WE FINALLY DID IT!! And within 5 minutes! Crazy considering the boyfriend was at it for over an hour yesterday without success. Thank you Gaf for solving the mystery.

Here's what we did:

- Do the chimes and 10-step thing for first giggle
- Walked to phone and stared at it during haunt, as that seemed to work for a lot of people. - Failed. No giggle. :(
- Tried to locate the ghost during next haunt so that we could stand still in her location after the haunt hoping for a second giggle. Didn't work, couldn't find her in time.
- Went back to phone and opened pause menu while we plugged in a mic. Unpaused and shouted a bunch of stuff during next haunt. Still nothing. :(
- Went into the bathroom and attempted talking to fetus. At this point our cat noticed the mic cord hanging from the controller and attacked it. We quickly paused the game to untangle the cat... and while paused we got the second giggle!
- Unpaused game, sent cat away and waited. Controller started vibrating. We kept waiting, not moving the controller at all. Then third giggle. Phone starts ringing. Haunt is still going on and we dashed towards the phone. Picked it up.

We were chosen!!! :D

Thank you based cat <3

Just fired this up after a full day recovering from the last time I played.
Started where I left off... possessed.

I hear her breathing over my left shoulder and that fucking "heel" noise again.
I slowly walk down the corridor towards the window near the phone, trying to prepare myself for what might be around the corner, then I noticed it and shat.
The shadow of Lisa, shaking crazily behind me is being cast on to the wall infront me.

NOPE > CLOSE APPLICATION

I'm sure it's the 5.1 that's terrifying me, it's so good that it's unbearable!
This teaser has been amazing, I've been glued to this thread and various streams for the last two days.
Just wish I didn't have heart issues and could grow the fucking balls to finish it for myself.
I'll try again when I can find some back-up.
Thanks for keeping me entertained PTGAF :)

P.T. > better than many AAA games. Hail Kojima and del Toro. Crazy to think this is literally only a teaser.

Same here. Played so many horror games and few come even close to what this teaser does.

I don't think this will represent anything that the final game will be (they disclaim this at the credits) and everything is just too abstract. But if they went for third-person it would still hold up in those dim-lit environments combined with the sound engine.

so it got me thinking... is it really possible that theres a giggle by pausing the game for a certain period of time? maybe Kojima has something about the number ten? 10 steps and ten minutes? who knows.

If you're in one of the spots when you "pause" it seems like the game logic is still running and whatever it is that chooses the hot-spots for the giggle is queued up and ready after a lenghty time on the OPTIONS screen. As mentioned previously, using the pause trick by the phone got me the giggles and vibrate 6 times today with 15-20 minute pauses. But I only suggest trying it if people are really at a loss in the last section. Wesker's advice should be all anyone needs but it requires some patience sometimes.

The 10s thing was mentioned before a few times. 10 steps, 10 months ago, 10 year old son (correct me if I'm wrong) I think there was more.

Tried pausing for 10 min after first giggle-nope
Tried saying hello several times to the phone like an idiot-nope

Where did you pause? Did you pause when the previous haunting had ended? Did you move to your pause spot after the previous haunting? It's been flawless for me (with longer than 10 minutes).

We quickly paused the game to untangle the cat... and while paused we got the second giggle!

That's consistent with my playthroughs using pause. I don't sit around waiting for that giggle, but it can and will happen if you're in the hot-spots (mirror/phone/radio/Hell/entrance)

The shadow of Lisa, shaking crazily behind me is being cast on to the wall infront me.

LOL

I agree... i have been posting on this thread for a while and its so much fun. Jumping on peoples stream and trying to help, and making theories and talking about SH and PT have been so much fun.

Truth.

Guys I have already said a few times the mic is not relative to this at all, I've finishes the game 3 times, first two times my mic was occupied by party chat and the third time I deleted my game save and deliberately started with no headset or camera attached to PS4 and played through from start to completion.

I finally did it!

10 steps for the first giggle worked perfectly. And then I tried standing everywhere and searched where she might be. Nothing worked!
But then I tried method with microphone. I started playing music on my laptop and put PS Camera on the speaker. Moments later, controler began vibrating and I got a call!

Idk man, i played the last section for 10 hours plus trying to beat it, and the first time i have the mic connected i get to the ending cutscene in under 7 minutes.

By the phone....during a haunting I think.

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
This is the among the best horror games I've played. Right up there with Silent Hill 2. This is a full game. Seriously, you can give anyone a heart attack by playing it. Seriously creepy. Really well done. And so fucking cryptic. I love it. :D

So I finally got to play this, I didn't get very far but jesus christ, this thing is terrifying and genuinely scary. If the real Silent Hill game has this sort of atmosphere, we are in for one hell of a ride.

by the way guys i dont know but
Every time the ghost kills you and you fall on the floor it sounds like she unzips her pants or something and starts pissing on you or on the floor... i dont know...
I thought she was raping me when I heard the pants unzip (she doesn't have pants).
Fear 2 flashbacks.

