Um why the pessimism? If Warriors Chronicles has done decently enough on the 3DS, it looks like the sequel might do alright. Are you actually pinning the whole future of the series on Zelda Musou? Considering it's on the Wii U, that seems really weird to me...

Oh ok. Thanks for clarifying that!

So far this year (software over 200K in 2014 retail only):
1. [3DS] Youkai Watch 2 - 1,894,593
2. [3DS] Youkai Watch - 918,852
3. [3DS] DQM2 - 739,032
4. [3DS] Kirby Triple Deluxe - 643,622
5. [WIU] Mario Kart 8 - 613,636
6. [3DS] Puzzles & Dragons Z - 416,333
7. [3DS] Pokemon X/Y - 438,600
8. [3DS] Mario Party: Island Tour - 418,482
9. [PS3] Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS. Full Boost - 380,136
10. [PS3] Dark Souls 2 - 335,226
11. [PSV] Freedom Wars - 270,019
12. [3DS] Persona Q - 244,796
13. [3DS] Story of Seasons - 220,599
14. [3DS] Monster Hunter 4 - 210,451
15. [PSV] Sword Art Online - 209,895

Lower than 200K, but also have some great legs:
[WIU] Super Mario 3D World - 163,501
[PS3] Grand Theft Auto V - 151,950
[3DS] Animal Crossing New Leaf - 146,070

So with Smash Bros 3DS, Pokemon ORAS, and MH4G, we'll likely have 3 more million sellers. I'd say alongside both Youkai Watch games (I'm pretty sure YW1 will hit 1m for the year), that'll make about 5m sellers on 3DS. Maybe Mario Kart 8 can eke its way there for a 6th. Anything else I'm missing?

I got the Media Create White Paper 2014 in a japanese library. They're making the photoduplication of the top 1000 2013, and also the Top 500 used games of 2013 for me.

It will take a little time to translate, i request people who can read japanese to mail me and help with the translation.

2013 had 8 million sellers (Luigi's Mansion included).

Also Samurai Warriors Chronicle 2nd for 3DS is at 115.577 according to Media Create.
Hmm that's quite the jump from the last number I remember
(60k-ish?)

They're actually doing pretty well, especially considering the fact that all of them are multi-platform titles (with the exception of Dynasty Warriors Next), as compared to the 3DS entries which are exclusive. Koei Tecmo probably see this as an opportunity to get more sales therefore they decided put Samurai Warriors: Chronicles 3 on Vita too.

L Thammy posted the numbers on the previous page.

Again, Warriors series is synonymous with PlayStation brand, therefore it makes sense to keep their mainline titles there. WiiU and 3DS actually got more Warriors titles than any of the previous Nintendo consoles, contrary to what you're implying.

That 3DS domination omg. And all the title is mostly make by Ninty. 8 million seller on 3DS and yet developer hoped more on mobile?

I hope the fully translated Top1k will warrant a new thread.

Anyway, Thank you, hiska-kun (and unnamed working drones), for slaving away so we can have our numbers.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 2nd had great legs, in the end. Even more when you consider it was a sort-of-expansion of the first one, and not a full sequel to a launch game. Almost 120,000 units starting from 34,000 the first week is pretty good. Not surprised the sequel is coming, then (I mean, a full sequel). Even if it's shared with Vita, which had good results with other Musou releases recently, so it makes sense.

Shinovi Versus apparently takes place after 2 (which immediately followed Burst), so they aren't part of the plot yet.

Honestly that sounds almost like Level 5 class IP missmanagment.

I'm suprised they haven't made SK2 multiplatform release - they can't abandom fanbase on 3DS but it's weird they haven't tried to capitalise on SV success also and I expected Burst to have been ported to Vita by now.

115 577? Well, that's pretty impressive. Makes me even more curious about potential sales for SWC3, to be honest.

By the way, fully expecting Squeenix to announce Gyrozetter 2 any time now, to go with GC2 and HB2 :p

They released Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit for Vita and announced Senran Kagura: Estival Versus for PlayStation platform(s). I think that should be enough to keep the fans happy.

