Crytek Austin (Vigil) dev & Crytek UK (Free Radical) closed, Hunt moved to Frankfurt

That's only if Crytek sells it. But given the rate the ship is sinking, it's pretty possible they'll sell the IP.

I was half hoping they were acquiring Free Radical and their assets along with Homefront but that seems to be clutching at straws and Crytek saying they closed CryUK as opposed to selling it means I'm way off.

Edit: Wait Graeme Norgate says CryUK have been bought by DS, maybe there is hope.

Wait, both Crytek Austin AND UK are shut down! ....That is just horrible man X(.

The former JUST got shut down last year and now they are getting closed up again..... I hope a more stable studio hires this team; they are really talented developers that deserve better.

With the latter, while it is a shame that the studio got closed down, at the very least they are in the better of the two studios; the UK team looks to have a large bunch of there people hired at Deep Slivers new studio :D! Best of luck to them to make Homefront 2 (I think that is what they are working on) a great game :).

I just hope everyone in this situation walks away without any problems; it would be a damn shame to see people out of a job :(.

Sad news but hopefully there is some opportunity for reviving the Timesplitters IP.

It's amazing they're lasting this long, last good game is from 2007.

They know how to make capable and beautiful engines, that's about it. Crysis was great, but their contributions to game engines are even greater.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
It's interesting how their public statements have evolved from "we're in no financial trouble" to "we're selling Homefront and shutting down two studios."

I see you taking your smug victory lap, you press sneak fuck

What the hell was Crytek Austin working on?

The Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age.

At least with CryAustin that game was promised a decent combat system. Now? With CryFrankfurt at the helm? Lol that shit's gonna be as stale and shallow as Ryse.

If I were a dev and I saw Activision or EA involved in a buyout of a company I worked for, I'd run. Run fast and far.

I'd much rather have the team who knows Timesplitters work on the IP than some developer with unproven shooter experience.
I get your point but so far all reports are saying Splatoon is good despite lack of experience, and also that experience free radical had didn't help haze. Another good shout would be insomniac, based on how sunset overdrive looks and their r and c past they know how to make fun games, shame about resistance though

Poor Free Radical can't catch a break, I suppose it's good news that most of the staff are going to be staying together but the thought that the TimeSplitters IP will remain with Crytek is the most painful outcome.

I feel so bad for Vigil...you could really tell with what they worked on that they were passionate devs, especially the artists. They can't catch a break. :(

Sucks for everyone who lost their job, hope they can get back on their feet. Also It is starting to feel like Deep Silver is taking over THQs place slowly.

You ever read about how horrible the development of Haze went?

Copy bump.

Glad that Deep Silver is hiring Crytek UK's staff.

Very unfortunate for Crytek Austin/Vigil. From one shutdown to another.

its called TUPE and usually lasts for 6 months, where the staff are paid as per their existing salary, befitis etc etc.

After 6 months Koch can do what the hell they like, but most firms usually trim the bad apples but mainly keep the staff on board.

I really hope Deep Silver also gets the TimeSplitters IP because it sounded like the team really wanted to work on it.

Honestly I don't think there's anything so notable about the IP to be worth picking up over just making something similar if they really wanted to.
