In that bumped spider topic I saw that some posters were praising spiders and centipedes for eating moths. Absolutely unacceptable.

Some larger moths do not have mouths and as such can not eat. They emerge from their cocoon and fly around and mate and die. Please keep this sad, yet noble fact in mind when thinking of moths.

Please refrain from insulting moths in this thread. Doing so will result in an eternal ban + a possible home assault by the MothDemigods.

Not possible. This was probably one of those hair flicking spiders, you liar. The moth was probably trying to protect you by attacking the spider.

Yeah I think it's actually a model of a China Silkworm Moth. Or a Poodle Moth.

I love moths, and I fully support this thread. May we forever coexist peacefully with our gentle moth friends. Did you know that the "powder" on a moth's wings consists of teeny-tiny little scales? So moths are basically miniature dragons.

On a related note, we saw a hummingbird moth in our garden the other day. It looked sort of like this, but its coloring tended more towards gold than pink. Gorgeous creature!

It looks even more like a bird in motion. Very similar flight patterns when visiting flowers. Honestly, we would have been sold on it being a hummingbird if we hadn't noticed the antennae.