To be honest, I think Hero Bank did better than both GC and GyroZetter. What are its most recent numbers?

I don't know budget and Sega's expectations but first game was over 50k 1,5 month ago and didn't join bomba bins.

IIRC it's the third best selling new IP of 2014 so far in Japanese non-mobile gaming market.

Oh dear... When 50k LTD sounds like a noteworth achievement... Surprised HB did this well, actually.

Anyway, Leg-o-meter July Edition. Lots of game keep on climbing, like Mario Kart 8. It's actually about to overtake GTAV, the only non-Nintendo game in the Top 10. As for Monster Hunter 4, it's been gaining steam in the past few weeks, no idea why... hype for 4G?

Samurai Warriors Chronicles 2nd did well. I wonder what the average sale price of those new 30k were though.

It will be interesting to see which of the SWC3 versions does better. I could see a possible higher opening on Vita but longer legs on 3DS.

As for Senran Kagura... it's really not boding to well. Wednesday's going to be interesting (by the way, are we getting numbers on Wednesday or are we expecting delays?)

Soneone from K-T had mentioned that the game was approaching 100k many months ago and if it passed that barrier a sequel would be possible.

Actually, they never said 100k, but they did say they were quite happy with the series sales on the 3DS.

Here's the tweet you're talking about (I think?).

I wonder how Atlus will respond to Persona Q's success. Will they continue to develop Persona spin offs for Nintendo consoles?

I think they could rotate Persona Q and Etrian Odyssey from now on, it would give Etrian Odyssey some breathing room .

Pretty good pre-orders for MH4G. Hyrule Warriors... not so much, but hey. Not much of a surprise here :(

It would have to be P5 based, because I can't see how Atlus could shoehorn another P3xP4 crossover into the already stretched to breaking point continuity.

Tragic.

[3DS] Bravely Default: Flying Fairy <RPG> (Square Enix) {2012.10.11} (¥6.090) - 25.114 / 308.808
[3DS] Bravely Default: For the Sequel <RPG> (Square Enix) {2013.12.05} (¥4.990) - 59.300
Total: 368.108
This is how you manage a franchise. Watch out for FTS Best Price this week, coming for 400k copies sold. Bravely Second is riding on good momentum!

[WII] Xenoblade Chronicles (Nintendo) {2010.06.10} (¥6.800) - 6.840 / 193.848
2012: 9,349 / 187,008

Nintendo should have released an HD Remaster, maybe they decided against to focus on Xenoblade X. (it still got delayed though)

[3DS] Resident Evil: Revelations <ADV> (Capcom) {2012.01.26} (¥5.990) - 303.793
Bomba my ass!

I don't think it hit the bomba bin, even now it's been sold at regular price on Amazon.

And I agree with your prediction, it's unusual for a Samurai Warriors game to have legs, maybe SWC attracted some female players? That would give the 3DS version some advantage.

Also, YW2 will surpass 2m. Hopefully it has some great legs and can reach 3m+.

Before the month ends, it will end up at 2M. 3M+ before this year ends is not impossible, if YW1 is an indication of the selling power of the franchise, though with the next wave of big hitters arriving later this year (MH4G, Smash 3DS, Pokemon ORAS) it may slow it down a bit. Hopefully it can maintain a constant 20-30k a week for the rest of the year.

Unless Level 5 suddenly stops production of Youkai Watch 2, the 3 million mark is a lock. I expect virtually no drop for week 32 and next week is Obon, so the game will have a bump. Its LTD at the end of August should be close to 2,5 million units.

What I would like to know is its exact sell-through to see if they are being able to meet demand. Famitsu digital sales estimates should be a good indicator, if its digital sales are abnormally high, then there must be some supply issues.

Anyway, the question is whether Youkai Watch 2 can get to the exclusive tier of 4 million sellers. Only 3 third-party titles managed to reach such a godly status (Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Dragon Quest IX and Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G). But I guess it still is to premature for such speculations, I must not to get carried away by Youkai Watch hype.
