Are the visual improvements more noticeable in motion? I think it looks good in screens but I know some have been a bit disappointed.
Oh man, it looks so amazing in motion. The live streams and pics do absolutely no justice to the game.

The animation is so fluid when at 60FPS and the textures are so gorgeous to look at. You can even see Joel's individual chest hairs IN GAMEPLAY!.

Those newspapers and books you find scattered around? You can actually read what they say now.

Welp, I'm hard now.

It's pretty solid. I haven't noticed any frame drops EXCEPT when during extremely heavy particle effects and lots of movement is happening, which only happened once at
the Bloater fight in the gym, when there were 2 runners and the boater was using is projectile attack and I threw a molotov and nail bomb at the same time

During that part, it dropped to may be 50-55.

DAMN, only a drop of 5-10 frames in that section with all that going on? That was the section that came to mind first when I thought of bad framerate drips. That's really good to know. Thanks :D

Does Grounded mode have noticeably improved AI? Would have been nice to have a Hard mode variant with the improved AI, as I don't find incredibly scarce ammo to be any fun.

Mainly SP. I edited my post a bit. Mainly difficulty, I played a good bit of multi.

I've played through the story mode from start to finish probably about 7 times (no regrets), and I always thought Hard with listen mode off would be the best experience for the first time. It gives you enough supplies so you're not stuck playing the same way through every encounter, but provides you with a decent challenge while you're still getting into the swing of things.

The combat plays like a really dynamic game of cat and mouse that you only experience on Hard and higher. You need to feel some vulnerability to experience the tension of getting spotted and having to brawl/crawl your way out of the messy situation.

In the Remaster all dificulties are unlocked from the start. It's just that I can't blindly recomend playing on survivor for the first playthrough though I agree it's a better experience, some people might struggle with it though.

Oh, I didn't realize. That's great news for everyone. You're probably right though, survivor maybe too harsh for someone experiencing it for the first time..I guess for me it just made the survival horror aspect that much more prominent and rewarding. It's so tense when you're so limited on resources and it really does change how you approach every encounter.

I've got a question and I didn't see it on the first page. Will I be able to transfer my save over from the first game? I'm like rat at the end and almost done, but I kinda want to finish it instead of starting over. anyone know?

Jaggies are still a bit of a problem, but nowhere CLOSE to how it was in the PS3 version. Those were distracting.

The usual culprits are window ledges, but I was actively looking for them when I found them.

From that metroid_sigma stream... did they improve the blood fog?

It looks really good. I don't remember if the PS3 version even had blood fog.

Thanks man! The part in bold was my main concern. Grounded difficulty does not allow for as much flexibility in the encounters then? If not then hard with no listen seems to be the way to go.

So per-object blur is still in? I made another comparison.

That's a definite improvement, although the thing with these upscaled comparisons is that the result will greatly vary on the display you are using, since the PS3 doesn't upscale anything itself.

Loving the Joel comparisons. I remember the game being a mess of shimmering jaggies on my TV, just like in those 2 comparisons. Glad to see they are 99% gone now.

Will this be noticeable for someone like me who never notices differences in FPS?
Considering this is the first time I will play the same game in both 30fps and 60fps.

I really want to be able to notice a positive difference with all the hype around here :(
