2014 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of the Last Hope for Image Quality

How did you get your character's skin looking like that? Mind sharing your ENB's SSS settings?

Using the mature skins textures and the Phinix ENB, I copied the SSS settings that the author recommended on this nexus page:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50835/?

Option 2: -RECOMMENDED, THIS SHOULD WORK WITH ANY ENB-
Just go to your skyrim installation folder and open enbseries.ini (you may want to back up the file first), look for the [SUBSURFACESCATTERING] tag and change the values to these:
[SUBSURFACESCATTERING]
Quality=0
Radius=9.0
Amount=0.35
EpidermalAmount=7.0
SubdermalAmount=7.0
EpidermalDiffuseSaturation=0.88
SubdermalDiffuseSaturation=0.88
EpidermalMix=0.05
SubdermalMix=1.0
SubdermalTranslucency=0.1
SubdermalPhase=0.69

Also make sure that under
[EFFECT]
EnableSubSurfaceScattering=true
It must be set to true, otherwise it won't work

*thanx at CUD for the Brutal Legend impressions.

first post in this thread. Sorry for the reticule in some of the screens, disabled it later. There have probably been tons of ME screens already, but it's a gorgeous game and I wanted to share

So I started PC gaming(in earnest) a little less than a year ago. Borderlands 2 was the first game I played. Its also the most recent game I've played. So I have a comparison of the very first screenshot I'd ever taken with the most recent screenshot I've taken, which I thought was pretty cool:

Heh. That's a cool comparison. I don't know if I have the first Borderlands 2 screenshot I've taken. But this is the oldest one I have on file

That was 2880x1620 + in-game FXAA. I may or may not have been using SGSSAA.

In the comments for that shot, I wrote:
I'd kill for a free camera, timestop, and some sort of control over the night\day cycle. Then I could get crazy and take the screenshots this game deserves.

Here's the latest

7200x3600 + GeDoSaTo post processing (SMAA + shades)

It bothered me when I realized she's floating. I tried to fix it but the game crashed. Damn you GeDoSaTo\Cheat Engine.

Yea, that was actually my first screenshot taken period, not just with Borderlands!

Floatiness aside, that Mechromancer shot still looks great(she looks like a real clay model there or something!). When you have your character right there in the action, do you just slow it down and then use your commands and quickly grab some pics before you can take any damage? I've been taking advantage of your 'invisible to enemies' command and haven't had the guts to stay visible and still take screenshots, although that would definitely get some better reactions from the enemies. I tried to fake it here, but would be better if enemies were actually attacking:

If I'm planning on grabbing screenshots while enemies are actually engaging me, I'll enable god mode (numpad 7 assuming "unreal engine cheats" is activated). I'll use slow motion so I don't miss a cool attack animation. Then when I think there's a decent mix of action and scenery, I'll pause the game (numpad 1).

When the game is paused, I move the camera into position with the free camera script. Then I'll toggle to fixed camera which locks the camera in place but lets you move your character. This is all while the game is frozen.

Ah ok, I think I missed that you had an actual pause function. I was just using the super slow mo. Thanks once again. :)

It often bothers me that water reflections are done so bad in games with otherwise fantastic graphics. They are way off right, or is it me?

Yep. Reflections often use global cube maps to save on performance and to avoid a lot of technical headaches. There's also the additional problem that water in a lot of games is only influenced by light colour and intensity, but it does not receive any shadows. It's a shame, really, but now that we've hit the peak of texture quality and we're rapidly approaching very high standards for graphics tech (tessellation, physically based rendering, global illumination, sub-surface scattering, etc) developers will start to deal with other outstanding issues like reflections, realistic water, particle shading and more.
