some last night, explored the tower and played all the story missions, will probably play the strike and crucible tonight. With that said, some impressions:

- Ultimately I thought that the game was fun, with satisfying combat. I have a little concern about difficulty as I found most missions easy but I realise that it's early in the game and I haven't tried the hard difficulty, and the later set piece moments do a better job of swarming you with enemies.

- I definitely echo some of the sentiment here about the story; Bungie seem to have done a good job of world building and filling it with lore but there really isn't much of a plot on show. A resurrected guardian is effectively an audience surrogate for introducing all these concepts and story but they don't seem to have really bothered beyond Ghost's dialogue.

- Long term I already feel a little worried, I don't see what here shows the "MMO like" shared world experience that keeps people playing games like that for years. The shared world idea doesn't seem to go beyond some coop missions and occasionally running past another player in the area. Some things seem to be hyped more than they really are, the tower doesn't seem to be much more than a hub with merchants.

It's hard to judge this obviously from a beta but I don't see why I'd want to stay beyond the campaign with the intention of developing this character over a 10 year period. This game is obviously intended to be played for at least another 2 years before the next and I can't see why I'd be kept keen on doing so.

This. I'm already bored of the beta, it only tooke me an hour and a half to reach level 8 :/ Let's just hope that there really is alot of content in the full game.

I'm curious to see how it looks on PS3. Do you have any capture capabilities? :)

Welp. I found a max damage (for level 8) sniper rifle with an ability that gives me back one sniper ammo every time I kill something with it.

So as long as I stick with one shot one kill, I effectively have infinite ammo.

I am god.

Pretty much .

As said earlier, I don't "not like" it, but it isn't very fun or entertaining. It has moments for sure. Just very "meh" to me most of the time.

I will continue to play the Beta though. There is a certain draw to this game that brings me back, I can't put my finger on it.

The problem is that the Alpha and the Beta are limited in content, so of course you're going to redo the same thing over and over again. When the full game is out, you'll be more free and you'll only have to do the tutorial three times at most (unless you really like to delete and recreate characters), so the tutorial won't be as much of a problem. The tutorial should be skippable but, since it was made as a mission (even with story elements)...

Also, if you don't enjoy PvE (and your complaints are legitimate) there's still PvP! Bungie said there was no problem in playing only that, like it's Call of Duty. And you'll even get loot and XP while doing it.

So guys, I said it before earlier, but just, goddamn. How 'bout that music at the last fight in "The Last Array" (the last story mission we currently have access to)? I keep replaying the mission JUST to hear that final fight theme. I hope the guy who ripped the Alpha music rips the beta music as well.
Found out the other day, he's a GAFer and he said he would :D

I'll be needing that name and how you got it.

Played this last night with a couple of friends and we had a blast doing the co-op. I like the idea of levelling up gear as well as the character. The graphics seem to have been improved since the alpha, as did Peter Dinklage's voice over. We tried the pvp which I was terrible at. I probably died more times trying to jump onto that platform than anything else. Started as a warlock, which was the same class I played in the alpha, so I'm looking forward to trying out the other classes during the beta. Overall, I was happy with it.

not having as much fun with this as i did with titanfall tbh. that will likely be the most fun mp shooter until cod:advanced warfare and/or new unreal tournament.

also you do have to use ADS at medium-longer ranges. that video had the guy shooting them point blank.

but still it's way better than borderlands imo. and while the story feels underwhelming the world itself (and the presentation) is fantastic.

they need to strip all characters down for crucible. these special attacks finna be a problem.

Unfortunately I don't, unless there's a way to do it in the game. But trust me, I thought the skybox was amazing in The Tower, then I saw a PS4 screenshot of the same spot and I was just blown away. It looks decent, but damn, can't wait for my white PS4.

God the AI leash range is ridiculously small. Some of the thralls which are meant to run straight at you in floods can literally only go a couple meters back from where they spawned before they walk backwards and wait for you like idiots. The AI in the beta, like tha alpha, is almost non-existant.

Probably should've shown off something other than point-blank rifle and a shotty :p

I wanted to go hunter in sept, but after playing that and warlock, warlock seems more powerful, but double jump>glide.
I admit, I haven't mastered glide, sometimes I like glide super high and some times I glide super low. I'm only lvl 5 as a warlock so I haven't figured it out.

To glide higher you have to press X immediately out of a sprint and hold it. At least that's what i found after playing as Warlock in the alpha

The special abilities is what makes this game special.

JB1981 you dont have to hold it at all. That makes no difference. The trick is to quickly press X again right after you jump.

How do you do all the dancing etc?

Also, it said that 'xxx has waved at you' but I couldn't find any way to interact like that myself.

goddamn seriously?

Soooo good to be back in Destiny. Game play is so damn tight.

Anyone else notice frame rates are lower on PS4 compared to the Alpha? Lots more chugging and slow down. Also sad to see bullet sponges are still a thing. The boss in the second storyline is going to be a terrible introduction to boss fights in this state...

The special abilities is what makes this game special.

.

i like the warlock one. but it feels like this is more of a coop game and the mp modes are just a 'required feature'.

it's not gonna be my go to mp game at all, but i think i'll have some fun with the full game on story mode.