Come on, you fucking asshole baby! Giggle, damn you!

Seriously, I don't get it. I don't get how some people can complete it time after time, ten fucking times in row, but for me nothing happens after the first giggle. FUUUUUUUU-

So this is both confusing and freaky. I got the baby to cry once after taking ten steps. I could alternatively get the same result by inspecting the radio, then the phone, but not both in one loop. I tried saying hello, and something spoke back to me in German. Then I coughed into the mic and it said I take one step, hand in yours on the screen or something like that.

I took a step but nothing happened. I'm so confused.

I've been trying to give this a google but can't seem to find a solution: Does anyone know how to reset the demo so I start at the actual beginning of the game? I want to experience the house deteriorating into Otherworld from the start again.

So this is obviously a project morpheus title right?

Nah, not likely. Especially not unless they can somehow double the framerate. Can't play no VR game at 30 fps.

Delete your save.

You have the mic on, and are chilling by one of the 4 "hot spots" when the music gets all eerie? I suggest just moving to the phone, putting the controller down, and do something else while keeping an ear out for a giggle.

It took about 3-4 rounds of "building eerie music" (~5 minutes) while chilling at the phone before it finally triggered for me.

my guess would have to go and delete the actual save file.

list your process.

Loaded up my save which was on the last part. Then I:

  • Did a lap straight through for a quick reset just in case
  • Looked at the phone until it hit midnight and stayed there until the first haunting passed
  • Did 10 steps down the hall toward the reset door. Got my first giggle
  • Waited for my next haunting, then walked to where it was loudest (the bathroom) and stayed still in the mirror with her behind me
  • Talked into the mic from the end of that haunting through the entirety of the next one
  • Kept talking for a few seconds after and got another giggle. Then got the controller to vibrate so stayed still.
  • Got a last giggle when the vibration ended and the phone rang

Sounds more like she's tearing limbs, but if people want to think she's checking out his junk, fair enough.

Are you sure your mic is working/recognised by ps4? You can check by changing mic level in settings. You might have to at least loop or reload the game if you plugged it in late.

You don't need to loop. Do your 10 steps then keep trying the hot spots when haunting happens and keep still. Those other occurrences seem to trigger either randomly or instead of a giggle at the hot spots, they're normal. Ignore and keep trying, not looping.

Yep. But I've been moving around, so maybe I've just been unlucky. Will just stay by the phone I guess.

There is no mic level setting. Maybe because I'm using the pack-in headset?

I did it!

So I did the stand by the phone and take 10 steps deal. Got killed once doing it and haunted by the ghost twice. Tried the same thing again and stood by the phone for 10 minutes after getting responded to in German, then a message about taking a step flashed up and I did but it didn't work so I went back to staring at the phone. Baby cried, controller rattled, baby cried again and the phone rang

I'm not a fan with how much space the chat window takes up when streaming on PS4. If I disable it, what's the easiest way to have the chat displayed on an extra device? Does the iOS app have an option that just displays text chat and nothing else?

Hmmm. Never used it so not sure, I use Vita headset and adjust in:

Settings>Devices>Audio Devices>Mic level

Yeah, that doesn't exist with the pack-in. Just volume levels. But I confirmed that it's working by saying some voice commands in the menu.

EDIT: Or maybe we're talking about different menus.

was finally able to do it
I did the 10 step thing, then tried a bunch of other stuff listed in the thread but nothing worked
then I walked up to the phone, paused the game and just left it like that
after about 8 minutes the second laugh came while I was in the pause menu
I unpaused and left the controller alone
then it started buzzing etc etc

I had the mic plugged in all the time, and while I didn't really speak directly into it, the TV was on so there was talking
I'm not sure it has anything to do with anything, but I also turned on that light that is swinging near the front door

Jesus. I let her possess me during one of my many attempts. I figured I was good since she technically is inside me now.

NOPE.

Turn the corner and BAM in face and killing me.

Scared the funk out of me.

Once again, for people new to this thread, to trigger the 2nd set of giggles after doing the 10 steps and getting the first giggle, you need to go to and stand in one of the four "haunting" spots.

1. The phone
2. The radio
3. Bathroom mirror
4. Entrance doorway in the first hall

These are randomized for your playthrough, so if you stand at one and it doesn't work, move to the next one, then the next. Repeat until you hear a second set of giggling, then DO NOT MOVE. After a while the controller will vibrate and you'll hear a 3rd giggle, then the phone will ring. Go answer and boom, done. It appears the mic SHOULD be plugged in for this to work, but it doesnt seem necessary to actually speak works into it.

It sounds so reasonable, but I've been doing that for 2 hours with no success. I think I'll just have a little cry.

I really think that oculus is going to genuinely give some people health problems if a game like this ever comes to it lol.

That and probably a lot of replacement rifts being purchased due to people quickly pulling it off and throwing it across the room before curling up into the fettle position in a puddle of tears.

How long should I be standing at each spot? Just for one ghost cycle?
