Here is my hair (on a good day) it's fine as hell but there's a good amount of it. This is after some blowdrying and a small amount of product. I'm getting a cut this week, anything you guys can recommend?

I'm thinking of maybe an undercut. Would a 1.5 or a 2 be better for the sides and back? And should I take it high?

What product would you guys recommend for hair that's really hard to style and lies flat? I might get some hair thickening shampoo/conditioner and try some volume mousse or spray.

Any tips are appreciated!

After 3 years of having the same hairstyle, finally doing something a bit different. Growing the front out while keep sides and back short (same). let's see how it goes.

So I'm thinking of getting an undercut next hair cut. I've had one on the sides, blended, and spiky on top for the longest time and think it's time to shake it up. Thing is, I got two cowlicks (one dead center above my forehead and one in the back right). Is that a big deal when it comes to an undercut?

I have a cowslick too..on the fringe. I find straightening it at a really high temp helps a bit

kinda getting bored of the tail that came along with the fauxhawk. might just let it grow a bit longer and see what i can do about it.

also gonna have to dye my hair again. bored of this fake blonde

Alright so I have an interview on Thursday and I'm getting a haircut since it's about that time anyway. I'm not sure if I want to go ahead with what I usually get, I've been thinking about going conservative this time. What I usually get is a skin fade on the sides and back with an undercut on my right side and a hard part on my left side (I usually comb it to the back and side). I've been thinking about getting the same cut but instead of a skin fade, I would just go with a straight 1 or 2 on the sides and back.

What do you guys think?

I just got a haircut. While I think it's alright, it has the same problem I often do - the back looks weird. How do I make it look more like this guy's instead of this:
Either your hair is really thick or the pomade you're using is making it look that way.

Your barber will likely let you go back for a free touch-up - tell him/her to go to town with thinning shears to make the hair less voluminous so it "sits" better on the back and looks more textured instead of the uniform French fry look it's capturing now.

Any pics from the side, by the way?

Here and here. My hair is actually really thin and straight, and I've currently got American Crew Grooming Cream in.

Those side shots look a lot better, actually.

From the back, the problem is definitely the severe way in which it was cut. The hair looks like French fries or fettuccine strips because of the blunt way it was cut, almost straight from left to right as if one were cutting construction paper.

Yeah, I like the first one and the second isn't terrible. One problem I have with my hair is that I get cowlicks on my crown if it's too short. Still think I should go get them to thin it out?

If you want it to look more like that guy's, then ask your barber to use thinning shears like these:

That alone will do wonders in making it look more textured and polished.

If you want it to look even more like the model in that video, you also need to sweep it to one side rather than having it lie downward on your parietal bone.

See how his hair in the back is diagonally side-swept? The extreme-ness of the side-sweeping depends on how long your hair is, so you definitely don't want to cut any more length - just thin it out.

my hair grows straight down (at least the front does). I'm working on combing my hair over to the right side of my head and eventually hope to have it where it's diagonal back/right. Will I eventually be able to do so by simply letting my hair grow out more and letting the weight of it do most of the work?

also, what products would you guys recommend. I used tea tree shaping cream with HdF quicksand which worked out well. Currently using AC pomade with the quicksand. I'm looking for something with high hold right now because my hair is stubborn but I still want that matte/no product finish.

Running out of my Baxter's clay pomade soon. It's lasted 6 month, so got a lot out of that £20.

That said, I was wondering if anyone has tried the silkhaar ByVilain stuff before I go back in for another pot.

Has anyone experienced products of By Vilain, especially the waxes?

http://www.slikhaarshop.com/uk/by-vilain/

At this moment, I am using the products of Hanz de Fuko (sponge wax, claymation and quicksand) and I quite liked it. However, I would like to still try out products of By Vilain.
Before I spent another 20 euros on hair products, I would like to hear of you guys if you have any experience with those products or best for me would be a comparison with HdF if you have both. Many thanks.

I just spent a few weeks in Greece and went swimming in the sea every day. By the end of my trip, I loved the feeling of my hair- was no longer poofy like it normally is here in the US and I could style it much easier. Is there any way to replicate this type of texture for my hair without salt water?

Does anyone else have problems with hairstyles that involve uneven hair looking awful from a certain angle. Usually the side the hair points to or drops lower to your face.

Why the long case?
Man, this new guy fucked me up. Ditched my undercut and went for a low fade again, looks good. I came out with some serious straight razor war wounds around my neck and ear, and got 50% off because of it.

self conscious gaf checking in: i have a largish head, moley head. i want to get a pompadour with the perfect split(idk what you call it, but like this image i'm posting). would this look fine one someone that doesn't have a perfectly chiseled jaw/cheekbones?

It's a timeless cut, so I don't think anyone can look "bad" with it. That being said, my current cut is very similar, though I have a disconnected top/fringe. I like the matte clay look more, with some texture.

Not really, no but that shouldn't stop you from trying.

Sometimes it just works out :)

Frustrated with my hair at the moment. My natural part lies on the right side, but I'd rather do it on the left side because I think it compliments my facial structure. Unfortunately my hair is stubborn and doesn't like laying in the direction in which it's not meant to be, always sticks up right where I like to part it.

Might switch back to the right side, but I thought it'd be nice to vent.

If you like that type of haircut you can go for something like this. Its not a lot of length removal, just texturing and product. Go to a salon and bring the picture.

How would I go about maintaining something like this? What product(s) do people recommend to make it happen?

So I went and got an undercut. Barber pretty much left it the length it was on the top and shaved the sides.I'm pretty happy with it.

He put gel in it and combed it back, which I'm liking. With that said, I have a question. Is gel a good idea? If it is, which one would you recommend? If not, is there something better I should use?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Pomade over Gell imo, if your in America you get alot better stuff easier than in the UK. Cand think of the names right now but they are in the OP i believe.

I really do not miss having long hair, what a bitch to maintain that was.

This is with a little bit of HDF Modify Pomade in, applied to dry hair.

I'm now using HDF Claymation, love the stuff. I also have HDF Spongewax, pretty lightweight and gives a nice shine to your hair.

Ah I use a trimmer as I have a beard and a mach 3 for the neck. I was actually meaning the straight razor the guy used to take the fluff off my neck and sharpen it all with.
Feels like my neck is on fire

Help with first time long hair!

Okay... so paid far too much for extensions, they looked great when I came out of the hair shop but the hair staff really gave me no styling tips for a first time long hair person, where do I start in styling?

Tried putting them into Johhny depp pirates style braids for easy maintenance but it just ended up looking like my hair hair was in knots....

Here's what I look like now with zero styling... obviously need help

So, what is a bit lighter on hair, yet holds well? Trying to define curls, but I only have wax and pomade. Shit kinda holds it in place too much.

Would this be where mousse comes in handy?

I'm interested in this as well. My hair length is at the point where its bulk is too much for pomade and wax to maintain lift and volume. Don't really want to go in for a trim just yet, though.
