What makes the Vita version a "Prequel Trilogy"? Why does it cost so much more than the smartphone version? Why is Square Enix so cryptic?

It presumably has all four games (Chaos Rings, Omega, Chaos Rings 2, and Chaos Rings 3).

Just call the Vita version the Chaos Rings Collection.

This is actually a smart move by SE, I assume the vita port cost them relatively nothing.

I played this series on my old Iphone 4 and a Xperia Play, Had lots of fun. I'm not entering the series with high expectations and will just play it as is.

Now I can play this on my Vita with proper controls, it would be better.

I own all three prior games on android during sales. Still haven't finished the first level of the first game. This at least reminded me to reinstall the game as I have a new phone now. Also finger-control kind of sucked so hopefully they implement actual analog controls.

At least these are real games. Maybe not a full console production... but no IAP garbage in sight, right?

No IAPs for the first three CR games.

But that could change for III!

It probably will change for III, now that you mention it... (most RPGs have DLC on any platform nowadays) but at least the series isn't conceived of as F2P as its core business model.

If that's the case and the port is better than the PSM version of Chaos Rings, I'll buy it.

What's wrong with the Playstation Mobile version? I'm kinda interested in the game and own a capable phone, but I'd prefer to play the game with buttons rather than a touch screen.

I really don't think this game will feature IAP, past entries haven't and they were all launched well into the "IAP era", so to speak, and they already have Sigma announced to be F2P with IAP.

Also, according to Dengeki the series has sold over 1.1 million units, so it seems to have done pretty well so far.

Yes, they're about comparable to what you'd expect out of a mid-to-upper-mid-tier PSP game, but with notably better graphics than the PSP provides.

Here's the second game:
Chaos Rings 2 is pretty good for sure. It also got good reviews. I think the story is descent as well.

I still need to play it...after I finish the first!

Then "Chaos Rings III Prequel Trilogy" is a very weird name. Even though the first game is already playable on Vita through the PSM port, I can see them just doing I+II+III.

Also, how big is Media Vision? They're working on Shining Resonance (PS3), Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (Vita) and this.

This is the first exclusive handheld Square Enix for Vita?

How is it a handheld exclusive when it's coming to smartphones as the lead platform? Lol.

Interestingly enough, the developers listed in the announcement indicate that Media Vision is solely developing the smartphone version, while the Vita version is developed by Media Vision and Bullets. Sounds like Bullets is porting it to Vita. Lol.

Kind of was hoping it'd be released sooner like later this week.

Chaos Rings 2 was released soon after it was announced, right?

Oct. is a far away.
