Good Guy EA: Lets give everyone The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection!

I dunno, if players are satisfied with their free version of 2 with a ton of content and then they catch wind that there's a Sims 4 with elements from the base version of the game they already have removed, would they really want to upgrade?
EA is probably betting on people who play this to get excited and buy/pre-order without doing a bunch of research on 4.

This almost makes up for the fact that the copy of the sims 3 I own had its code registered by someone else. of course by the time I tried to register it on Origin I had threw away the receipt and no amount of owning the box disk and manual will get you back ownership.

So is Sims 2 better than Sims 3? I played Sims 3 was the only one I played and enjoyed it surprisingly.
I have fond memories of playing The Sims 2 with my sister and my friends. But nostalgia aside, I enjoyed The Sims 3 more. No agonizing loading screens iirc, and I found the house building much more enjoyable.

Yes, I spend most of my time building and decorating.

Is there a how-to on modding Origin games somewhere?

There's nothing specific about Origin with this release, you can mod it the same way you would any other copy of the Sims 2. The only difference is Origin installing it to an Origin Games folder by default.

I never really played a sims game very long, honestly I never understood them. I click on things, my guy keeps peeing himself and cries. But hey it's worth another shot...... now to download origin for the first time. *sigh*

Doesn't seem to work for me. Keeps giving me an error. Probably just as well. I got Sims 3 in a Humble Bundle and never played it. Should probably start there.

I'll just scratch another entry from my "Games that are fun to play, but have a horrendous installation process" now. Just click Download and install it all without worrying about install orders, including patching everything in the right order, will be amazing.

So, nice freebie. I'll take it.

Why do businesses think this yields stronger passwords in 2014.

You can't just use your name, your birthday or a single word this way, so while it is not necessarily resulting in stronger passwords, it rules out some particularly weak passwords.

So...anyone know how to tell if a game has controller support in Origins? I'm sure Sims 2 doesn't, but I don't see any feature detail area like Steam has.

Well, it's been downloading for nine hours now. Let's check the status...

...huh. That's actually better than I was expecting with my craptastic Internet.

So I installed origin and install the sims 2, but when I click play, it asks me for re enter and verify my registration code, there is already a code in the text box, so I click done the same box keeps coming back up and so I continue to click done until a window pop ups saying its an invalid code

WTF

fucking PC gaming.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads-up. I love the Sims and only had the basic Sims 2. I hope I don't get the error code some users are getting. It's downloading now and probably won't find out until I come back from work.

I live in Japan but want to create an Origin account in English, however every time I go to the website, there's no option to change the region to America. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do?

Despite my earlier post, I caved and downloaded Origin + the collection.

I'm having the same issue, the product code doesn't seem to work for Fun with Pets.

Haha, holy shit wow. I tried to play it on my Win 8 tablet (Asus Transformer), the game had a hilariously long load time. I'm guessing it's due to so many expansions, loading pet, loading magic, loading this, loading that. Must have taken like 10 minutes to get into select region screen.

The first time you play a neighborhood it has to create the relevant townies and lots for everything added in expansions. It's pretty awful, but it's only done once.

I see people couldn't get the game to run so I just tried.
If you run it through Windows Start and not Origin you don't get asked for a CD Key.
Well I didn't anyway, worked fine, long load times though...

I'm guessing the logic behind it is:

*Get people who otherwise wouldn't to download Origin
*Get people interested in The Sims again

* People get frustrated butting their heads against the game's limitations
*"There just happens to be a new Sims game that solves all your issues!"
*Sims 4 bewcomes the first Trillion seller.

Step 1 worked on me; the jury is out on the rest.
Step 1 and 2 worked on me, guess you're right :p
I can't even for the life of me remember what TS did I played last, I was just a kid
