Keep in mind, Doremi lovers. I was well aware of this show long before coming into AnimeGAF, and the version I was familiar with was the atrocious 4Kids version!

So when I make my impressions, I'm going to have a little segment on some episodes called the "4Kids Corner" where I'll describe from my memory on just how much the 4Kids version of Doremi botched the original.

I'm really glad I'm not alone on this. I saw it on release weekend and was crushed.

And then it released in NA and everybody apparently loved it and I was insane.

I don't wanna be alone. OTL

Welcome to the club. I really do not like that movie.

The had a large emphasis on Attack and Defense this episode and showed it in action. Bi's faction was destroyed due to the perfect defense meanwhile Xin's miniature ambush goes smoothly.

Ugh.. in Doremi case its seem buying the DVDs seem preferable. At least for me.

The kicker is that Doremi's DVDs have abysmal picture quality, so there is no way to watch it without having to endure the tiny video resolution, compressed audio, and washed-out colors. The only available translated release uses a DVD source, no joke. I've confirmed it by tracking down an untranslated DVD copy and Toei gave zero fucks about video or audio fidelity.

Those couple of posts there are actually a bit older. I have a couple more from almost a year after here:

History of Anime OTs

I'll have to update them at some point again.
Another post for my collection! As always, many thanks for your effort. :)

(RIP Nujabes).
The impression of closeness, of naturality his friends showed working on a tribute for him was such a sincere demonstration that it always moves me... the best way of remembering someone is showing the love and well-being that continues in the life of those one left behind.

So even importing is a capital F no option, great..

Everyone who hasn't watched Hunter x Hunter (2011) yet needs to do so desperately. Public service announcement for one of the best if not the best shonen ever. It's slowly tying and overtaking FMA: Brotherhood and I love Brotherhood with my very being. Watch it.

Eh. I like HxH 2011 but like Brotherhood better. To be fair I like Yu Yu Hakusho up until the tournament better as well.

Now it would be a good moment for Typographenia or PoeticProse22 to bring back their A-game of posts. Consolidate the momentum of change and come again in the process!

Ojamajo Doremi 2

I think I'll go into a little more detail about the plot, so people know more about what this show's all about.

Our shoujo heroine is Doremi, a third grade girl with a snarky kindergarten-age sister, a fishing-obsessed father, and a very-much-not-fishing-obsessed mother. She's clumsy, impulsive, brash, impolite, and perhaps too honest. And she's convinced that she's the unluckiest beautiful girl in the world.

After blundering into becoming a witch's apprentice (and thus enlisted into working at a magic shop on weekends), she gets the chance to put her assumption to the test in this episode, when she answers her friend's wish by swapping places for a day. This friend, Hazuki, may have rich parents, but they both discover that their families each have their own problems and charms. They learn a little about other people's lives.

It's not a show about fighting evil. It is (or seems to be) a show about using magic to get into and out of trouble, while developing a wider cast of characters. Such development would be impossible without good writing, and the show delivers on that so far. There aren't some crazy melodramatic differences between Hazuki's and Doremi's lives, but they're meaningful and shocking for each of the characters. The pressures of Hazuki's pampered life, or how Doremi's parents quarrel over her father's hobby, are the kinds of unique things that your friends might have been going through and learned to deal with without you even knowing.

The expressions are what make the show the biggest delight. The characters' mouths and eyes have the capacity to go anywhere from tiny slits to massive dinner plates, and their extremes give the show energy. Similarly, it's fun watching Doremi spin as she flies around on her broom, even if the effect looks cheap.

I hope that sincerity and energy carries through the other episodes I watch.

Its quite possible. Im sure SOMETHING can achieve tears but it would have to hit me hard on a very persoal level.

I was slightly kidding. AS was the most emotional experience I have had with a piece of the medium because it hit very close to home for me. So I think that's why I regard it so highly and why it can pull emotions out of me every single time. I was a rock when my cousin and grandfather died and for some reason AS reminded me of them
and by episode 16 I was breaking down
. I never thought I would get those emotions out. By the time I was coming around to episode
23 I resigned to better myself and aim for a better and fuller life
. To this day no piece of entertainment has affected me more than AS.

So..... if anyone ever asks why I love Clannad After Story so much.... there you have it. Spoilers for the show but you can come back to this post when your done with it Linkman.

And for reference my cousin was a lot like Sunohara and my grandfather was a lot like Tomoya's dad. At one point in my life
my father abandoned me too so I knew how Tomoya felt
. Of course everything between my folks and I are good now.

OJAMAJO DOREMI

I tried to imply this above (and probably failed) but I think emotional shows affect people differently depending on life experiences. I hope one day Cajun finds that show, because usually you can work your way back and cry at some shows you didn't cry with before.

Feng Ji thinking too much is ultimately what killed him.

Edit:
Speaking of Penguin, was Penguindrum any good?

Yes Penguindrum is a fascinating clusterfuck but an entertaining one. It actually makes sense but the direction is kind of convoluted to the point where it gets lost in all the shmaltz. Still in love with it.

Momo Kyun Sword 4
The beach episode so it had a lot of fanservice. At least 5 service shots per minute including several long pans of the girls. Even the pheasant joins in with her human form that she magically has now because boobs. Also, a giant squid who strips the girls because tentacles and more service.

I lost a whole lot of people early in life through murder and disease so it kind of hardened me to things. Im glad I was able to somehow pull out of a potentially depressed direction and find happiness in life.
Clannad didnt hit me that hard in comparison I guess.

I actually edited my post so it makes more sense why I related to Tomoya.

But I get what you mean. Things affect us all differently. Now that I look back on it, it's clear why I always got so defensive when people called AS garbage. Maybe I should reflect more often. :p

Beautiful. Incredible. A masterpiece of animation.

Full impressions coming later. I have to recover from this now.

I will say this though. It's wonderful that this show has no sequel. The ending to this was perfect. Though they at least could have shown
Holland and Talho's newborn son after the time skip >_< but whatever.
I love that almost 10 years later, this show can still elicit such a response :D Timeless imo.

You should watch the official music video the staff put together from the final episode's song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N23j1mxqkrI Perfectly encapsulates the show.

Chariot got banned. I guess I need to back track a couple of pages to find out why.

Re-watching Non Non Biyori after checking out the OVA and I wonder why I prefer shows that basically splits up the episode with different stories. Maybe they flow nicely together or something.

Well fuck.

No wonder he didn't say anything when I said I love people who started Doremi

I'm now being confused with Hito in the NFL thread as well as this one, so I'm probably gonna have change sooner rather than later. If somebody wants to help me in the Forum Avatar Request Thread, feel free.

I'd write more long, intellectually-inclined posts if it didn't take upwards of two hours to compose them.

That's actually not a joke sadly.

I'm in the same boat. Anything longer than just an impression or two takes me way too long to organize into something coherent and interesting.

Though in my case even when I do I'd likely be wrong anyway.

Man, seriously, it's just weed. Mufuckas actin like they're trippin on acid. Is it just me, or does Japan have some really exaggerated views about narcotics and their various effects?

Tactical retreat is tactical. So tactical infact that it unfortunately worked and the enemy now has a fortress of some sort

This is just the "character takes one sip of alcohol and is instantly drunk" trope applied to illicit drugs.

I'm with you on that. I'd make long posts if I wanted to, but my writing is so disorganized and I never know how to start or stop writing.
